Galatea Corporation
Galatea Corporation, or Galatea Technology Corporation,[2] is a company established in 1964. Its most prominent figures are doctor Gray Blackwell[3] and CEO Fidina. Originally an manufacturer of electronics components, its operations expanded into AI, nanobiomaterials, smart prosthetics and pharmaceutics, and counted the National People's Army among its clients.[4] Its Galatea Real Estate Company was already operating in 2038.[5] In the 2060s, it was a cover company for Paradeus[6] and consequently received the support of Minister of Technology Rudolf von Oberstein.[7][8]

To further Paradeus' interest, Galatea recruited many brilliant minds in diverse fields of research from around the world, but they had trouble recruiting Gray, who insisted to remain independent.[9][10] They eventually had her killed and replaced her with a Nyto double.[11][12][13] Aside from Gray, Galatea also had a person called Dr. Alecia assassinated at some point before 2064, but Paradeus agent Shadowless ensured the German medias never investigated the company's connections to the murders.[14] Galatea-related murders later included Leone[15] and possibly Pr. Heine, would-be successor of Gray as head of the Gray Institute of Biotechnology who seemingly committed suicide.[16]
Like many other pharmaceutical companies,[17] Galatea developed an anti-ELID serum called “Idunn Formulation Type-III”,[18] claiming it was effective to cure mild infection or suppress symptoms of moderate to severe infection,[19] safe to use and cheap to produce and deploy.[3][20] In reality, though it showed some positive effects on ELID infection,[21] Idunn also induced brain death some time after injection.[22][11] The serum was developed with the help of Eugene Rugosa during illegal research on orphaned children,[23] and its actual goal was to justify trials to identify the human antibodies most effective against ELID, not actually curing ELID.[11] Idunn met resistance from government agencies in bringing it to market in September 2064, causing unrest from citizens eager to acquire ELID medication.[18][20][24] Galatea have also been known to deploy temporary clinics to provide medical services in the Berlin Green Zone during emergencies,[2] owned the Galatea Sanatorium in Berlin[25] and the Flora Institute in Bremen,[26] and founded the post-technologic independent community of Bohnsdorf.[27]
The Galatea facilities in Berlin were used to conceal Paradeus activities until Task Force DEFY investigated and disrupted their operations with the help of the Stasi.[28][29] After their nature was revealed, Galatea was investigated by the German Polizei,[30] most of their staff was fired[31] and half of their facilities in Berlin abruptly closed,[32] causing attempts from protestors to enter the abandoned labs in search of Idunn.[33] Officially, Galatea was closed by the National Health Commission and National Drug Regulatory Administration after they were accused of falsification of research data, corruption and stock market manipulation.[34] Nele, a former researcher at the Gray Institute of Biotechnology, a Galatea subsidiary, became an informant for the Stasi and assisted J in his investigation of the links between Galatea and Paradeus.[35]
Shortly after, the abandoned main Galatea facility in Berlin is where Aliana and Amaris had their last showdown.[36]

- In Ancient Greek mythology, Galatea (literally meaning “milk-white”) is a goddess who transformed her mortal lover into a river after his death. The name is also sometimes used for a statue transformed into a human being by Aphrodite.
