Private Meeting Logs

[Sorry for taking up your time, Commander. I have an unreasonable request that I hope you might accept.]—Littara
[When we were communicating with a new member of the Community last week, a problem appeared while using pen & paper, causing a conflict. It was resolved, but it appears that communicating via writing is objectively inefficient.]—Littara
[Commander, I hope you will hold onto my notebook for some time and help me practice speaking normally. I know that it's time-consuming, and will cause a loss in income for that period. If it isn't convenient, please don't hesitate to say no.]—Littara
[Thank you, Commander, I'll do my best! I'll gradually make back the Collapse Pieces spent.]—LittaraOperation Conversation Practice I

[You’re here, Commander. I’ve packed up my pen and paper. Please hold onto them for me.]–Littara
[I’ll do my best to use my own voice to speak my mind. Please help me, Commander.]–LittaraI'll do my best if you trust me so much, Littara.
I've never done conversational practice with anyone else. I'm not an expert in this field either. Considering that, if anything you can't express in words comes up, you should express it via paper.
C-Commander, makes considerations... I-I agree!
I, I... talk, it's hard... Commander, I'm s-sorry...There's nothing to be sorry for. None of these things are your fault, Littara. When Dolls were created, in order to make them more like humans, the designers added to them flaws only humans would have.
It's very courageous of you to try and overcome challenges with effort, Littara.
T-thank... thank you, Commander!
You're pretty nervous when using day-to-day terms. Let's just start from there, shall we?
We can simplify this process as helping you study a language that you can write, listen, but not speak. If we look at it that way, it's not particularly hard, just pretty time-consuming.
Let's start with some easy words. Our first one will be-
C-C-Commander!
Do you have something to say, Littara?

The f-first word, C, Comman... der!
I understand. We'll start from that word then, if you'd like.

Comm, Commander!
Good, keep going.

C-Commander.
Very good. Almost perfect.

This time, I'll-Commander!
Ah, that was good!

Commander... Commander, Commander... Like...
Operation Conversation Practice II

Commander, communication, really hard... But I'll d-do my best!

Commander? W-Why laughing?
Good job, Littara. At least, you're not so nervous you can't get a single word out in front of me.
It took you about five minutes to get one word down with practice. We'll handle the rest of the words like this as well, until we can put together sentences.
There will be a great divide between managing words and complete sentences.
But I believe that you can do it.
I-I can! I need to expr-express myself to prog, progress my plan!
N-No matter how long it takes, I need to, to practice!I see your resolve, Littara. Let's practice a few more words.

A-alright!
You're a fast learner, Littara. You're already done with ten words in fifteen minutes.
With this efficiency, you should be done with most of the words used in conventional communication in a year or two.
Because, words, easy. Hard words, need, long time, to learn.
Now, speaking in sentences, v-very hard.
Two years, plan, not enough.
Need, further planning. You're better at planning ahead than I am, Littara. Let's go with whatever you're planning.
You were attempting a simple sentence, right? That wasn't bad. Get some practice in, and you'll be speaking much more smoothly in no time.
Commander, m-my, pen and notebook.
You'd like them back now? You don't need me to hold onto them anymore?

Important information, have t-to say... Writing, more efficient.
Alright.

[To not waste your time, Commander, I'll draft up the plan myself and carry it out myself. Can you help me verify its practicality?]–Littara
I understand. I'll leave the details to you.
Operation Conversation Practice III

