Weapon Background[edit]
The IWI Tavor-21, also known as the TAR-21 (standing for 'Tavor Assault Rifle, 21st Century') is an Israeli bullpup selective fire rifle chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO. Built around a long-stroke piston system (as found in the M1 Garand and AK-47), the Tavor is designed to maximize reliability, durability, simplicity, and ease of maintenance, particularly under adverse or battlefield conditions.
Israeli weapons firm IMI began work on the Tavor in 1995. The objective of the project was to create an assault rifle that was more reliable, durable, and easier to maintain than the M4A1 Carbine, while also being better suited to close-quarters combat and mechanized infantry roles. Due to the military's close-quarters and mechanized infantry requirements, the project team selected a bullpup design that would allow the weapon to be compact while keeping a long barrel to maintain muzzle velocity. A long-stroke gas piston system, similar to that found in the AK-47 and M1 Garand, was selected to ensure the weapon's reliability under adverse conditions.
The Tavor rifle prevailed over the M4A1 carbine in a series of trials conducted during 2001 and 2002. Qualities tested included Mean Rounds Between Failures (MRBF), reliability, ergonomics during long marches, and ease-of-maintenance. In 2009, the Tavor X95 (also known as the Micro Tavor or MTAR-21) was selected by the IDF to gradually replace the M16 assault rifle and M4 carbine as the standard-issued weapon of all Israeli infantry. The first X95 rifles were issued to infantry units in 2013, and full adoption is projected to be complete by 2018.
The Tavor has an effective range of about 500 meters, and fires with a muzzle velocity of 910m/s and a rate of fire of 750—900 rounds per minute. Other features include the "birdcage" style flash suppressor, ambidextrous fire selector switch, and back up iron sights should the user not wish to mount optics on the top positioned Picatinny rail. Being designed from the ground up to be a modular weapon, the Tavor can be quickly reconfigured for a left-handed shooter by partially disassembling the gun, though ideally not in the heat of a battle where the gun has just been used. An issue related to this is the original plastic cover on the unused ejection port can allow gas to escape during the course of fire. Due to the bullpup design, this vents the gas out right under the shooters face, causing issues such as inhaling of ejection gases and the fouling of glasses and face with ejection debris. The issue is exacerbated when the weapon is suppressed. The characteristic black smudge from this has been nicknamed "Tavor face" by some shooters. This has been addressed by various non-factory solutions which increase sealing of the unused port. The gun comes in other variants, designed to chamber different calibers like 9x19mm Parabellum or even the Russian 5.45×39mm M74.
Aside from the IDF, variants of the Tavor are in service with special forces in many other countries, notably the Vietnamese, Indian and Turkish special forces/Commandos. Operators from all nations praise the rifle for its durability, modularity, and performance on the battlefield.[1]
Character Design
Tavor is the 4th T-doll artist 木shiyo contributed to Girls Frontline. A curvy T-doll around 150cm of height (assuming the weapon is to scale), featuring long blue hair and golden eyes. Much of Tavor's clothing is designed to showcase the sleek and futuristic look of the gun itself, such as the tight bodysuit, black pantyhose, and futuristic headset. Her headset also resembles bunny ears; combined with the "Night at the Bar" costume, she leaves the impression of a Playboy Bunny on the player base.

Trivia
- The Tavor's fire selector switch uses the same notations as the former British service rifle, the L1A1. Semi-automatic fire is indicated with the letter "R" for "Repetition".
