Weapon Background
The Karabiner 98 kurz (carbine 98 short, often abbreviated as Kar98k, K98, or K98k) is a bolt-action rifle chambered for the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge. It was adopted on 21 June 1935 as the standard service rifle by the Wehrmacht of Nazi Germany. It is a shorter variant of the Gewehr 98 rifle used by Imperial Germany in WWI. It has the typical Mauser controlled feed action, is loaded by five round stripper clips, and could attach a K98 bayonet for either combat or ceremonial purposes.
Although supplemented by semi- and fully automatic firearms during World War II, the Kar98K remained the primary German rifle until the end of the war in 1945. Millions were captured by the Soviets at the conclusion of World War II and were widely distributed as military aid. The Karabiner 98k therefore continues to appear in conflicts across the world way after its service life has ended.[1]

Trivia
- Kar98k design became a controversy after the character from Mushibugyo manga, Iyo, has a similarities of Kar98k.The main illustrator of Kar98k, samail stated if his work was a pure original, while Weekly Shonen Sunday editor denying accusation to plagiarise of their works and responding the Girls' Frontline 'was a game which Hiroshi Fukuda(an author of Mushibugyo) never heard of'. Phantania, the illustrator of SKS posted about their similarities of them in twitter just before been deleted, stating if Kar98k design was debuted in April 7th, 2015, while Iyo debuted her design in January 6th, 2016.
- As for this, Iyo character design was changed and reworked in 9th issue on 27 January.[2]
- The proportion of her gun's size is a little bit awkward, thus leading people jokingly saying she's only 1.1 metre tall. Although some might argue it is an oversight from the artist, or just an aesthetic choice.
- Shes the poster girl for Girls' Frontline, and appears on the app icons for all versions of the game as well on official social media accounts.
