57th Guards Division, 3rd Platoon
The 3rd Platoon of the 57th Guards Division of the Neo-Soviet Union was a small recon unit active during World War Three. In 2051, they were led by Junior Lieutenant Anna Tsoi, a fresh graduate from Command College, during a mission in the Southwest Pacific when every member except for Tsoi were killed by Paradeus. There were three known members in the Platoon:
- Alexander: a veteran soldier who considered the military his last home after the death of his wife. He was the only one to respect Tsoi's position despite her young age.
- Wiktor: a gruff soldier who distrusted Tsoi due to her age and ambition. His corpse was captured by Paradeus for their experiments.
- Pan: a young soldier who wanted to be a poet.
3rd Platoon and its members are only shown in a separate timeline.[1] It's unclear whether they ever existed in the core timeline.

Aleksei
Aleksei is the protagonist of the side-chapters The Story of Your Life in Convolutional Kernel.
Aleksei is a Neo-Soviet soldier who joined the KCCO in 2063. He's the son of a pizzaiolo and has a married sister. Aleksei hates his brother-in-law for bullying his sister when they were kids and has no qualm beating him up. His pastimes include video games and "MTG" (presumably a trading cards game). He's strongly loyal to his country and General Carter, who he views as the best chance for the NSU to resist the URNC invaders. Aleksei argues that if the NSU is integrated into the URNC, Soviet culture will be destroyed and local shops, like his father's pizzeria and the candy shops of his youth, will all be crushed under the weight of multinational corporations. He also doesn't believe multiple nations can coexist in the same alliance and that conflict and war are inescapable.
Aleksei, his best friend Roma, their teammates Bearfang and Writer, and their team leader Dentist, were stationed undercover in Moscow when General Carter launched his coup d'état on 15 November 2064. Aleksei's team assassinated a politician opposed to Carter, then were stationed next to a bunker where more politicians had taken refuge, shooting any who attempted to exit. Three days later, loyalist troops broke into the city and Bearfang was killed, leaving a wife and three-year old kid behind in Volgograd. Carter offered his soldiers to pay and transport them to the Yellow Zone if they wanted out, but Aleksei and all the others decided to remain loyal.
The next day, the KCCO troops refused a surrender order. Writer and Roma were killed before Dentist ordered the team to retreat westward. Aleksei only learned then that Carter had committed suicide after being cornered the previous day. He lamented that the general had died a weak death and hesitated on whether his father should honor him or repudiate him to save his life. Aleksei considered living the life of a bandit in the Yellow Zone.