[There are two categories of words I need to grasp. Words used in daily life, and professional terminology.]–Littara
[The former is relatively simple, and i will grasp them relatively quickly; professional terminology will require more time.]–Littara
[The former is not important in work. Ullrid and Dushevnaya have gotten used to communicating with me via paper. If it is necessary, I can go without the latter for now as well. Ullrid can convey my plans.]–Littara
Looking at it from a long-term perspective though, if I continue to rely on Ullrid to interpret for me, I will suffer from a severe loss of individuality. I trust Ullrid, but I hope to be able to have her back when she must be elsewhere.]–Littara
[An adequate strategist must be able to guide people through times of crisis, as well as suggest strategies for a leader in normal times.]–Littara
[It might sound grand, but that's how I will approach it.]–Littara
[Commander, I've only told you about this. Could you not tell Ullrid? She relies on me often for strategic decisions, and she'd get into a fuss on my behalf if she catches wind of this.]–LittaraOf course. The fact that you're willing to tell me your honest thoughts at all represents how much you trust me. I will treasure that.
The way you approach it is very mature. The way you look at it, Ullrid is the Community's leader, but the force that keeps it running is your long-term planning and everyone else's efforts.
Ullrid is responsible for drawing the Community together with her charismatic leadership, and you're responsible for holding it together. The Community might still grapple with many issues, but you've done well to keep it running and developing as it is.
Keep going. I believe that the Community will only improve more and more with your decision-making.
[I know that you say these things to boost my confidence, Commander, but the Community really has more that its fair share of issues. Many of which will take quite some time to resolve.]–Littara
[Blind confidence and optimism don't contribute towards problem solving. Maybe the others at the Community can allow themselves those things, but I cannot. I must always keep a calm, level head.]–Littara
[Because I'm the brains of the Community.]–LittaraI know.

C-Commander?
You always look at things long-term, and approach problems practically with never a wasted word.
I just thought that you were very cute just then, so very cool just a second ago, but you're blushing now.
I, I just, I-
[Commander, I'm just a little too nervous.]–LittaraYou're so mature and reliable at such a young age. Your Commander's at a loss for how to help you.

N-no. Commander, is my pillar.
I-I need Commander!I'm happy to be able to help Littara, too. I was just kidding.

Commander, mean...
[Please don't bully me, Commander!]–Littara
[I treasure any opportunity to have you to myself outside of practice, Commander.]–LittaraI'm happy to be of help, too.
Operation Conversation Practice IV

[Commander, I've made estimations based on my current scheduling and number of words to be learnt. In order to reach a conversational level similar to you, Commander, I would have to practice for at least three years.]–Littara
[This estimation is based upon the time I have remaining once I complete my daily tasks. If the Community has another incident such as a resource exhaustion or forced relocation, the estimated time will be further increased.]–Littara
[Maintaining consistent practice will be difficult. Your time is also precious, Commander. I cannot take up so much of your time with something with very little return for you.]–Littara(Littara bows. Her glasses begin to slip off the bridge of her nose, and she rushes to catch it in a clumsy motion.)
(I reach out to catch her glasses, helping her put them back on as I squeeze her cheeks.)
Thanks, Commander?!
Why the, the, sudden squeezing?Think nothing of it. I was just happy to hear that you wanted to respect my time.
I squeezed your face because I wanted to. Do you dislike that, Littara?
Of cour-course not!
Just didn't think. You would, do that, Commander.Relax, Littara, we're not at work right now. Just take it as us having a casual chat.

O-okay!
I can understand why you're feeling the pressure, I used to be like that as well. Missions to complete, affairs on base to handle, things that need my oversight. I often feel like I don't have the energy to manage it all.
But since everyone calls me Commander, I must bear the responsibility of that title. Even if the pressure is great, I have to continue. There's no one else who the work can be left to.
I cannot reconcile it internally, yet but I have to force myself. Thought, that's how I gradually got used to those professional environments that aren't meant for people at all...
Commander, stronger than me.
I'm not telling you about this to show off, Littara. I just wanted to say that the responsibility you bear is always meaningful.
Every plan of yours helps out the Dolls in the Community in a real, tangible way, helping everyone approach problems with the best solution. We must choose to sacrifice something in this process.
Sometimes we must even deceive and obfuscate. Compared to that, just burning yourself out is a very small price to pay, relatively speaking.
These things, I've never said to anyone else. In front of you, though, Littara, I can speak freely. Because I think you can understand my thoughts.
[I understand everything you're saying, Commander. You're right, the decisions that are the best for everyone are often the hardest to make.]–Littara
[I wish that in the near future, I can become stronger, more mature, and more rational. So I can help more people and stand with the Commander, to relieve your troubles.]–LittaraYou've already helped by listening to me, Littara.
As a return gift, let me chat with you, Littara. I can't guarantee that it'll teach you speaking technique, but i can be someone you can get more familiar with speaking to.
...Alright. Thanks, Commander.

Yeah, I, like you the most, Commander...
