Record 1
After leaving Griffin, she worked in various satellite cities. For some time she was even a member of the same law enforcement department where Mosin-Nagant, Ksenia, and Nagant worked. Now she's back as a part of the Elmo. Her nature is gentle and kind, humble and selfless, and she is very determined to protect her companions. In her effort to "help everyone", she constantly learns new skills, and the number of licenses she possesses is thicker than a dictionary. She isn't good at turning others down, which occasionally leads to them taking advantage of her, but despite that her principles remains unwavering - "No matter what wish the Commander has, Papasha will make sure to fulfill it!"
Record 2
Seeing her renewal application denied, Papasha let out a sigh.
Indeed, she should've foreseen...After the recent restructuring, Griffin needs the elite and the exceptional. She is but an outdated model with mediocre combat abilities...How can she be a burden in such times? Remaining positions are scarce anyway, and she should willingly accept relocation for the good of Griffin, so as to not cause Ms. Helian any discomfort.
Still... she found it hard to leave Griffin.
On the other hand, perhaps her abilities may be more useful elsewhere? No... No matter what others thought, she needed to push herself harder. She strongly believed that it is not the stage that should be honored, but rather the actions. It was time to choose the relocation unit. She was wondering where she would be sent, but ultimately, the location mattered little. Her conviction to protect everyone stays the same, no matter where she is, right?
Record 3
"Papasha, are you available now?"
"Papasha, over here!"
"Hey, you know how to operate this machine, right? Come help me out!"
In response to these casual requests, Papasha would always agree as if it was the most natural thing ever. Even if her shift had already ended, even if there was no incentive to aid them, and even when she had to dig into her own pockets instead—she was always ready to help with a warm smile every time someone required assistance.
Occasionally, she would receive a few thank-you letters from the locals, as well as rare praise from her colleagues, recorded by her auditory module. She would carefully collect them and treat them as prized possessions, like a child's candy or a hero's medal of honor. In moments of fatigue, reminiscing about those compliments fills her with a motivation to face another day.
She firmly believes that protecting everyone is an honor in itself.
Record 4
When it comes to the person with the most certifications and licenses on the Elmo, everyone instantly thinks of Papasha.
Certificates for hazardous material transportation, gantry crane operations, fusion welding and thermal cutting... Some of them were obtained in satellite cities, while yet more were earned after her return to the Elmo. Papasha seems to hold a license for virtually every skill one can think of from a myriad of different professions.
No one knows where she finds the time to study, and occasionally she encounters fields that she hasn't explored before. However, everyone knows that whenever there is an issue, Papasha is certain to try her best to help.
"Hmm, this is something I haven't done before... No worries, I'll read up on it! I will certainly be able to lend a hand!"
Record 5
Perhaps Papasha learned a big portion of her skills from those around her, but there is one thing only she can do.
Usually Papasha always greets everyone with a smile, but when she witnesses injustices, when a companion is wounded, or she loses contact with the Commander, abnormalities start occurring in the surrounding machinery.
They can be as minor as issues with lighting or door functions, or as severe as drones going rogue or the Elmo speeding up uncontrollably...
Yet, this peculiar trait doesn't always cause trouble; in critical situations, it can occasionally prevent an impending disaster. Papasha constantly strives to gain control over it, and situations that stir up her emotions gradually decrease. But every time the Commander wanders into harm's way, these disruptions promptly resurface.
“If only the Commander could always remains safe... I must do my best to protect them!” Papasha often thinks.
Record 6
