Weapon Background
Prototype machinegun develop by General Dynamics, a gas-operated, long-stroke piston with a rotating bolt machinegun that chambers the .338 calibre rounds (.338 Norma by default, but can be converted to fire .338 Lapua.), able to provide fire support at an effective range of 1700 metres at a fire rate of 500 rounds per minute. LWMMG also features quick-change barrel and collapsible stock, picatinny rails to improve modularity.
LWMMG was designed to fill the fire support gap between 7.62mm and .50 calibre machineguns, especially to provide more effective fire support and penetration of cover at a range 7.62mm rounds(mostly those fired from a M240) can not effectively cover, all while remain more mobile than a .50 calibre machinegun.[1]

Trivia
High stats, hunting impulse skill, easy expansions and highly rated artwork, LWMMG is one of the recommended MG units to level for beginners.
Because of Chinese Pinyin, putting in letters LWMMG in sequence in certain keyboard typing software will yield 老王摸摸狗 as a result, which translates to "Old man Wang pets the dog", this eventually became LWMMG's nickname amongst the Chinese player base. RFF himself also picked up on this joke.[2]
