They share the same hair and eye color, have similarly styled gear/equipment/clothing, and both have certain design features, including synthetic limbs, hairbands, and hair style (though JS 9's hair is a lot longer and fluffier than Type 79). This can be partially explained as being the result of both characters being designed by the same artist.

It is missing a charging handle, and has cut outs for a charging handle on both sides, which is also incorrect.
