Gameplay
Although Jupiter Cannons may look intimidating, in reality, as long as you don't engage them, you'll be fine, in battle against an ACTIVE Jupiter, the Jupiter's will fire off missiles which will do massive AOE damage to whoever they're targeting, these missiles damage dummy links causing massive damage to units it hits while its active, along with being armoured, Jupiters while they're active are very devastating to go against.
However there is a way to significantly weaken the Jupiter Cannon, this is done by encircling the Jupiter Cannon, dont be alarmed it's stationary so it wont move whatsoever, but once you encircle the Jupiter it'll significantly weaken the Jupiter disabling its missile launcher when you engage it in battle causing it to rely on its turrets which deal significantly less damage and have poor accuracy.
There are several formations/strategies you can use on a Jupiter Cannon, with varying degrees of difficulty:
HG Echelon
This echelon is recommended only when the Jupiter Cannon is surrounded, as your T-Dolls will be able to avoid majority of the its shots, while not suffering much damage. If you use this type of echelon against an active Jupiter Cannon, it is recommended you change your formation to an X-formation before going into battle or move whichever T-Doll you have on position 5 to position 3. On the start of the battle, you must quickly retreat the front-most T-Doll/s as soon as the Jupiter Cannons fire.
Damage from active Jupiter Cannons cannot be dodged.
ARSMG/RFHG Echelon
Highly-recommended, as they have enough DPS to quickly dispatch of Jupiter Cannons as soon as the battle starts. These can easily deal with surrounded Jupiter Cannons, while they won't have as much trouble with active Jupiter Cannons.
If you are using an RFHG echelon, be careful with timing your tank retreat, as you often start a short distance away from the Jupiter Cannons when the battle begins. If you release to early, your echelon might accidentally walk into the tiles covered by the Jupiter Cannon's splash.
MGSG
Not as recommended, but it can work. A suggested composition for this echelon is having two SGs on positions 3 and 9 should you send them against an active Jupiter Cannon. Once the battle starts, you can either let your SGs tank the damage or retreat them just as the Jupiter Cannons are about to fire. The same warning when using an RFHG echelon applies, as your range will decrease should you retreat your two SGs. T-Dolls in the middle and read columns may end up walking into the tiles covered by the Jupiter Cannon's splash.
Trivia
- The Jupiter Cannons in the CN, KR and TW versions of Arctic Warfare were the only source of Red Envelopes necessary to unlock the much-coveted Hoxy. Neutralizing a Jupiter takes too much time for farming, and so AR FNCFNCFNC-based suicide squad strategies were invented.