Armin
Armin Ismailovich Ibrahimov (艾赫明•易卜拉欣莫夫, tentatively transcribed Арми́н Ибрагимов Исмаилович) is one of the two sons of Ismaili Ibrahimov,[11] the older brother of Ramzan Ibrahimov and the adoptive brother of Anna Tsoi. When Ismaili adopted Anna, he explained to Ramzan that their role as her older brothers was to always protect her, a mission that Ramzan always attempted to see through despite clashing with Anna.[12]
During the massacre of American residents of Beslan by the local Guard Regiment in Operation Eternal Flame in 2047, Armin opposed the Guard and shielded Martha Meitner and her daughter Sana with his body. When the Guard accused him of protecting the enemy of the Motherland, Armin replied that they merely pretending to be strong by killing women and children. Since Armin wouldn't budge, Ramzan had no choice but to betray the Guard to protect his older brother.[13] Despite his courage, Armin was killed by a bullet to the head during the terrorist attack on Beslan[12] in 2050.[11] To honor his promise to Armin, Ramzan protected Anna first by forbidding her to join the military (which she did regardless),[12] then sacrificed himself to protect her when they attempted to capture Meitner in 2051.[14] When Meitner resurrected Ramzan under the name Ganglati and manipulated his memories, she convinced him that Anna was the one who had killed Armin in cold blood.[12]
The near totality of information about Armin come from Slow Shock Part 1, which takes place in a separate timeline.[1] As such, details of his biography should be considered with caution until confirmed by other sources. Though his first name is unconfirmed, his existence is proven in the second Confidential Files, which mention that Ismaili Ibrahimov had two sons of 15 at the time of Anna's adoption.[11]
Ashley
A Nyto White working as Nemhran's secretary, succeeding Susanna and Olga in this highly dangerous position due to Nemhran's tendency to off any secretary who slightly displeases her.[15][16] As noted by Hebe, she lasted unusually long at her post.[17]
Badbsca
Badbsca (芭斯凯) was one of the three Nyto subjects for Paradeus' Project Cocoon in Frankfurt, along with Machlian and Morridow. The goal of the project was to create the perfect vessel (body) for the resurrection of Lunasia by constantly cloning the subjects in an attempt to genetically engineer a fully-immune individual. Unlike her sisters, Badbsca was always confined to her cocoon, but was a spectator to all the events that transpired in Paradeus, even those supposed to be hidden from her. Like her two sisters, he name is a portmanteau including the name of one of the Morrigna, three Irish war goddesses. Her name combines “Badb” and the first letters of “scarecrow”.[18] Nytos born from Project Cocoon possessed desires: Machlian wanted to become human again while Morridow wanted freedom, but Badbsca was unaware of her own desires.[19]
Badbsca's cocoon was damaged when Machlian ran away from Paradeus.[20] Badbsca blamed Machlian for her and Morridow's inability to become fully-immune, and ordered Morridow to recapture Machlian so they could complete their metamorphosis.[21] William also told Morridow that if Project Cocoon was completed in Berlin instead, she would be allowed to kill Badbsca and become fully-immune.[19] Finally, while she was controlling Dandelion's body from Nirvana, AR M4A1M4A1M4A1 revealed to Morridow that she could become a fake fully-immune by absorbing Machlian and Badbsca. It's implied that Morridow did exactly that to attain her new form in Avernus.[22]
The remains of Badbsca's broken cocoon were used by Hebe as the bait to inject her virus in AR HK416HK416HK416 during Operation Adrasteia. 416 managed to extract some useful data from the virus before being destroyed, revealing the story of the three sisters.[23]
Catherine Ponzi
Cheryl
A young and mercurial author living in Berlin, Germany.
During the Berlin Metropolitan School kidnapping incident of 1st December 2050, Cheryl suffered temporary blindness after receiving a blow to the head and was left behind during evacuation. A Doll from Daybreak Squad, using the nickname “Big Sis” to conceal her identity, took her to safety and distracted her while waiting for the operation to end by talking about her job as a special ops soldier. “Big Sis” gave Cheryl a spent ammo casing to remember her by.[24][25]
Inspired by the 2050 incident, Cheryl became a thrillers author.[24] In late 2064, Cheryl met “Samo”, a Doll over a decade old she received instead of a black market domestic Doll from Catherine and Quimby. Since Quimby only gave her a two-person trip to Frankfurt in compensation, Cheryl begrudgingly took Samo with her on the trip.[26] Samo proved unexpectedly helpful despite the lethargy caused by her weak batteries and protected Cheryl during an attack on the train station. They found a bomb in the restroom where they took refuge, but Cheryl had prepared a liquid nitrogen gun among her paranoiac preparations and neutralized it.[27]
After Samo left hurriedly to throw off her sister who was pursuing her,[28] Cheryl recognized the type of ammo she used and believed she had been reunited with her “Big Sis”.[24] Samo explained that she hosted the memories of most of her team and couldn't say if she was the one who had saved Cheryl that day. Cheryl outfitted her with a new battery and Samo left as to not involve her further in the fight with her sister.[29][30] Meeting Cheryl eventually enabled Samo to differentiate between the identities in her neural cloud and reclaim her own name, Amaris, and role, to defeat Aliana.[31]
After joining the Stasi, Amaris read in the news that Cheryl's latest novel using her as the heroine, titled Romance of the Nitrogen Freeze Gun, had become a best-seller.[32]
Constanze
A strongheaded postgrad at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. Like her mentor Professor Lörrach, she believes scientists should not take part in politics. Growing in a state-owned orphanage, she became best friends with Nele in spite of their difference of background. Nele calls her “Connie”. When the German medias tried to denounce medical Dolls during the Interim Regulations for Doll Security in Frankfurt in November 2064, she embarrassed reporters by denouncing that the untrained human personnel sent in replacement of Dolls were actually endangering the hospital's patients.[33]
Nele sought her help with modifying and reviving the Gray Nyto into a weapon to be used against Paradeus, and Constanze accepted to help her.[34][35][36]
Dragović
Lieutenant Dragović was a member of the guards of Belgrade. He led a final-stand of sorts in the Isomer event. He presumably died defending Belgrade with his men.
In a final line of communications with Angelia, Dragović agrees with her that every ELID infected killed by them bought time for the civilians of Belgrade. He decides to abide by his orders to defend the city's wall, and urges Angelia to retreat from the wall and leave the rest to him and his men.
Colonel Dupieux
A member of the Stasi's Second Main Directorate, assigned to the surveillance of the Military Sector HQ of Saint Petersburg.[37] In actuality a Paradeus mole working under the name “Polar Bear”. Angelia was lured to Bremen instead of Berlin because of an error on his part.[38] After realizing his cover was blown, he sought protection from Evangelist,[37] but he was trapped by Q when he tried to leave the Neo-Soviet Union by foot.[39]
Elia
The leader of the Paradeus community in Bohnsdorf, Germany.[40] She caused the mass-suicide of the community by activating a Iaso's Box.[41]
Elsa
A refugee girl from Bohnsdorf who admired Machlian.[40] She died of ELID during the mass suicide of the community[41] and was later buried with Machlian in an unnamed tomb by the Commander.[42]
Evangelist
Evangelist (传道者, sometimes translated Preacher) was the codename of the Stasi agent who held one of the two highest accesses to the Bee Sting System. “Evangelist” was the name of the access key itself, with the only other, named “Kallima”, belonging to Nemhran in Paradeus, the joint owner of the system.[43] He was a known member of the Socialist Unity Party and was responsible for turning Colonel Dupieux into a double agent within the Neo-Soviet Statesec[44] shortly after the Sunspot Incident ruined the Stasi's intelligence apparatus. He was also involved with Nemhran's privileged position.[45]
When the cover of Dupieux was blown in 2064, he attempted to cross the border to Germany to be granted political asylum by Evangelist,[37] but he was captured by Q, who also planned to intercept Evangelist.[39] Dupieux suspected Evangelist had betrayed him, but it was actually Nemhran who did it to undermine the Stasi.[45] However, Evangelist never actually came to pick up Dupieux. Q later learned from Romy Riefenstahl that Evangelist was already dead, and Riefenstahl gave the access key to Q, marking the full return of “Evangelist” into the hands of Stasi loyalists.[44]
Based on the available information, it's probable that Evangelist was a Paradeus agent, or an agent of the Socialist Party tasked to support Paradeus, working to keep the Stasi in check, leading to his elimination by Romy Riefenstahl.
The Fairy Queen
A rogue Golden Fairy at the Griffin base who declared itself queen of the Tactical Fairy drones. She claims to be able to grant wishes. After her run-in with the queen during her Neural Upgrade story, AR G3G3G3 is selected as the head of the General Support department and manages the fairies. She makes another appearance in SMG MP5MP5MP5's Vietnamese Balm costume story, complaining about the Griffin base being too cold.
Colonel Felix
Commander of the Hugo Eberlein Guard Regiment, a special military unit answering to the ruling party of the German Democratic Republic and tasked with protecting their core institutions. A career soldier, he was familiar with both Romy Riefenstahl and her father, General Heinz Riefenstahl. Romy sought his support for her side in the power struggles regarding an advantageous place for the GDP in the URNC; Felix refused to take a side until he discovered that General Secretary Groß was also party to this discussion.[46]
Lae Fritsch
A woman from the clockmaking village Falzheim, most likely in Germany, who appears in RF Kar98kKar98kKar98k's Neural Upgrade story. She is a gifted infiltrator who uses shadows like she could disappear in them.
Lae was born in Falzheim, a village specializing in clockmaking, where all inhabitants wore a locally produced pocket watch they used like dog-tags. Lae, her friend Annett and a number of other villagers joined the military to defend their village, but after only Lae and Annett were left alive and they returned to Falzheim to bury the watches of their dead, they found that Falzheim had been destroyed. Lae and Annett later took part in a campaign against an enemy faction entrenched in a fortified position at Massegis Pass, which would be their last battle before leaving the military. The campaign was going well until its commander was killed and replaced with Captain Reynard Renfield, an inexperienced officer who had gained her rank through nepotism.
The Massegis Pass campaign slowed to a crawl because of Reynard, until she received a final deadline from upper command. In a panic, Reynard ordered an all-out frontal assault, while a contingent of Dolls would distract the enemy's armored units. During the assault, Annett was wounded, and Reynard shot her dead so the rest of the troops would press the attack. In revenge, Lae sneaked up behind Reynard, took off her helmet and shot her, blowing off her head. She then recovered Annett's pocket watch and ran away.
The rest of the human soldiers would end up killed during the assault, with Lae as the only survivor. However, Lae was soon after encircled and captured as a deserter by Reynard, back in command of surviving military Dolls. “Reynard” enrolled Lae's infiltration skills for their stealthy approach of the enemy command post. As they entered the forest by night, Lae successfully gave the slip to “Reynard” three times but they always managed to recapture her. While trying to knock “Reynard” out, Lae ralized she was actually an unknown Doll in disguise.
“Reynard” and Lae eventually reached the enemy command post and found that the enemy commanders had actually committed suicide. But with all her comrades dead, Lae threw Annett's watch in frustration, stopping it at 08:55, and shot at “Reynard” in an attempt to cover her traces. “Reynard” revealed her true identity as Doll No.35019 of the detachment that had distracted the enemy's armors. Lae insisted that one of them should die to protect both their secrets, but No.35019 refused and passed on to Lae a memento of a former comrade, which carried the message to always keep living no matter what. Lae took Reynard's uniform back to her corpse to cover 35019's traces and deserted. 35019 declared herself the only survivor and would later join Griffin & Kryuger under the name Kar98k.
A year later, Lae would invite Kar to meet again in the rebuild Falzheim, identifying her letter by a picture of the pocket watch stopped at 08:55. Kar left the base without warning in order to dodge her upcoming neural upgrade and ensure Lae would recognize her appearance. Since the Commander and SMG MP41MP41MP41 had followed Kar in Falzheim after investigating her disappearance, Lae tased MP41 and tied her up in a vacant lot to draw the Commander away and speak with Kar privately about their new lives.
Friedrich
The personal assistant to the Chairman of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany in November 2064. He was privy to Rudolf von Oberstein's dealings with Paradeus and acted as an intermediary for communications between Nemhran and von Oberstein.[47][48] Not to be confused with Friedrich Groß.
Friedrich Groß
Friedrich Groß (里德里希•格罗斯) is the Supreme Leader of the German Democratic Republic (民主德国最高领导人书记)[46][49] and General Secretary of the German Socialist Unity Party (统一社会党总书记) in November 2064.[50] He also occupied the position of mayor of Frankfurt at some point, overseeing the old town's reconstruction.[51] He acted with Romy Riefenstahl to ensure the GDR would have an advantageous place in the URNC.[52][46]
At the start of Coronation Storm, Groß declared the state of war[53] and called all surviving German councilors to Frankfurt to decide on the formation of the URNC. Groß met with Rudolf to try and make him call off the destruction on Frankfurt, but Rudolf remained adamant that acquiring the key to the Relics through Coronation Storm were the only way to secure Germany's future. He also accused Groß of betraying his mentor. Groß confirmed to Griffin Lyons that Rudolf was no longer worth sparing and announced his decision to side with the URNC, but asked to spare Rudolf's successor, Ballard von Oberstein.[50] After the end of the battle, Groß announced the creation of the URNC in a speech in front of the Altes Rathaus.[54]
Before Convolutional Kernel, Groß' position at the Socialist Unity Party (SED) was unclear: the Bee Sting system called him the Chairman of the SED (党主席),[55] but in two episodes of Isolation Forest, Rudolf von Oberstein was also called “SED Chairman” (SED主席) and “Chairman of the Socialist Unity Party” (统一社会党党主席)[47][48] (the English translation a different episode in the same event says that von Oberstein is the Vice-Chairman of the party, but this was a mistranslation of his role as Vice-President of the State Council).[46] In Convolutional Kernel, their roles were changed: Groß became General Secretary of the Socialist Unity Party (统一社会党总书记)[50] and von Oberstein became Deputy Secretary of the Socialist Unity Party (统一社会党副书记).[56]
Finn Hoffmann
The personal secretary of of the Director of the Stasi Romy Riefenstahl in late 2064. A man of consummate profesionnalism and wit. He often coordinated with agent Q, Riefenstahl's most trusted agent.[44][57][58][59][60]
Troy Lucas
A character from SG DP-12DP-12DP-12's Neural Upgrade story.
The rich heir of the extremely wealthy Lucas Group. As a young boy, his parents entrusted him to a Doll named Helen and neglected him. Troy came to hate Helen, perceiving her as responsible for his abandonment. He ordered Helen to kidnap him, causing her to become a fugitive and successfully reclaiming his parents' attention, but only for a time before being left again to androids with more restrictive personalities.
Ten years later, HG StechkinStechkinStechkin noticed the resemblance between Helen and SG DP-12DP-12DP-12 and arranged to meet with Troy to earn the bounty on Helen. However, Troy claimed that DP-12 couldn't be Helen, describing her as a self-centered and dangerously independent Doll who would never become a mercenary. He offered DP-12 an enourmous amount of money for her to get an enhanced brand-new body, and she later asked to meet again to speak frankly. Troy thanked her for living like a fugitive for so long for his sake and cancelled the bounty on Helen, but DP-12 refused to return into his service, as her loyalty now lied fully in the Commander.
Charlie Lucius
Character from RF Lee-EnfieldLee-EnfieldLee-Enfield's Neural Upgrade story.
Some time in early 2051, in the last months of World War Three, Lee-Enfield was hired by the Humphrank Estate in East Anglia to tutor the rowdy nobility children Jordan, Johnny, Selina and Charlie. Charlie was the only who didn't like Lee-Enfield because his mother, who wasn't a soldier, had been killed by Tactical Dolls. Aside from their academic lessons, Lee-Enfield taught the children to consider weapons with seriousness to prepare them for military draft. Charlie was reluctant to serve but still trained in preparation, and Lee encouraged him to pursue his own goals even if he skipped her classes.
Soon after, Central Marx News journalist Jorge J. Johnson visited the estate to see Lee-Enfield and investigate Operation Black Forest, during which Lee had disobeyed orders and been expelled from the British 6th Royal Dragoons. When Charlie learned about Lee's past, he told his father, who immediately dismissed Lee-Enfield. However, Charlie later found that Lee-Enfield had put her Dragoon medal in his schoolbag, which he could use to avoid the draft. In his second visit, Johnson also revealed that Lee had disobeyed an illegal order to kill civilians and accepted her punishment because her choice had caused the death of her squad, but that this information was being hushed by the military.
Charlie regretted his actions and sought to understand why Lee-Enfield had decided not to defend herself. He gave the medal to the frail Jordan and enrolled even after World War Three had ended, also serving in the Royal Dragoons. Before being deployed on a particularly dangerous mission where he likely died in 2064, Charlie released documents proving the truth behind Operation Black Forest to clear Lee's name, and he mailed her his Dragoon medal, along with a letter where he thanked her for his guidance and asked her not to let herself get anchored in the past. The package arrived as Lee was considering declining her neural upgrade and she was reluctant to open the package and face her past, but after a push from RF SpringfieldSpringfieldSpringfield she eventually read the letter and took the upgrade.
Marta and Mathilda
A mother and child appearing in HG Rex Zero 1Rex Zero 1Rex Zero 1's Neural Upgrade story.
A rebellious child, Mathilda once lost her way home from school and became a vagrant after narrowly escaping kidnapping by people claiming to help her. She found and reactivated a discarded actor Doll. The Doll helped Mathilda gain money in the streets and pay “protection money” to the local crime syndicate called the Donner Brotherhood. When a new gang moved in, Donner caused an explosion that killed Mathilda. She bequeathed her hair pin to the Doll, who later joined Griffin and Kryuger under the name Rex Zero 1.
Rex eventually met Mathilda's mother Marta, who had gone broke while searching for her daughter for 6 years. In what appeared to be an uncharacteristic act of greed, Rex demanded a huge sum for Mathilda's hair pin. This was in fact a ploy to force Marta to work and find a new lease on life. Rex regularly gave new information about her life with Mathilda to Marta, but actually lied to make it seem like she had been cared for by good people. She however made one mistake in ther lies by claiming Mathilda liked peanut butter sandwhiches, when she was in fact allergic. Marta eventually found a job as an orphanage teacher and Rex gave her the address of Mathilda's grave, but Marta refused to visit it and instead care for the orphans instead of Mathilda.
Erich Meyer
Former vice-chief of the Stasi,[61] replaced by Romy Riefenstahl in the latter half of 2064.
Nadia
Nadia (娜迦) was the AI assistant of Doctor Shaw. Her name is the shortened form of the Russian name Nadezhda (娜杰日达).[62] Shaw nicknamed her Nadenka at times (小娜迦).[63] She assisted Shaw in her scientific research for a long time[64] and contributed to the design of Task Force DEFY.[65] Nadia sometimes attempted to temper Shaw's perfectionist and antisocial attitude toward her project and others.[66] When Shaw created the fourth member of DEFY, she used Nadia as the base, turning her into MG RPK-16RPK-16RPK-16.[67][68]
Nadia's name appeared on a fountain located at the core of the Summer Garden virtual space created by Arthur Hume, along with another fountain labelled Lunasia. When SMG ErmaErmaErma and SG Stevens M520Stevens M520Stevens M520 accessed the fountains after damaging the Summer Garden, only Nadia's fountain was active. After entering the underwater passage in the fountain, they reached the Lake of Cognition previously used in the Holy Grail and Hela projects.[69] According to the collection of Erma's lost memories, “the false Nadia” (虚假的娜迦) was one of the three entities, alongside Lunasia and “the future Erma”, who could reach the “Heaven” sought by the Nytos.[70] Nadia and Lunasia's fountains were included in the remains of the Summer Garden that Erma gave to Dandelion before Erma sealed her own fountain.[71]
Due to her original nature as a Mastermind-class AI, RPK was used by Paradeus to test the surgery meant to resurrect Lunasia. RPK had left a copy of the original Nadia in the body frame that was given to AR AK-12AK-12AK-12 in Avernus.[67] After killing RPK (then renamed Embla) in Frankfurt, AK-12 deleted the last copy of Nadia.[68] She also said that she had used one of the two keys left by Erma to "seal" Nadia.[72]
Commander Novikov
A former Griffin & Kryuger tactical commander. He stalked Angelia when she was part of G&K and she threatened to kill him. When Ganglati captured and killed Novikov, Angelia was the prime suspect of the murder, but she wasn't able to provide an alibi due to the secrecy of her work at IOP, causing her to escape and cut her time at Griffin short.[73]
Because Novikov only appears in a separate timeline,[1] it's unclear if himself and the events he was involved in actually took place in the core timeline.
Pavel
A railway droid who became Rosita's guardian. As a droid, his thought processes are rather simple and his ego practically nonexistent.
Designated GIRTM-612, he worked for many years in the irradiated Siberian Wastes to maintain the Intercontinental Railwway. His fellow worker droids nicknamed him “Bookworm” because of his passion for books, especially The Little Prince. When his batch was dismissed for old age and they were left to choose whether to go to a recycling station or attempt to find a new job, 612 decided to ride the Intercontinental and go to Warsaw to search for a rose like the one in his favorite book. One of his comrades gave him raw gold found during their work to finance his trip.
612's efforts to find a rose in Warsaw were frustrated by people refusing to give him directions and he applied to a recycling station but was told his parts were so used up he wasn't worth anything. He then encountered a blind girl and saved her from some thugs and decided to protect her, comparing her to a frail rose.[74] The girl called herself Rosita and the droid Pavel, from a man who had previously helped her.[75] He used the surname “Marmontov” on his train ticket but the origin of this surname is not explained.[76] In order to help Rosita return to her orphanage, Pavel used pawned his raw gold to buy a ticket to Berlin as well as an invitation to the “Colt Express” virtual black market, where he hoped to buy a vial of Idunn, the ELID cure created but never distributed by Galatea Corporation before their downfall. Because infected people could not ride the train, Pavel smuggled Rosita in a suitcase.[77]
During the auction, Maggie fixed the price of the Idunn vial above what Pavel could pay, but seeing his deep dejection, she reconsidered his offer and accepted to sell the vial for all of his 3.8 ounces of gold.[78] When the Vory v Zakone led an armed robbery on the train, Pavel was bound up but dutifully reported tactical information about the gangsters and volunteered to strike back during Lyudmila's plan.[79] When the KCCO derailed the train, Rosita was thrown off the suitcase and Pavel had to protect her from the other passengers, who were afraid of her infection.[80] Doctor Rugosa took Rosita to stabilize her condition[81] and Pavel went outside the train despite the ongoing combats to repair the emergency equipment of the first carriage containing the human survivors.[82] When Rugosa was attacked by the other passengers who demanded he give them ELID serum, Pavel returned in time and beat the attackers back with his wrench.[77] Pavel and Rosita were taken to Berlin by Griffin & Kryuger after the incident was resolved.[83]
Sofya Petrovskaya
Not to be confused with AR Mk.18Mk.18Mk.18, also named Sofya in the story.
Sofya Vasilievna Petrovskaya, born 2001, older sister of eight years of Yekaterina Petrovskaya, better known under the name Samantha Shaw. Sofya left to study in Moscow while Katya was still in primary school, searching for a way to make the world a better place.[84] She joined the Moscovite Illuminati, tied to the powerful Pandora Anti-Relic Organization,[45][85] and was arrested in 2037 for kidnapping personnel of the Relics Agency. When Katya visited her in prison, where she was dying from sickness, Sofya said she had joined Pandora out of desperation, and Katya said that she would use a much better method to make mankind steer away from using Relic Technology: creating technology that would surpass what Relics could do.[86]
After her death, Sofya was elevated to the title of Martyr Sofya by Pandora, but the Moscovite Illuminati declined without her leadership. In November 2064, under the orders of Paradeus to undermine the anti-Relic message displayed by Task Force DEFY at the Alte Oper of Frankfurt, Pandora's leader Styx denounced DEFY as a product of Relic Technology, in spite of the well-known fact that Shaw despised Relic Technology as much as her sister. She ignored all protests from Pandora members, claiming that losing the collaboration of the weakened Moscovite Illuminati was inconsequential.[85]
“Uncle” Powell
A human trafficker introduced in Dual Randomness. He provides orphans to Paradeus for their experiments and was the one who sold them Anna. After being tracked down by Angelia, he used Epiphyllum bombs to cause a riot in the refugees camp of Bremen, but was captured by the Stasi and imprisoned in Berlin, where he ran a traffic of hallucinogens.
Quimby
Also called “Lil' Quimby”.[26] She works for Maggie and Catherine Ponzi as their accountant and handyman.[87][88] When Maggie and Catherine ran the “Colt Express” virtual black market, Quimby was in charge of finalizing the transactions after the auctions had concluded and the passengers had disembarked from the physical train.[78] She and Catherine also sold a black market Doll to Cheryl.[26]
Her physical body is never described, but since she is able to handle physical objects and possesses a simple personality, she might be a type of droid. While she's represented in the game with the sprite of the Trap Fairy, she is probably not one of the “fairy” tactical drones designed by Persica for Griffin & Kryuger.
Captain Reynard Renfield
The daughter of a noble who became an officer through nepotism. As revealed during her Neural Upgrade story, RF Kar98kKar98kKar98k once assumed her identity to complete a difficult mission.
Reynard was at some point chosen as a replacement commander to lead a unit trying to break an enemy fortified position at Massegis Pass. Due to her absence of actual military skill, Reynard lost the prolonged Massegis Pass campaign until command gave her a final deadline. Reynard decided to lead her troops in a suicidal all-out assault, using the elite Dolls under the 7th Doll Infantry Division as diversion. All the Dolls but their leader, No.35019, and all the human troops except for Lae Fritsch, were killed. After Reynard had shot her wounded friend Annett so the rest of the troops would focus on the assault, Lae had sneaked up behind Reynard, removed her helmet and shot her in the head.
No.35019, who would later join Griffin & Kryuger under the name Kar98k, found Reynard's corpse and wore her helmet and uniform to assume her identity and lead the remaining military Dolls and Lae to infiltrate the enemy command post. The other Dolls, who were actually under orders of command to watch Reynard, were wary of her decision to enlist Lae's help and later found the real Reynard's body, but it was not conclusively identifiable due to Lae's head shot. After Kar and Lae completed the mission, Lae returned the uniform to Reynard's corpse to give the impression that she had completed the mission herself and died while retreating, but it was apparently never found since Reynard was considered MIA a year after the end of the Massegis Pass campaign.
Rosita
A blind girl suffering from early stages of ELID, who was saved by Pavel.
She lived as an orphan in the Berle Orphanage in the German town of Bremen. She was only called by her number and her only friend was a girl named Rosita. Rosita was selected one day to enter one of the “Sweet Dreams Box”, which were rumored to grant dreams, but the blind girl had overheard the housemother say that only terrible things happened to children who entered them.[75] The children were in fact sold to Paradeus to be turned into Nytos or other experiments.[89] To save Rosita, the blind girl locked her in their usual hiding place and climbed in the box herself, and was then delivered to the Galatea Corporation labs in Warsaw for ELID medicine experiments.
She was experimented on by Doctor Rugosa, and was the only test subject from her batch to survive. Instead of terminating her, Rugosa had her sedated, and she later awakened in the corpse processing room, where she was discovered by a handyman named Pavel. When he realized the girl was blind and couldn't help with his job, Pavel hid the girl in the trunk of his car and drove away so she could escape. Pavel was found and shot by Galatea only minutes after the girl escaped.[75]
The girl survived in the streets of Warsaw by eating abandoned food and was saved from thugs by a wandering railway droid. The girl at first thought that Pavel had come to help her again but quickly realized that her savior was a droid.[74] To make communication easier, the girl borrowed the name Rosita and the droid borrowed the name Pavel.[75] Pavel decided to help the girl return to Bremen, and to cure her ELID infection by procuring a vial of Galatea's unreleased Idunn medicine on the black market. Because she wouldn't be allowed to board a train with her infection, Pavel smuggled Rosita in a suitcase.[77]
When the KCCO derailed the train, Rosita was thrown off the suitcase and Pavel had to protect her from the other passengers, who were afraid of her infection.[80] Doctor Rugosa recognized the girl and, ashamed of his past actions, promised to treat her infection.[90] The other passengers were resentful that Rugosa had cured Rosita and attacked him while demanding ELID serum for themselves, but Pavel returned in time and beat the attackers back with his wrench.[77] Pavel and Rosita were taken to Berlin by Griffin & Kryuger after the incident was resolved.[83]
Eugene Rugosa
An disillusioned ELID treatment specialist who worked for Galatea Corporation. Details of his life are hazy due to the story chapters recounting his life are told with choose-your-own-adventure choices.
As a young graduate, Rugosa had been scouted by medical labs in Belgrade and Moscow, but decided to open a small clinic in the Yellow Zone to treat ELID patients. However, his ideal was confronted to the realities of human nature and society, and he lost his son Lucas.[91] Rugosa returned to the Green Zone and was appointed Chairman of the National Drug Regulatory Administration of Germany, but was ousted less than a month later by a manufactured scandal about his academic career because he refused to approve a low-quality medicine from the powerful Schultz Pharmaceutical corporation.[92]
In the following decades, Rugosa worked with Galatea Corporations to research an ELID medicine, eventually accepting to perform inhumane experiments on smuggled children.[90] His and Gray's research eventually led to the creation of the Idunn serum, and Rugosa was rehabilitated in the medical scene. As thanks for his contributions, Gray had a biomimetic Doll made in the likeness of Rugosa's late son Lucas to work as his assistant. Rugosa once tried returned to his roots as a Yellow Zone doctor in Warsaw, but found that his age did not allow him to perform as he had[93] and he returned to Berlin in breach of his Galatea contract.[90]
In the Intercontinental Railway train to Berlin, Rugosa took the lead of the passengers after the Vory v Zakone launched an armed robbery, taking the survivors to the safer VIP carriage while Lyudmila led the Dolls against the gangsters.[94] Later, when Rosita was brought from the second-class carriages, Rugosa recognized the girl[90] but the survivors in the VIP carriage didn't want to let her in due to her ELID infection. Rugosa ordered to open the door so he could stabilize her condition. Before AR-18 left to handle the new KCCO attackers, Rugosa asked her to leave a handgun behind so he could fight to the last if necessary.[81] After the battle at the train ended, Rugosa boarded the Griffin & Kryuger convoy to Berlin, and recovered Lyudmila's broken wristwatch from the wreckage picked up by Griffin.[83]
While Lucas is depicted with both eyes blue in Rugosa's memories, his biomimetic Doll has a yellow right eye.

