The OTs-14 “Groza” ('"Thunderstorm" or "Terror"') bullpup configured, modular assault rifle system was developed during the early 1990s by V. Telesh and Ju. Lebedev at the TsKIB SOO (Central Design Bureau for Sporting and Hunting Arms). Like the predecessor project Tiss, Groza's design is also based on AKS-74U, an attempt to integrate all the best features from close quarter combat weapons into one singular unit. Groza units have a great amount of exchangeable parts with 74U.

As a modular unit, Groza can cope with different many cartridge types such as the Soviet 7.62x39mm M43, 5.45x39mm M74, 5.56x45mm NATO and 9x39mm SP-5/6. The modular design allows Groza to be quickly refitted and chamber different calibre munitions for any given mission types, or a hot swap of configuration on the field, filling roles from a short range carbine to a longer range DMR. During the development stage an idea to fit Groza to chamber the 12.7×108mm anti-material rounds was proposed, converting Groza into an anti-material sniper, but the idea was dismissed likely due to the weapon frame being unable to cope with the large recoil.

MVD (Ministry of Internal Affairs) at the time was only interested in the 9x39mm subsonic firing configuration known as Groza-4 with the on going conflicts in Chechnya, only the Groza-4 kits was produced at that time. Though the 7.62x39mm firing Groza-1 kit was manufactured later on after finding procurement client(s).

Groza works on the same internal operational principle as AKS-74U, but the gas-operated, rotating bolt mechanism is set in bullpup configuration instead, the compact bullpup design gave Groza an increased portability and balance feel, proposing that the rifle can be fired single handily without issues. Even the some of the features such as the selective firing modes on 74U was retained. Groza-4 makes use of the 20-round magazine originally developed for Tiss, able to be fired at a rate of 700 rounds per minute. While Groza-1 is fed the AK-47/AKM 30-round magazine and able to achieve 750 rounds per minute rate of fire.

Like most modular assault rifles, Groza can be outfitted with many combat accessories on the provided rails, scope/optics such as the PSO can be mounted directly on the carrying handle. Standard issue Groza kit comes with specially designed accessories such as suppressors, night optics, fore grips and cleaning kits, on top of all that Groza also had a specially modified GP-25/30 under-barrel grenade launcher unit with the specially made alternative pistol grip design, which could launch the grenade from the launcher and fire the gun with a single trigger pull.

Much like AS Val, Groza is a rare sight to see within the Russian military, Groza is only issued to certain Spetsnaz units and combat engineers of the airborne troops. Groza saw minor live action in the Chechnya counter-terrorism campaigns.

Design
Groza appears to be a slim built T-doll with 160-165 cm of body height, long yellow hair with pink-ish hue grown well pass her knees, paired with bright golden eyes.

On the Official Girls Frontline Art Book, the artist ASK commented on the designing of Groza. "The name Groza sounded real cool so I drew a cool looking Russian lady. (觉得闪电这名字特别酷就画了英俊的毛子小姐姐)", "The hair style is low end twin pony! The tie is a sailor's neckerchief square knot! (发型是低双马尾! 胸前是金鱼草结)".

<div class="spoiler">"Pantsu is the lower waist style (啊顺便,内裤,是低腰的)."</div>

Being one of the most adaptive assault rifles in the world, this rifle comes with many spare parts, ASK commented on this in designing ideas on the art book: "The gun had many parts so I gave her a box. (枪的部件比较多就给配了个箱子)". Though this might have been inspired by the standard issue aluminum box the Groza kits comes with.

In her default art, she is holding the 7.62x39mm M74 firing Groza-1 configuration, the damaged art however shows a slightly different size barrel in terms of width and length, similar to the 9x39mm SP-5/6 firing Groza-4. Groza unit can fire different calibre cartridge by changing components, one of which is the barrel, hot swaps can even be done on the battlefield. Or perhaps this was just a simple artist mistake.

Personality
Groza possesses a cool and professional personality, shows no signs of weakness in battles, prideful and confident in her own abilities. But when approached during none-profession times, she can prove to be quite an interesting character with peculiar hobbies, evidence provided from quotations her hobbies include music, wine drinking and culinary. Unfortunately she is not very good at keeping a regular sleep pattern.

