A number of Upas are summoned by Mayuri Shiina during O Stage 0. It is only in the last fight of the stage that it is revealed their appearance was an illusion of Mayuri's delirious mind, and that they are actually Twiners.
Lore / Story involvement
In Steins;Gate, Upa is the mascot of the RaiNet Kakeru franchise. A rare Metal Upa keychain obtained by Mayuri Shiina from a gacha machine plays a role in the story. All Upas appearing in Project neural Cloud are Metal Upas.
Mayuri summons a big Upa as a weapon in Project Neural Cloud. An Upa plushie can be seen on the sofa from the event-exclusive furniture. When visiting the Future Gadget Lab for the first time, the Professor sees Persicaria - Shining EdgePersicaria - Shining Edge eyeing the plushie and makes a note to replicate it for her.[1]