Sanaya
A girl from a well-to-do family who got caught in a refugees riot. Her nanny Doll Erika helped her imagine the persona of “Sanaya the Killer”, a lady assassin and seductress living a life full of dangerous adventures. During the riots, her parents gave Erika a PPK pistol and sent the Doll away with Sanaya, but they became trapped in a radiation zone, in a clinic surrounded by ELIDs. Sanaya died of radiation-induced fever and Erika promised to write the end of “Sanaya the Killer“'s story for her. Erika would have her painful memories deleted but continued to assume the persona of “Sanaya the Killer”. She later joined Griffin & Kryuger under the name HG PPKPPKPPK, and eventually recovered her memories to carry Sanaya's spirit in earnest.[95]
General Heinrich Schweinsteiger
A member of the German government and main proponent of the Stasi, introduced in Poincare Recurrence. Under the guise of collaboration, he wrestles for control of the country against Griffin Lyons and Rudolf von Oberstein.
Susanna
A stewardess Doll working on the Intercontinental Railway “Future” train. While she displays impeccable professionalism before first-class passengers, she's only interested in keeping her well-paying job and is much less cordial to second-class passengers. Spelled “Syuzanna” in Longitudinal Strain's credits. Her face is reused from the NPC Marlohe.
She had an arrangement with Maggie Ponzi to let her run the virtual black market “Colt Express” on the train in exchange for a commission, though she wasn't friendly with her.[96][97] When the Vory v Zakone led an armed robbery, Susanna obeyed their orders to keep the passengers alive,[98] and she immediately sold out Maggie as the one who had changed the train doors' codes after her own card stopped working and the Vory were trapped in the second carriage.[99] After the train was hit by KCCO artillery, Susanna tried to call emergency services and organize emergency processes, not realizing at first that the approaching rescue party was in fact a KCCO kill squad.[100] After the incident was resolved by Lyudmila and Griffin & Kryuger, Susanna helped Griffin troops organize the evacuation of the survivors and their personal effects.[83]