Story interactions would suggest Groza is frequently associated with other Russian T-doll, primarily Makarov and Mosin-Nagant, as well as SSP-1 during Operation Cube.

In-game
Groza possibly have the highest damage output out of all T-doll in the game in nocturnal battles, her innate high accuracy and her +200% damage increase skill, she is capable of shredding through drones, armored targets and bosses alike. The only down side of her active skill is the short duration compared to the long cooldown.

Groza is able to provide accuracy bonus to SMG units on her tile buff, which will benefit units such as SR-3MP during both nocturnal (and diurnal) combat. Her self performance and tile buff makes her a prime candidate for night battle ARSMG teams.

Her active ability provides less damage boost during diurnal combats however, though a 70% is still a very significant value increase, in short duration combat she can still push out a lot of damage.

Like its predecessor project the OTs-12 'Tiss', the design of the 'Groza' is based on the AKS-74U, and was an attempt to integrate all the best features from the various close quarter combat weapons in service into one singular unit. OTs-14 units have a great amount of interchangeable parts with the standard AK-74U.

As a modular firearm, the 'Groza' can cope with many different cartridge types such as the Soviet 7.62x39mm M43, 5.45x39mm M74, 5.56x45mm NATO and 9x39mm SP-5/6. Groza have minor interaction with the main story line and major interaction with Operation Cube.

The 'Groza' works on the same internal operational principle as the AKS-74U, but the gas-operated, rotating bolt mechanism is arranged in a bullpup configuration instead. The compact bullpup design gave the 'Groza' increased portability and improved balance, with some proposing that the rifle can be fired single-handily without issues. A number of features related to the layout of the weapon controls were retained from the AK-74U. The Groza-4 variant makes use of the 20-round magazines originally developed for the earlier 'Tiss' project, and the 'Groza' is able to be fired at a rate of 700 rounds per minute. Meanwhile, the Groza-1 is fed using AK-47/AKM 30-round magazines and is able to achieve a 750 rounds per minute rate of fire.

G&K HQ Meeting
+
Like most modular assault rifles, the OTs-14 can be outfitted with many combat accessories on the provided rails. Scopes/optics such as the PSO can be mounted directly on the carrying handle. The standard issue 'Groza' kit comes with a number of specially-designed accessories such as suppressors, night optics, foregrips, and cleaning kits. On top of all that, the rifle also had a specially modified GP-25/30 under-barrel grenade launcher unit with a custom-made alternative pistol grip design, which could launch a grenade from the launcher and fire the gun with a single trigger pull.
Groza made an appearance in chapter 3 night mission where Makarov was tasked with a not-so-honorable rescue mission.

Along with Mosin-Nagant, Groza was summoned to G&K HQ to stand guard while an important meeting was going on. Groza knew about Nagant Revolver's situation, she briefly exchanged words with Mosin who was also on the post for guard duty. Knowing that her sister have gone MIA deep inside a dangerous sector filled with Ferri elites, Groza comforted Mosin by informing her a commanding officer is overseeing the rescue duty and Nagant Revolver is likely to return unharmed. Moments later Nagant Revolver returned to the HQ.

Much like the AS Val, OTs-14 rifles are a rare sight to see within the Russian military. They are only issued to certain Spetsnaz units and combat engineers of the airborne troops. The 'Groza' saw minor action in the Chechnya counter-terrorism campaigns.

Operation Cube
|design =
Groza is a core character in Operation Cube, she serves as a reconnaissance unit in Area S06 and the bodyguard of SSP-1.
+
Groza appears to be a slim built T-Doll with an approximated 160-165cm body height. Long yellow hair with a pink-ish hue flows to well past her knees, paired with bright golden eyes. In the Official Girls Frontline Art Book, her artist, ASK, commented on the designing of Groza:

"The name 'Groza' sounded real cool, so I drew a cool-looking Russian lady. (觉得闪电这名字特别酷就画了英俊的毛子小姐姐)"

Digi-mind Upgrade Story: Mosin-Nagant
+
"The hair style is a low end twin ponytail! The tie is a sailor's neckerchief square knot. (发型是低双马尾! 胸前是金鱼草结)"
Groza made a minor appearance in Mosin-Nagant's Digi-mind upgrade back story.

