A military-grade, modern tank. The undisputed king of military units, the Typhon hover tank is equipped with an electromagnetic beam cannon as its main battery, firing a devastating beam that melts enemies from long range. It is named after the most deadly creature in Greek Mythology, Typhon.

Appearances

Gameplay

A stationary target akin to a Jupiter cannon, Typhons will fire a beam that can critically damage any dolls unlucky enough to be in its line of fire (and will outright kill them if they're already past critical damage), however, they will only fire straight ahead and thus can only attack whichever row they're assigned to. In addition, Typhons have a minimum targeting range extending to the frontmost column when an echelon is within range to attack, resulting in a frontal blind spot that can be taken advantage of. However, if there are any units behind a unit in the front line, the Typhon can target the doll in the back and still hit the doll in the front, so be cautious.

A single Typhon is normally no trouble at all, but most Typhon formations come in groups of three, which can be nigh-impossible to defeat without significant casualties. Highly skilled commanders can "dance" between the lasers with a single HG or even an SMG doll but the slightest misstep can mean the end, and timing the movements can be extremely difficult, especially if the Typhons are far off-screen. To complicate matters more, formations that are meant to be impossible often couple three Typhons together with a vanguard of Hydras to prevent such tactics.

Notably, Chloe's dummies cannot be hit by Typhon beams, and her attacks ignore armor. However, you will be stuck watching her serenade a platoon of tanks to death for a long while.

Lore / Story involvement

Typhons make their first major appearance in Singularity as part of the Russian Army's backup plan to capture Elisa by force. It's unknown whether their main armament is a laser or some kind of plasma beam. According to UMP45 during Singularity, the armor of a Typhon is 150mm thick, however, the composition of the armor is never mentioned, and it's unknown whether this is the frontal plating, or if it's simply the weakest point a doll can aim for. The main electromagnetic cannon takes 20 seconds to charge in between shots, but can be pre-charged before firing. The cannon also lacks gun depression, leaving it with a frontal blind spot. It has no secondary weapons. A single block of TNT can disable it.