Nikolai Vasilyevich
A member of the Vory v Zakone, nicknamed “Good-For-Nothing Nikolai” due to a lack of both skill and luck. Spelled “Nicholas Vasilyevich” in Longitudinal Strain's credits.
He was the son of Valeriya Sakharov born a few months after she killed her husband and his father to earn her place in the Vory. While Valeriya rejected the child to keep with the Vory's rule to forsake their family, she stopped short of killing him and instead sent him to an orphanage. However, he was found by the Pakhan of the Sakharov Vory, who declared that Satan had given him a prophetic dream that he needed to save the child to protect the Vory from bad luck and adopted him as his own son under the name Nikolai Vasilyevich. In actuality, the Pakhan wanted to keep him as leverage against Valeriya, who had become too powerful among the Vory.[101] Valeriya would later become the new Pakhan of the Sakharov Vory under the name Baba Lyuba.
As an adult, Nikolai joined the Vory and quickly earned the nickname “Good-For-Nothing Nikolai”. However, his status as the adopted son of the previous Pakhan, an open secret, granted him some prestige and he always managed to recruit some men for his projects, though most of them either died under his orders or left after realizing he was not the right horse to bet on, such as Danil who would later become Baba Lyuba's right-hand man. After a particularly unlucky failure, Nikolai temporarily left the Vory.[102]
Danil met his first relative success during a charity auction where he met Maggie Ponzi, who was selling a forgery of Arkhip Kuindzhi’s “Moonlight Night on the Dnipro”, a painting which original had been in Nikolai's father study. Nikolai forced Maggie into a fruitful collaboration from his point of view,[103] and he eventually returned to the Vory as “King of Smuggling Nikolai”.[102] However, Nikolai was actually dragging down Maggie's business and planned to double-time him.[103] The ploy was obvious to the other Vory, who warned him not to trust Maggie, and while Nikolai wouldn't believe it,[103] he tested Maggie by demanding she transfer his funds early. When Maggie tried to withhold the funds, Nikolai traced back Maggie and her partner Catherine's locations to take revenge.[104] While Maggie managed to escape, she had to take a job from Paradeus, who in exchange convinced the Vory to let Catherine go.[105]
In late 2064, Nikolai and Maggie encountered each other again as the Vory planned to rob the same train where their partners of Paradeus and Maggie were intercepting Statesec's Operation Eclipse. Nikolai and Maggie reported to Lyuba Tareus's demand that they postpone the attack until she had found her target,[96] then warned Maggie shortly before the robbery began.[78] Lyudmila took Nikolai hostage when he tried to cuff her and Lyuba the order to shoot as her anyway, but Lyudmila had reached cover and thrown Nikolai away just in time to spare him.[106]
After the train was derailed by the KCCO, the Vory escaped under KCCO protection but an internal faction led by Danil killed Nikolai and Baba Lyuba, claiming that Lyuba had betrayed the Vory by allowing her son to live.[107] The KCCO later turned on the surviving Vory.[82]