The group of Russian T-doll Mosin-Nagant was part of recently came to discover a homeless kitten near the base and have decided to secretly feed it, that kitten itself however caused quite a scene during one of Commander's speeches. However for Mosin she had other concerns, other more important concerns, she is not her usual self recently, many of her friends have clearly noticed her overly cheerful behaviour is just an act to hide her stressed self.
+
<div class="spoiler">"By the way, her pantsu are of the low-waist style (啊顺便,内裤,是低腰的)."</div>

Groza was the first one to notice and spoke of this, she pulled Mosin away from the T-doll group and talked with her privately, she asked Mosin whether something has happened specifically to her that caused her abnormal behavior and does she wish to talk about it. Unwilling to reveal anything, Mosin pretended she does not know what Groza could be referring to, Groza gave up on her inquiry attempts immediately after.
+
Being one of the most adaptive assault rifles in the world, this rifle comes with many spare parts. ASK commented on this as well in the art book: "The gun had many parts, so I gave her a box. (枪的部件比较多就给配了个箱子)". It is possible this is inspired by the standard issue aluminum box the Groza weapon kits come with.

Eventually when Mosin returned to her usual self and finally received her Digi-mind upgrades, the base have also taken that homeless kitten into the rescue centre and now became part of their dorm, the group was about to hold meetings and vote for what name the cat should have, Groza's proposal is just simply name the cat "Commander".
+
In her default art, she is holding the 7.62x39mm M43 firing Groza-1 configuration. Her damaged art, however, shows a slightly different sized barrel in terms of width and length, similar to the 9x39mm SP-5/6 firing Groza-4. Groza units can fire different caliber cartridges by changing certain components, one of which is the barrel, so 'hot swaps' can even be done on the battlefield. Or perhaps this was just a simple artist mistake.

Prior to an important operation, SV-98 was busy studying the region terrain and marking potential vantage points for long range engagements. Or do you volunteer to wake me up before the mission starts?", Groza joined the two and urged them to rest before the operation, SV-98 claims she will soon, SVD and Groza returned to their bunks after the brief conversation.

Weapon Background[edit]

The OTs-14 'Groza' ("Thunderstorm") is a bullpup-configured, modular assault rifle system developed during the early 1990s by V. Telesh and Ju. Lebedev at the TsKIB SOO (Central Design Bureau for Sporting and Hunting Arms).

The modular design allows the rifle to be quickly refitted to chamber different caliber munitions for any given mission types. It also allows for quick swapping of configurations in the field, filling roles from a short range carbine to a longer range DMR. The MVD (Ministry of Internal Affairs) at the time was only interested in the 9x39mm subsonic firing configuration known as the Groza-4, so during the ongoing conflicts in Chechnya, only the Groza-4 kits were produced. Though the 7.62x39mm firing Groza-1 kit was manufactured later on after finding procurement client(s).

Much like the AS Val, OTs-14 rifles are a rare sight to see within the Russian military. They are only issued to certain Spetsnaz units and combat engineers of the airborne troops. The 'Groza' saw minor action in the Chechnya counter-terrorism campaigns.[1][2]

Character Design

Groza appears to be a slim built T-Doll with an approximated 160-165cm body height. Long yellow hair with a pink-ish hue flows to well past her knees, paired with bright golden eyes. In the Official Girls Frontline Art Book, her artist, ASK, commented on the designing of Groza:[3]

"The name 'Groza' sounded real cool, so I drew a cool-looking Russian lady. (觉得闪电这名字特别酷就画了英俊的毛子小姐姐)"

"The hair style is a low end twin ponytail! The tie is a sailor's neckerchief square knot. (发型是低双马尾! 胸前是金鱼草结)"

"By the way, her pantsu are of the low-waist style (啊顺便,内裤,是低腰的)."

In her default art, she is holding the 7.62x39mm M43 firing Groza-1 configuration. Her damaged art, however, shows a slightly different sized barrel in terms of width and length, similar to the 9x39mm SP-5/6 firing Groza-4.[4] Groza units can fire different caliber cartridges by changing certain components, one of which is the barrel, so 'hot swaps' can even be done on the battlefield. Or perhaps this was just a simple artist mistake.
