This is likely inspired by the fact that Project Abakan intended to produce a newer, more modern, higher performing standard service rifle, as a weapon AN-94 met and/or exceeded all the criteria but was still unable to replace AK-74 and thus in a sense "failed" all the expectations. AK-12 however managed to replace AK-74M in 2018, 12 managed to do what 94 could not.
Introduced along side AK-12, AN-94 showed her excessive attachment to AK-12 in both her quotations and story interactions, stating that AK-12 is an important being who she sworn to protect/serve. Her active ability Doll Trigger is also one of a kind, her shots deals damage twice while active, this also happens whenever she switches to a new target as a passive effect. A special graphical effect will appear over the enemy units whenever Doll Trigger procs. As observed, this skill and the passive boosted AN-94's damage output performance by a large margin.
Thanks to her S rank growth rate, AN-94 have relatively high stats at max level, above average AR units.