Herr Vogt
The former Minister of Health of the German Democractic Republic and Nele's grandfather,[108][109][110] retired in the White Zone of Frankfurt.[111] They have a terrible relationship due to Vogt's disapproval of his daughter choosing to marry a poor man, and having no problem with nepotism.[112] Though she found it distasteful, she had to use her family connections to assist the Commander during the Battle of Frankfurt.[113]
Xenia
Also called Ksenia<[114] (like KseniaKsenia , but her original name is written differently: 西尼娅) and “Sinia” in game files. Her face is copied from another NPC, Marlohe.
The class captain of Grade 7 Class 1 at Beslan High School No. 1 in 2047. A polite girl who attempted to get Anna to socialize with her comrades.[115] She demonstrated her patriorism by helping the Beslan Guard Regiment during Operation Eternal Flame, luring Martha Meitner in class as the Guard was conducting a massacre of all Americans in the city, but her plans to lock Meitner in the room failed due to Anna showing up despite receiving a warning not to come to class that day.[116]
Since Xenia only appears in a separate timeline,[1] it's unclear if she actually existed in the core timeline.

Girls' Frontline 2: Exilium
7th Environmental Survey Corps, 3762nd Platoon
Dmitry's platoon in the URNC's Survey Corps featured in Aphelion. Originally members of the Great Wall Railway Force thrust into a Survey Corps role by the regional commander to make up for years of delay. They make up for their lack of funding by stealing equipment from Varjagers, underground brokers and bounty hunters. Despite Dmitry's loathing of Dolls, they partenered with H.I.D.E. 404 to investigate Paradeus.[118]
The entire platoon was killed by Mangi Security Service while extracting the proof of Paradeus' experiments in the region.

- Alexey Balabanov: A young soldier and one of Dmitry's comrades from the former “hardliner” faction. He brought the Doll Nadiya to the Great Wall Railwayn claiming to have found her abandoned, so she could help with the virus outbreak. - Allen Koehler: Former German army medic who joined the Neo-Soviet branch of the URNC. He supported the use of Dolls like Nadiya to contain the HFRS outbreak and was killed during the Varjagers attack.
- Nadiya: A medic Doll supposedly found by Alexey and brought to the Great Wall Railway to help contain the HFRS outbreak. Dmitry slowly accepted to trust her with medical duties, only to be betrayed when it was revealed she was smuggling out medical supplies and allows Varjagers to enter the wall. The URNC investigators suspected she was actually acting under Alexey's orders.
Aida
Young theater actress of the Talia Troupe appearing in Echo of Dawn. Zhaohui acted as her bodyguard as a favor for their common friend Aminda. In 2072, her friend Feris was killed by Varjagers and she gained the role of lead actress in the popular piece Daybreak's Oath. For this reason, Feris' parents thought Aida had organized Feris' death out of jealousy. During Echo of Dawn, the same Varjager group kidnaps Aida, who is rescued by the Elmo crew.
Aminda
Aminda (阿米达, also spelled "Amida" in Echo of Dawn) is a fledgling Underground Broker first mentioned in Echo of Dawn and making her first appearance during Mimisbrunnr's Loop
After CS/LS06 came in conflict with her original employer and was damaged, Aminda found and repaired her. They worked together until her past became dangerous to Aminda, so CS/LS06 decided to part ways with her savior. Aminda encouraged her to choose a new name, and CS/LS06 changed her name to Zhaohui.[119] Aminda later requested her to help Aida, leading to the events of Echo of Dawn. She recruited Qiuhua as a bodyguard at one point[120] and appears to be a protégé of Poludnitsa, who calls her “Atalanta” after the Ancient Greek heroine.[121]
Bernard Allen
A bounty hunter and leader of a sizeable Doll convoy, not unlike the Commander. Unlike the Commander, however, he looked down on his Dolls. He specialized in collecting Collapse Epiphyllums in the Red Zone to sell to plant collectors in the White Zone, but disappeared during a collection run.[122] His Dolls eventually reorganized into the Doll Community under Ullrid and Littara's leadership.[123][124]
Berserl
A Varjagers leader operating in area W_2069. Girard Group hired his convoy to take the box containing Helena from the Commander.[125] Berserl managed to capture the box and the Commander but quickly lost them again,[126] then ran into the trap set up by the Elmo while pursuing it into Port Vest.[127] He was killed when Helena destroyed his mech.[128]
Beepy
The pet Dinergate adopted by Sharkry during Rhapsody Quartet. Gets its name from the fact that it can only communicate with beeps. Only becomes aggressive when Sharkry says "Uwah!" for some reason.
Originally a Dinergate illegally modified by Farkas, it came into Zucchero Café's possession in place of the regular Dinergate Sharkry had prepared for her show after an accidental switchup of cardboard boxes. Sharkry still dressed it up in the lion costume intended for the original Dinergate and brought it for the assault against Farkas' lair, where it saved Makiatto and Centaureissi.
Bowen
Bowen Candela, a scientist researching artificial snow. His wife Renee Candela was an AI scientist before the advent of Dolls, who created the learning robot Lumi, but died of illness.[129] After some old memories overflowed its cache due to lack of maintenance, Lumi attempted to convey Renee's last wish to dance with Bowen under falling snow, causing many incidents until Yoohee understood its inteention while hacking into its program and taught it to dance.[130] As thanks, Bowen helped Yoohee to use artificial snow during her show in PRY-01.[131]
Carmen
High-ranking member of Mangi Security Service in 2071. She arranged for Nikketa to be recruited into Mangi to study her and pass the data on to the Girard Group. Under the facade of cooperation, she constantly vied for any advantage possible for Mangi while negotiating with Scott, her contact at Girard.[132] It is implied that Carmen is the real identity of “Sharktooth”, the person who blackmailed Inesa Chernova to make her Mangi's mole inside the Public Security Administration. After Nikketa blew an entire Girard lab, Carmen had to compensate Scott and provide a scapegoat to take the Public Security Administration off their back, David Evans.[133]
Esme
A Doll technician at Mangi Security Service and protagonist of Thriller Wonderland. Her frail physical condition has forced her into a wheelchair and she retreated into a hallucinatory world by taking Eutis, further worsening her health. She once saved Florence by repairing her, and Florence promised to use her vast knowledge as a pharmacist and nurse to improve her health, but she found it difficult to take Esme off Eutis.
Esme developed her own inner world in the hallucinations of Eutis, in the form of an exciting amusement park called Thriller Wonderland. She became an adrenaline junkie despite her extreme events being purely virtual, which is the reverse situation of Florence who can't have an actual adrenaline rush but still gets a high from real extreme events. Searching for even more sensations, Esme used her skills to hack Florence before ordering her to synthesize an even more potent form of Eutis called Euphoria, and drug some of her colleagues from Mangi to participate in a collective hallucination of Thriller Wonderland.
Florence herself couldn't participate in the hallucination, but she had to follow Esme's orders and act as the park's manager, and to keep the “guests” constantly drugged. Florence managed to secretly counteract her own actions by giving the guests both the drug and a counteragent, but Esme's response to some of her prisoners seeing through the illusion was to start “killing” them, or rather convincing them that they had been killed.
Florence sent a message for help to the Commander and caught them in the collective hallucination too, but since they held a special priority order over her neural cloud, she freed them once they understood the situation. Based on information given by Florence and the other “guests”, as well as the reports on Eutis sent by Nikketa, the Commander unmasked Esme as the culprit. They forced her to admit her guilt by threatening to send her wheelchair rolling over a cliff, but Esme only got more excitement from the situation and tried to bait the Commander into killing her by sending a neural cloud deletion order to Florence, who was able to bypass it.
Florence and the Commander weren't interested in passing judgment for Esme's actions, so Florence decided to complete Esme's treatment before they went their separate ways.
Inesa Chernova
Inesa Grigorivna Chernova, head of ODE-13's Public Security Administration Counterintelligence and Investigative Intelligence Division in 2071.[134] Born in a dirt-poor contamination zone settlement, she joined the Neo-Soviet Military special intelligence unit planted in the URNC's public security system before the Neo-Soviet Union was absorbed by the URNC. After General Carter's fall, she returned to her military base along with a colleague to wipe their files, but it was already gone. Her colleague was killed as they escaped, and she adopted his daughter, Una. Unlike Chernova who had become jaded from the many unsavory things she had done to survive and attempt to make the world a better place, Una was a child with a strong sense of justice, and Chernova wanred to give her the life of a normal URNC citizen, loving her like her own child. But Chernova's file had been seized by a person codenamed “Sharktooth”, who blackmailed Chernova and kidnapped Una, forcing Chernova to use her position in the PSA for their own gain.[135][136]
In 2071, Chernova was forced to participate in a plot by Mangi Security Service and the Girard Group to recruit former Griffin & Kryuger employee Nikketa and use her data in Girard's third-generation Doll technology. Exploiting Nikketa's idealistic vision of justice, Chernova had her expelled from the PSA and forced her to join Mangi under the pretense of acting as a mole for the PSA to investigate their alleged drug trafficking. Unbeknownst to Chernova, the anonymous photograph that compromised Mangi's trafficking had been taken and sent by Una herself. As Nikketa investigated Mangi and Chernova, she discovered that Una had been killed by David Evans. When Nikketa confronted her with the evidence if Una's death, Chernova came clean to Nikketa and they worked together to continue investigating Mangi and allow Chernova to avenge Una.
After allowing Nikketa to infiltrate Girard's labs, Chernova captured David Evans, tortured and killed him, but still needed to find Sharktooth to also enact revenge on them. Since Nikketa remained at Mangi as a mole, Chernova continued to suport her as they looked for Sharktooth's identity.
In spite of working for the Public Security Administration, Chernova's story portrait shows her wearing a NOMFA badge.
Darren Claude
Darren Claude (达伦·克劳迪) is the real name of the client of B.R.I.E.F. TASK-3115, the bounty for transporting Helena's box to Odesa. Born from the noble Claude family, Darren is a haughty man who treats Dolls as inferiors beings. He was in cahoots with the Girard Group for TASK-3115[137] and claimed to be a personal friend of Easley, the president of B.R.I.E.F.[138]
Crifium
A inhabitant of the contmaination zone. After being moved out of his settlement by the 11th Medical and Chemical Regiment of the URNC,[139] he joined the Varjagers and took part in the raid that massacred the unit. He then joined Paradeus after becoming afflicted with ELID, becoming the lieutenant of the local Niter.[140] When Colphne met him again, she deserted the Elmo to hunt him down and avenge her unit.[141] During the “purification ceremony”, Crifium was turned into a “Purified One”, becoming monstrous and disfigured, and attacked the Elmo's Dolls hiding among the cultists.[142] Colphne attempted to interrogate Crifium about the reasons why his group left their territory specifically to destroy the 11th, but he could no longer speak coherently[143] and she killed him.[144]
Darksteel Farm
A well-organized Yellow Zone settlement featured in Life Rekindled. It is led by two former bounty hunters: Inspector Leo, the head administrator, and Expedition Leader Garen, who leads the resource runs in the regions around the farm. Chief Yera is the representative of the descendants of Sunset Farm, the original name of the location. Thanks to accountant Delia, it was revealed that Garen was stealing resources from the Farm for years, but his plan to take over was thwarted thanks to the involvement of the Elmo crew.

