As Operation Aeneas, started in Fixed Point, unfolds, Statesec dispatches secret Doll agent Instructor Я under the name “Lyudmila Pavlichenko” to carry the asset codenamed “Grand Duke” to the Commander in Berlin. Lyudmila will travel undercover in the “Future” Intercontinental Railway, along with an eclectic cast of characters: the mysterious Doll Erma searching for her creator, the con artists Maggie and Catherine Ponzi, Ms. Valeriya and her retinue, the industrial droid Pavel and the strange Villanelle. The protagonists must not only face Paradeus, but also their own pasts to survive the trip.