I was curious whether Papasha had come across any memorable cases during her time in the security team, so I brought it up during some casual chat.
"Actually, yes, there was one incident. When I was assisting a resident once, I inadvertently stumbled upon a lead linked to a murder case. That case, later on, linked back to an older unidentified body case and eventually led me to bust an identity chip theft and smuggling ring. These guys would even harm innocent citizens just for their own benefit. It was just absolutely intolerable!"
"So, the memorable part is that all cases were linked and you had to peel away layers one by one during the investigation?"
"Ah, actually it's because I couldn't turn down a request from a citizen. This caused my work to be delayed and resulted in a punishment for my team. However, without this incident, I wouldn't have been able to acquire that lead which helped everyone crack the case. I lost some and gained some in return—and that's the charm of it.
She pulled out a brooch, fiddled with it for a second, and then it suddenly spoke, “Sorry, I'm busy at the moment!”
”Look, comrade Nagant even gave me this device that allows me to decline requests. Nonetheless, it hasn't come in handy since my return to the Elmo... After all, it's Papasha's duty to help everyone, especially the Commander!“
Record 7
Papasha has this love for wearing the same outfit. I understand that Dolls don't need to switch up their style like us humans, but when I see others changing their looks I couldn't help but ask if she wanted some new clothes.
Papasha looked pleasantly surprised but also a tad hesitant.
"I appreciate your kindness, Commander! However... I wear this all the time for a reason. It's my uniform from my time in a police squad in a satellite city, not to mention I also wore it when we crossed paths again. It holds great sentimental value. Whenever I wear it, I'm constantly reminded of my duty to protect everyone, so I'm unlikely to ever forget to protect you, Commander!"
She suddenly adjusted the shiny medal on her chest and hastily added that she's been taking good care of the uniform by cleaning and repairing it regularly, hoping it wouldn't impact her work, combat performance or make me feel embarrassed.
Judging from her flustered face, she didn't seem likely to give in anytime soon. Maybe next time, I'll surprise her with a new outfit in her wardrobe and call it a reward for protecting everyone. That way, I'm sure she won't refuse it.
Record 8
Late at night, having finally finished my workload, I notice a faint glow coming from Papasha's dorm—at this hour, that's the only lit up place aside from the ops room.
Quietly, I push the door open only to find Papasha fast asleep at her desk with the screen in front of her still on. What caught my eye on the screen was a checklist.
"Today's To-Do List:
Routine combat drill - check
Assist comrade Mayling in repairing the warehouse surveillance drone - check
Help the captain compile the “Э-606 Excavator Maintenance Guide” - check
Aid the Commander in organizing materials - check,
Help the Commander make a new seat cushion - check. While the Commander was asleep, I took the liberty of measuring their physiological curvature. I hope the cushions will be even more comfortable this time around. I'll ask the Commander about it tomorrow!
Support the Commander in checking the outdoor equipment and mending any wear and tear - check. However, if possible, I'd prefer the Commander to avoid visiting dangerous locations...
Bargain with the underground brokers on Commander's behalf - in progress (16/30). I haven't completely grasped the haggling techniques I learned from comrade Ksenia yet. Need to find more case studies for a thorough learning experience!
Plan an anniversary gift for the Commander - pending... I'm still puzzled about the perfect gift. Beginning to prepare well in advance didn't help... What if the Commander doesn't like my choice? Perhaps... should I simply ask? But that would surely strip the gift of its element of surprise and it wouldn't be thoughtful...
Don't get disheartened so easily, Papasha! Since I've got time, I'll take it slow. I'm sure I'll eventually figure out the Commander's personality!
Yes! We'll keep working hard tomorrow as well!