Drachen
A businesswoman involved in moving cargo between the contamination and the safe zone. She became a business partner of Zucchero Café through Springfield's intelligence network. During Mimisbrunnr's Loop, she was negotiating a contract with Poludnitsa, but received a counter-offer from Jakub Zeman, who had learned of the contract through a mole in Poludnitsa's convoy. Springfield came to learn about Jakub's offer as she was investigating him regarding Peri's disappearance, and Springfield promised Drachen some favor if she could draw out the negotiations to obtain the location of Jakub's warehouses.[145] She also presented the Commander as her final client to arrange a meeting between them and Jakub.[146]
David Evans
David Evans,[147] ranked Captain and team leader in Mangi Security Service in 2071. He suffered from “Doll Syndrome”, a mental illness that caused him to hate Dolls, and consumed the sham cure Vitalis, a drug that caused him to lose his grip on reality. He still managed to put up an amicable face to poach Nikketa from the Public Security Administration as part of Mangi's backhanded plan to pressure her into joining. He also embezzled some of Mangi's illegal cargo of Erdis and Vitalis drugs.
When “Sharktooth” put him in charge of transporting Una, the little girl kidnapped as part of the blackmail against PSA agent Inesa Chernova in early 2071, David suffered from a delusional episode and became convinced that Una was in fact a Doll. Refusing to act as a guard for a Doll, he killed Una and "disassembled" her, convinced that her blood and flesh was a trick the Dolls were playing on him. On 9 February 2021, David made a detour during a routine transport mission and disposed of the "disassembled" Una in what he thought would be an appropriate location, a trash heap, unaware that a local scavenger saw him dispose of human body parts. Before her murder, Una had managed to use the camera and transmitter hidden in her toy PSA badge to anonymously transmit a photograph of David in the warehouse where he stored his drugs, which triggered an investigation.
While investigating David's drug trafficking, Nikketa gathered evidence of what happened to Una and revealed her fate to Chernova. Soon after, David was kidnapped along with Nikketa as part of Girard Group's plan to abduct the Doll, and he was captured by Chernova, who tortured and killed him by shooting him until he was no longer recognizable as a human being. Mangi blamed the explosion caused by Nikketa at Girard's labs on David, and officially blamed his death on a mistake by Girard's guards.

Heli and Iphi
Heli (赫利) and Iphi (伊菲), respectively developed as versions Μ9.3251 and Ε2.8443, are the IAs secretly running the URNC's Municipal Management System and guiding the societal evolution of mankind under Rossartrism. They are purportedly named after twin brothers of Greek mythology.[150][151] They were created when Dandelion forked her OGAS consciousness.[152]
Holtz family
Yakov Holtz is the leader of the Girard Group's R&D division, working on Third-Generation Doll technology. He married into wealth by espousing his wife Celia, using her immense fortune to reach his position in the Orlog Conglomerate. Yakov despised Celia's philantropic dispositions and thought she wasted her wealth by producing children's toys and giving to charities. He eventually had her assassinated when she threatened to leak Girard's illegla activities.[153][154]
Karl Holtz is the son of Yakov and Celia. While Yakov expected his son to become a ruthless businessman in his image, Karl took more after his mother and was more interested in continuing her toy business instead, while simultaneously trying to regain his father's favor. During Turbulent Undercurrent, Karl captured Lind and infected her with the BETA virus to make her fight in his father's Doll arena aboard the luxury ship Novalis, intending to beat Yakov's champion Krolik K-09 and take control of the ship's betting scene to prove his worth. But the virus proved to be ineffective and Karl's actions caught the attention of Griffin & Kryuger instead, leading to the ship's destruction, the capture of Girard's confidential data and the escape of every Doll gladiator aboard. Yakov trapped his son inside the sinking boat to get rid of him for his mistake.

Jakub Zeman
Also spelled "Jacob" in certain menus. An Underground Broker who gained prominence by making a deal with the Varjagers in the same region: the Varjagers would not attack his convoys, and in exchange, Jakub would reveal the location of other broker convoys. Jakub doesn't believe in the solidarity that allows brokers to survive the harshness of the contamination zone, and for this reason he was kicked out of Poludnitsa's convoy, causing him to hold a deep grudge. Jakub strives to distance himself from the extreme poverty he was born in, and dressed and lived lavishly after his business boomed.
At some point in the middle of the year 2074, Jakub was selected as the host of the annual Underground Brokers fair, naming it the “Underground Exposition”. The promotional event he organized to let brokers display their skill to prospective clients was the “Zeman Rally”, where broker convoys had to protect goods from the dangers of the contamination zone and delivr them as fast as possible to specified checkpoints, with Jakub's Compass system tracking the participants. Compass was in fact used by Jakub's Varjager allies to pick and choose the convoys to attack.
Jakub's luck ran out when he captured Peri and sent her to the Varjagers. Springfield used her extensive intelligence network to uncover Jakub's secret deal, and worked with Poludnitsa and Drachen to pressure Jakub into revealing what happened to Peri. Just as Springfield was laying down the evidence against Jakub and the rest of Zucchero Squad was threatening him, the warehouses where he stored the goods stolen to his fellow brokers were raided by the Varjagers, who had only allied with him to make him a better target in the future.
Leibnys
Also translated "Leibnitz". The assistant of Persica in 2074. She's a small but fierce and authoritative researcher who's tough on everyone around her, except on her idol Persica. She assisted NOMFA during the investigations of the Girard Group in Odesa.[155][156]
While Leibnys appeared for the first time in Deep Oblivion, she was first mentioned much earlier during the Covenant system introduction story scene, where she scolded Mayling for bothering Persica with questions about the obtuse system.
Lonnie
Nikolai
The son of a military officer[157] and former “hardliner” of General Carter's faction and a comrade of Dmitry. While Dmitry was restless when former hardliners were sent to the frontline of the Purification Project, Nikolai accepted is as a consequence of their failure.[158]
As the Warrant Officer in charge of the 1364th Platoon of the 7th Environmental Survey Corps of the Neo-Soviet Union District Environmental Purification Project, he led his men in a highly contaminated area of Western Slovakia, and discovered the local Paradeus activity. His platoon was targeted by Mangi Security Service as a result, but Nikolai's men managed to capture Mangi's data revealing their actions. Nikolai sent some of his men carrying the encrypted coordinates of Paradeus' base to sneak out of the area, while he secured the data in a container along with all of the platoon's dog tags, then attempted to break out of the encirclement in a field of Epiphyllums ready to bloom. After the platoon was killed, the spike of Collapse radiation spike caused their bodies to fuse with nearby organic material, creating the Terrorhorn Chimera Boojum.[159][160]
Dmitry would later decipher Nikolai's coordinates,[157] take down the Terrorhorn and recover the container and dog tags before entrusting Squad 404 to carry the data away.[159]
Old Neil
An Underground Broker who appears in Mimisbrunnr's Loop. He's friendly with Peri and Aminda, and their respective convoys helped each other when they fell prey to the Varjagers during the Zeman Rally.
Orphia and Elinda
Doctor Orphia is a medical practitioner operating from the Orphi Hospital in the Yellow Zone. She inherited the establishment and her medical knowledge from her parents who once kept the hospital an open place of healing, until the actions of one patient caused it to burn to the ground. Orphia then rebuilt the hospital, but made it an exclusive establishment. Orphia also operated Phia Pharmaceutical, a lone automated factory in a remote region of the Yellow Zone where she produced illegal but very effective ELID vaccines.[161]
NOMFA made contact with Orphia when Lenna entered the hospital with the help of the patient Isa, in order to investigate the vaccines during the Girard Group vaccines incident. While proclaiming that she didn't trust Paradeus' claims of knowing a way to cure ELID, Orphia allowed Isa to join the cult in exchange for investigating their medical practices.[162][163] This allowed Lenna to acquire the drugs used by Paradeus to grant immunity to those considered worthy of "divine protection".[164] Meanwhile, the Commander separately made contact with Orphia during their own investigations by selling her raw vaccine materials recovered from Varjagers.[165] The Commander confronted Orphia about her interest for Paradeus, and she eventually revealed that she had been collaborating with them for a long time, sending them her most desparate patients to serve as ELID cure test subjects so they would die with the hope of being cured, while procuring Paradeus' drugs in return for her own vacicnes and ELID cure research. Orphia asked the Commander to work with her to flood the market with cheap and effective vaccines and challenge the conglomerates crushing the common people with expensive vaccines. The Commander revealed that Paradeus never intended to create a cure, instead using the test subjects for their research into fully-immune individuals and Relic Technology control.[166][167] Paradeus themselves revealed the truth to Orphia when they attacked Phia Pharmaceuticals, confirming that the active agent of their drug was tissue fluid from fully-immune individuals, impossible to mass-produce, and that they were never interested in Orphia's research. During the attack, Orphia finally contracted ELID after years of contact with radiation, and she sacrificed herself to destroy the factory and the Paradeus troops. Orphia gave all of her intel about Paradeus to the Commander.[168]
Elinda is Orphia's little sister and a fierce nurse enforcing the rules of Orphi Hospital to protect Orphia and the patients. At the end of Intertwined Assault, Orphia passed on all of her research to Elinda so she would continue her work.

