The GAVIRUL Reproductions Projects (GAVIRUL重现计划的) are two research projects led in order to reconstruct the genetic sequence of a specimen from the unknown civilization called GAVIRUL. Five human hybrids test subjects were produced by the projects: Lily and Rose in 1992, and Jefuty, Noylu and Lunasia in 2078.

GAVIRUL edit

GAVIRUL was the name given to a specimen whose body was recovered from the relics site at Beilan Island in 1962. It was known by the Chinese researchers under the scientific name "Officer" (尉). The name GAVIRUL is derived form its speculative role as a guardian of the relics site.[1] GAVIRUL's DNA was believed to be the key to activating relics site, and reconstructing its complete gene sequence became the goal of several nations trying to replicate Collapse Technology.

Only one GAVIRUL was known to exist before the Second Beilan Island Incident, when several embryos were briefly found in the Beilan Island relics site before its destruction.[2]

Black Lily and White Rose project edit

Despite the importance of its discovery, no significant research was made on GAVIRUL and it was considered forgotten until the United Nations Relic Science Agency was formed in 1992. The agency launched the GAVIRUL Reproduction Projects after much discussions and political concerns. Work on the project was disorganized and lacked leadership. Originally, one faction within the biologists of UNRSA pushed for the search of new relics so they could be activated with GAVIRUL before further study, while another faction pushed to focus on creating human embryos modified with GAVIRUL DNA's to be used as proxies, and to pour funds into finding new relics only after they could be activated. The second faction eventually prevailed and female embryos were used to ensure chromosomal completeness.

Work on the hybrids was slow due to the instability of GAVIRUL's genes, making the mortality rate of the embryos extremely high at 98.9%. Only two embryos survived: Subject G-37 and Subject G-114, respectively of Caucasoid and Mongoloid phenotypes due to the origins of the ovules used. G-37 also had a genetic deficiency making her hair white, while G-114's hair was black. From there, the GAVIRUL Reproduction Project shifted to an observation phase, with G-37 being nicknamed Rose and G-114 Lily, giving the project the definitive name Black Lily and White Rose project (黑百合与白蔷薇).

Neither subjects shown any difference with normal humans during their growth into infants. Their gene sequences were codenamed Lachesis for Lily and Atropos for Rose and placed in cryogenic storage. The accelerated growth of the sisters made them look 14 at age 7, and on the 15th year of the project, the only noticeable differences with non-hybrids humans were heightened muscular strength and prefrontal cortex activity. No relics reacted to their presence. On its 20th year, the first GAVIRUL Reproduction Project was declared a failure and the UNRSA's focus was diverted to direct search for relics. Funds for the project were redirected to the development of the Weight Bearing system. Embryo samples and observation logs were archived.

The tracks of Lily and Rose were lost during the chaos of World War Three, but fragmentary accounts report they were used in operations against ELIDs after the war.[1] During World War Three, the United States cross-referenced the DNA of ELID creatures with the sequences of Lily and Rose during the Aurora program and successfully isolated the chains responsible for the enhance strength of these organisms, though they never had a chance to come up with an application for this discovery.[3]

Three Goddesses project edit

The modern name of the project (三女神计划) was only coined after its effects were made clear to later generations.

The project took place during the Ten-Years Honeymoon, a period of collaboration between the Union of Rossartrism Nations Coalition and Antarctic Union during the 2070s. It was the only joint research project led by the alliance and the friendly dispositions at the time made for a quick planning phase. By 2078, the project was co-chaired by professors William and Philip, respectively a Rossartrist biologist and an Antarctican physicist. William was in charge of building specimens while Philip tried to sequence GAVIRUL DNA from relic substances.

The Lachesis genes extracted from Lily during the previous project were reportedly lost during World War Three (speculations say that the Coalition actually hid them), and William worked with the Atropos genes from Rose. Specimens were obtained both from growth in artificial wombs and in live volunteers. Technical improvements led to the non viability rates to drop from the original 98.9% to 72.3%. Three embryos survived: G-179 Jefuty, G-214 Noylu and G-264 Lunasia, which inherited Rose's growth patterns and genetic defects. Jefuty was the only one delivered through natural means. The names given by William have been attributed to come from a certain constellation.

The project continued despite the souring of Coalition-Union relations, but by 2084 William and Philip's ideals started to differ, slowing the project. In 2085, the Antarctic research team began leaving Berlin as ordered, but Coalition agents interfered and not all scientists could return. Philip and his family were detained in Canberra, and as they were evacuated during one of the mass unrest, only his son was able to be returned, with the Coalition declaring Philip and his wife had been killed during an incident. As for the specimens, Noylu was in the hands of the Coalition, Lunasia was under Union control, and Jefuty's whereabouts were unknown. No great advances were made on Collapse Technology despite each faction controlling a specimen, bearing the conclusion that neither Noylu nor Lunasia could activate relics. Both factions tried to find Jefuty, hoping that the unique circumstances of her birth would have affected her capabilities, but they were unable to locate her.[4]

The search for Jefuty ended in 2092 during the First Antarctic War, where she was seized by the Coalition.[5] In 2094, Jefuty and Noylu were declared MIA after the total destruction of the Bear's Den relics site during operation Tinder.[6] At the time, the subjects demonstrated superhuman capacities, like enhanced speed, strength and hearing,[7] and the ability to survive massive damage and even for their body to re-assemble even after being blown apart.[8]