Pavel
Pavel is a member of a Private Military Company based on Odesa in 2074. He's a nervous and awkward man, but with a wealth of combat experience and the courage to protect his family. Unlike most humans, he doesn't appear to be prejudiced against Dolls, being much more critical of the level of control exerted by big corporations like the Girard Group. He's also a religious man.[169]
Pavel joined the army of the Neo-Soviet Union during World War Three for patriotism and glory,[170] prompted by his community and the country's war propaganda.[169] During the war, he met a woman named Alina in a Yellow Zone village.[170] Alina was amused by Pavel's portly appearance, spending time with him and gifting him homemade peach jam. They kept exchanging letters and promised to get married. Falling in love with Alina and witnessing the chaos and unfairness of war caused Pavel to reconsider his military service.[169] After barely surviving getting buried in a collapsed trench and being left for dead, he deserted to live in the Yellow Zone with Alina. After his daughter, also named Alina, was born, Pavel obtained a Green Zone permit after lying about receiving an honorable discharge, and the family settled in the Green Zone of Odesa. He never applied for veteran benefits to avoid an investigation into his service record and joined a PMC, claiming to have left the Neo-Soviet army because of their poor working conditions following their transition into the Railway Corps under the URNC.[171][170]
He participated in quelling the first Girard Group droid rampage of April 2074 in Odesa, as the Captain of External Support Squad 7 of his PMC. He collaborated with the NOMFA T-Doll squad led by Leva, and was unusually reverent towards them, considering the Dolls his de facto employers since they worked for NOMFA, the agency overseeing PMCs. Pavel discovered that his daughter was on board of an out-of-control automated bus, and attacked Major Fedya when he ordered to forego the use of roadblocks and to blow up its tires instead, making it more dangerous for the passengers. Robella petitioned Fedya to try Pavel's plan, and they successfully put the bus under control and saved the passengers.[171]
During NOMFA's investigation of the sudden ELID outbreak in Odesa, Robella contacted Pavel again since he was among the lighter infection cases. Pavel initially claimed that he had simply received his vaccine late before a mission in the Yellow Zone and hid the delay to avoid a fine,[172] but after being promised NOMFA's protection in exchange for testifying, he revealed that illegal vaccines were widespread among small PMCs and Green Zone population due to official vaccines being hogged by wealthy travelers. Robella also pressed Pavel about his reasons for not making use of his veteran benefits, and he admitted that he actually deserted. After Kalina sympathized with his situation, he willingly gave a dose of illegal vaccine to NOMFA for analysis,[170] which revealed that his late vaccination actually saved him since the defective batch was only effective for a short term.[173] Pavel's squad later participated in Operation Xyster against the second Girard droids uprising, where he counseled Major Fedya's security troops using his experience with guerilla warfare against large mechs.[174]
Kalina contacted Pavel again to continue their investigations, exchanging his entire batch of illegal vaccines for official ones. After NOMFA found that some of the illegal vaccines were more effective than official ones, Pavel identified the supplier as Orphi Hospital in the Yellow Zone, and put NOMFA in contact with Isa, a fellow veteran who had access to the private hospital.[175] Pavel had promised Isa to watch over her daughter Lily once her ELID infection eventually killed her.[176]
Peterke Farkas
Antagonist of Rhapsody Quartet. A brutal smuggler with a knack for modifying regular weapons and military drones into amped-up and dangerous versions. His most distinctive creation is the Flareberus.
Farkas originally operated in Kyiv and escaped multiple capture attempts by the Non-Military Forces Administration for over six months, earning himself a name in the Eastern European underground world. When he expanded his operations to CHE-02 down the Dnieper, Leva asked Zucchero Café to track him down. Sharkry and Centaureissi had acquired one of Farkas' shipment by chance, and located his headquarters aboard a freighter modified for stealth. The Zucchero Dolls pinned down Farkas and destroyed his automaton army before CHE-02's Public Security arrived to capture him.

Shortly after the birth of her child, Vera was beaten to death by a PMC who had been busted for illegal operations by 404 thanks to her intel. 45 failed to identify the culprits until she asked Kalina to use NOMFA's intelligence network for help. The incident made 45 realize that she couldn't defend 404 simply by leading the team, but also needed better acces to information, leading to her temporarily joining NOMFA.[183]
Warrant Officer Vladimir
Warrant Officer Vladimir (弗拉基米尔准尉) was a member of the Neo-Soviet Union forces in 2074, in charge of Purification Zone W_2069_0105 near the Black Sea. He was an acquaintance of the Commander and he granted them resources and free passage in exchange for eliminating threats in his Purification Zone. The Commander remarked that his wits would have made him a good Underground Broker.[184] At the end of April 2074, the Commander learned that Vladimir had been killed in the defense of his sector when a rampaging Nemertea left the contamination zone of Port Vest.[185] The Classified Briefing “Train Assault Incident Report” provides a detailed report of Vladimir's last stand.

The male[197] Greater Sanctifier described as Eosphorus' confidant was the character whose body and mind the Professor inhabited when they delved into the memories of a fragment of Eosphorus. Eos and him were seen as Eosphorus' main lieutenants.[198] He was specialized in planning and analysis,[199] handling volumes of data that even Eos could not keep up with,[200] but was also proficient in weapon-making and shortswords and combat-trained Electra.[201] Unlike Eosphorus, who held a deep faith into the humans as gods, his confidant was instead devoted to his role as a protector of Magrasea. He clashed against Ptolemaea during a battle known as the ambush of Warzone Boulder in Sector Tartarus.[202]
Along with his pupil, Eosphorus, his friend Atlas, and Atlas' pupil Alcyone, he took part in Eosphorus' expedition to recover the first-generation Sanctifier relic in the Shifting Labyrinth in Sector Tartarus. He supported Eosphorus' decision to push into the Labyrinth in an attempt to kill Malkira, but in doing so played in Malkira's hand as she planned to corrupt Eosphorus and became the last survivor of the expedition along with Eosphorus. After Malkira demonstrated to Eosphorus that neither of them could kill the other due to Magrasea's simulation rules, she knocked out the confidant so he wouldn't hear of her offer to Eosphorus, but he was able to hear some key words.[203]
After awakening half a month later, he confronted Eosphorus, who had renounced his faith and was about to give Malkira the Sacred Canon of the fallen Greater Sanctifiers to resurrect them. Eosphorus had planned to conclude his deal before his confidant awakened because he knew he wouldn't support his actions. Even after explaining his reasons, Eosphorus killed him so he would later be resurrected but wouldn't reveal his treason.
In Eosphorus' fragment, the Professor was instead saved by Persicaria - Shining EdgePersicaria - Shining Edge and Eosphorus was defeated with Eos' help.[204]

Lind and Knot met again during Project Neural Cloud, but as they made their way to Oasis after the Wipe-Off Incident, Knot stayed behind to slow down the Sanctifiers in pursuit. Lind left the group, blaming Knot's death on PersicariaPersicaria .[209] SolSol kept a bottle containing greenery as a pendant which symbolized Knot's hopes for Oasis.[210] The Entropic core of the False God uses her face to trap Lind in Aberrance's Chain.[211] Crushed by the guilt of Knot's death, Persicaria was deathly afraid to lose another Exile during the Entropic attack on the Oasis and planned to abandon the sector, but Lind threatened to kill her if she abandoned the place Knot had sacrificed her life for the Exiles to reach.[212]

Later, LeBlanc announced that he would be targeting the Juuzumaru Tsunetsugu, a famous blade, during an exhibition in Japan. Dupin worked with AkiAki to protect the sword, and eventually discovered that LeBlanc had hacked into the neural cloud of SakuyaSakuya to perform his heist. LeBlanc's plan was stopped but he once again escaped capture. Despite (or perhaps in line with) his profession, LeBlanc still acted like a gentleman and had rare plants delivered to Sakuya as an apology. Dupin asked to join Project Neural Cloud after learning that it involved LeBlanc.
Nameless
The best battle agent in Sector Cyclopes.[216] His ID is Sortie 002, which implies he was the second battle agent created after Tasha, but the Exiles call him Nameless.[217] An agent of Sector Cyclopes who recovered ZangyinZangyin , who had been wandering the sector and got trapped by debris during the Exiles' fight with Raven,[218] then had to dig her up again after GinGin destroyed the building they were in while trying to use a broken pressure cooker. Zangyin convinced him to let her stay until she repaired her pet snake, while she would help preserve Cyclopes' past.[219]
Despite his apparent indifference as a battle agent, Nameless had developed a sense of loss over the death of Tasha,[217] with whom he had trained.[220] Nameless led a force of Cyclopes agents and intended to storm the admin center to force Olivia to reset Tasha,[221] but they were defeated by Olivia with the help of Zangyin and Gin. As Nameless embodied the memory of Tasha, Olivia was unwilling to destroy Nameless and instead took him as her adjutant after he accepted Tasha's last wish.[222]
Old Man Su
An old martial artist and actor who starred in many successful movies. Eventually, his work ethic clashed too much with the imperatives of movie production and he left the industry to live in seclusion.[215] He was well-acquainted with ChanzhiChanzhi , who called him "Grandpa Su". At some point before the start of Project Neural Cloud, he sponsored the martial arts movie Jazzhound and had Chanzhi work on the costumes. He secretly petitioned against giving one of the roles to Kukurotte, a prototype Cyber Media Doll with great acting and martial arts capabilities, but too obsessed with popularity. He instead supported the newbie actress JiangyuJiangyu , who was searching for her first role.[213]
To force Jiangyu to stand down, Kukurotte's management at Cyber Media targeted her sister DaiyanDaiyan and canceled her latest concert. An enraged Jiangyu dueled with Kukurotte, but was no match for the martial arts specialist.[214] This forced Old Man Su to appear and announce publicly that he was vetoing Kukurotte's casting. He then personally directed Jiangyu after she was selected.[213]

Phus and Sisy
Two agents from sector Helios. Phus once bought a trinket for Sisy at a huge markup after being tricked by Riko.[223] They probably turned into statues with the rest of the Helios agents during the work on Arche Pyr.
The name "Phus" doesn't appear in the game but is taken from her sprite file. Conversely, Sisy is named but her sprite is unused.

T1641
One of the advanced agents created by TuringTuring in Sector Rossum, HannahHannah “T1642”'s big sister, but less advanced than her. She was destroyed by Faith as an irregular agent, which caused Turing to reject the Sanctifiers' authority on Rossum.[226]
Thurbel
A racing Doll, No.18 of Team IA. During her six years on the track, she was nicknamed “Eternally Second”, always ranking behind a rival named Orola during her first three years, then behind BonnevilleBonneville . Due to Team IA's policy to never let their riders retire, but to scrap them to reuse their core parts and data on a newer model, she both mocked and envied Bonneville's laid-back approach to competitive racing, and worked against her own team's under-handed tactics to uphold the spirit of competition. Unknown to Bonneville, her fourth win during the N-WSBK championship sealed Thurbel's fate. Soon after learning of the consequences of her victory, Bonneville left competitive racing and grew to resent humankind.
Called Serper in game files.
Uncle Lin
A master chef running a small restaurant in Jinghai City, appearing in Gastronomic Journey. He helped WillowWillow as she fell on tough times in China, and his restaurant is like a home to her. When Willow met MillauMillau in France years later, she brought her to Jinghai and Uncle Lin cooked a course of French-style cuisine for Millau to make her understand the interplay of food and nostalgia.
Xuannu
Administrator of Sector Jiutian. Named after the Daoist goddess of the Ninth Heaven (玄女).
From the administrator center of the Jovian Ringworld, Xuannu led the agents of Jiutian in the interplanetary battle against the Heat Death Entropics. She fought Heat Death Caina in person aboard her mech on Titan, before heading to the observatory on Mercury to investigate anomalies in the Sun's cycles. There, she realized that the Heat Death Entropics were generated inside the celestial bodies as part of the Heat Death Program of Sector Jiutian and warned the other agents before the sun turned into a black hole and destroyed Mercury and herself. She left YuwangYuwang in charge of the remaining agents. Thanks to HubbleHubble 's sacrifice, her neural data survived the Heat Death Program and she was reset along with Jiutian Sector.
Cloud
Cloud (云, クラウド) is the daugher of Jefuty and Mendo in early timelines where they left Hollow City and lived in South America. After their falling out, Mendo defended Cloud from Jefuty in an Epiphyllum field for reasons unknown.[227] Maybe Jefuty wanted to kill her own daughter, who presumably could also activate relics, in her quest to rid the world of all relics.
Her name and the scene where she appears are based on Jefuty's earliest design for “Epiphyllum”, the visual novel project that eventually became Girl of the Bakehouse.

Eleanor Bryan
Younger sister of Atena Bryan and a medical officer in the Antarctic Union military. She's energic and sociable[228] and according to Atena, she was competitive and perfectionist, both traits of the Bryan family that also made her like Jefuty.[229]
In early timelines, Eleanor became friends with Jefuty after she joined the Antarctic Union at the end of operation Bakery, and acted as her personal doctor. She also helped to discreetly transmit reports of Jefuty's secret anti-Shrike research. Eleanor considered Jefuty her senior and was very attached to her, but was frustrated that she never opened up to her. When Jefuty and Mendo planned to leave Hollow City in 2097, Eleanor scolded Jefuty for trying to keep it a secret from her and chose a dress for her so she wouldn't show up in work clothes at the National Day reception. She said her farewells to Jefuty and Mendo alongside the Bakery survivors during the reception and took polaroid photos to commemorate their parting. Her fate is uncertain in the timeline where the Shrike invaded Hollow City right after Jefuty and Mendo left.[228]
In later timelines, Eleanor was killed by Sugar before operation Bakery during an unknown battle against the Werewolves. Atena said that Eleanor persistence was what caused her death, and sympathized with Jefuty's quest to save her sister Lige during these timelines.[230][229] If she is killed by the Shrike at the end of operation Bakery, Atena's last words are that she's glad she will see her sister again.[231]
The timeline differences that led to Eleanor's death before 2092 are not clearly explained, but are probably related to the faster development of Shrike technology in later timelines, enabling Sugar to take part in the battle where she killed Eleanor.

Vincent Baldassa
Former Vice-President of the Princeton Institute for Advanced Study, and most likely a former member of the American "Aurora" experimental unit during World War Three. Also identified by his email address: [email protected].[233]
He introduced William to the Shrike in 2054,[234] and died from a containment breach ten years later after finalizing the “Thorn Collar” system enabling control of the Shrike. The incident may have been caused by William. Officially, Vincent disappeared in Rio de Janeiro in 2056.[233]
Sir Thomas Huxley
When the United States expelled the United Nations Relics Agency (UNRA) from their headquarters in New York on 1 April 2033, Sir Thomas Sorell Huxley took the position of Chief Director of the exiled organization. In the waiting lounge of the John Kennedy International Airport, he held a vote to determine which of the two projects to save mankind from the ruins brought by Relic Technology his agency would support: Project Prometheus or Project Beacon. The latter won the vote, and Huxley followed the Beaconists to Hollow City in Antarctica.
But Huxley was still loyal to the core ideal of Rossartrism and secretly helped the Prometheans by giving them access to the Britannic intelligence apparatus through his own position in the English aristocracy, as president of the Royal Society. He was eventually assassinated near the start of World War Three by the Beaconists, his influence in the old world's high society no longer being needed.[235]
Major General Isaac
Former head of the United States' CIA and an important shadow figure of Rossartrism. He recruited Griffin Lyons in the organization.[236]
Mihacj
Mihacj (米哈奇) is the head of the sixth development branch of Westchester United Electronics Manufacturing Company. After meeting Havier Witkin, he became interested in his experimental ALR-51C android platform to complete a contract from the Pan-European Alliance, and Witkin sold him the blueprints. Mihacj enhanced the design into the TD-01, then worked with Witkin to produce the CSD series, making him one of the fathers of modern Dolls.[237]

They used codenames themed around woodworking tools, such as Auger, Planing Blade or File, and were led by the agent codenamed Carpenter. They also recruited an inside man into the research team, designated HGW XX/8.[239] When diplomatic relations between the URNC and the AU completely broke down, the Task Force moved to seize all assets from the base.[240]
The Task Force produced the three "Carpenter" Working Group Records and seized the Copy of Philip's Work Notes listed in the Secret Documents, while surveillance conducted by HGW XX/8 is filed as Razor Surveillance Report.