Sorry to bother you, Commander. Can I ask for your help with something?
I noticed a City Warden sitting idle on the Elmo and I feel like it's a bit of a waste to leave it like that. Maybe we could repair it and put it to use.
I already procured most of the parts, but I can't afford the rest on my savings alone.
So... I just wonder if you could advance some of my salary to purchase the remaining parts?
Spasibo, Commander! I'll go place the order with Comrade Mayling right away!True To The Roots I

Commander, the parts I asked Comrade Mayling to order have just arrived. We can finally start repairing the City Warden.
That’s some good news… Do you need my help with that?

...Eh? Can I really ask for your help? Won’t working on the City Warden affect your upcoming schedule?
We just wrapped up part of the ongoing commission, I figure we still have some time before the next phase begins.
Besides, it’s your wish after all… I’d like to stay at your side and help you fulfill it as much as possible.
Sorry for the trouble then~ Here’s the remodeling plan I’ve drawn up. Please help me review it and see if there’s anything needing adjustment or change.
Let’s see… Isn’t the amount of onboard weaponry a little bit overkill? And this–”Synchronized Combat Module”? I’ve never heard of this before.

It’s a modified tactical module I installed before… capable of coordinating every weapon system onboard to provide an optimal attack vector.
With how outdated its weapon systems are, the Synchronized Combat Module is there to make up for the shortcomings through data link with other units.
After all, this thing rolled off its production line around the same time as me. It needs all the advantages it can get to remain effective on the battlefield.
As for why the Synchronized Combat Module specifically… I thought it could be hooked up to fight alongside me.
Maybe we can achieve some surprising results in future battles once we get our perfect coordination going. You’ll never know for sure.I see… In that case, let’s give it the best we’ve got.

...Turns out it’s a little more complicated that I expected. Large portions of the City Warden’s chassis have aged badly, and many components would require a modified connection protocol to work.
With this model of grenade launcher–the City Warden’s fire-control system doesn’t recognize it. Installing it will risk the possibility of friendly fire.
And this machine gun model–it has a bad habit of catastrophic malfunction after sustained automatic fire. We need to check what’s up with that....That’s indeed very dangerous. Should we start with some simpler modules? That way we can quickly gauge its performance and make later modifications easier.

Simpler modules? You mean…?
Say… I think this module looks quite fitting.

Cleaning module: best for handling common household chores… You want to use it to clean up the Elmo, Commander?
Yeah, perfect for keeping the lounge clean… What’s wrong, Papasha? You look a little disappointed.

N-nothing at all! If you say so, we can definitely modify it that way. Let’s begin, I’m ready!
We haven’t ordered the necessary parts yet. Even if we order now, the soonest they could arrive is tomorrow.

O-okay! Then I’ll leave it to you, Commander!
True To The Roots II
So this is the result of the City Warden’s cleaning effort? Looks quite decent, it even got all the nooks and crannies.

Yeah, and it’s doing a better job than I am in some places… That glass panel up there took me almost half an hour last time.
…Anyway. Commander, I’ve already installed every other module. Let’s move on to the weapons now.True, now that we’ve restored its basic performance, it would be great if it can help everyone out on the battlefield. Let’s give it a try.

Whew! While it took some time, but we finally upgraded the standard weapon system! Thank you, Commander!
I simply lent you a hand–it was your effort that got all the modules working seamlessly
Speaking of, you’re really good as a mechanic, huh, Papasha? …I never noticed you had such an affinity for machines back at Griffin.
Well… I only picked it up after settling down in the Green Zone’s satellite city and started working as a patrol.
Most of my teammates were outdated models just like me. Many of our parts have long since gone out of production.
Under such dire conditions, we had no choice but to teach ourselves how to work on other’s frames and help with repairs… Over time, I mastered this skill.
Are you trying to reach for a tool, Commander? Because you’re clutching my hand…No, I just want to hold your hand. Those days away from griffin must’ve been hard for you.

I-it was my fault due to inexperience, not yours… I should’ve filed the report earlier. ‘
…Commander, I can’t control my hand all of a sudden. I think my aging frame is causing this.Didn’t you just go through maintenance a while ago? It shouldn’t be this bad… OW! Ouch! Your grip’s getting a little too tight!

Sorry! But it’s not just my hand–my other joints aren’t responding either…
What? Why is there a “cleaning command is on” pop-up?
W-what should I do, Commander?Losing control… Cleaning command…
Could it be… the City Warden activated the synchronization module and, without us realizing, reversed the control on you?
Oh no, its cleaning module was installed on me previously, so that’s entirely possible… C-Commander, I can't control myself. I think I’m about to drag you into a run. Be careful!
W-wait! Ahhhhh!
That was really dangerous, but… also kind of fun.
We better stop adding any more modules to the Warden until the synchronization module is fully functional.
Yeah… Sorry, Commander. Is your hand okay?
Still hurts a little, but it’s nothing serious. I’ll just get some rest and it should be fine.
True To The Roots III
Come to think of it, I’ve never asked why you wanted to remodel the Warden in the first place…

I… On one hand, I want it to be useful to you, and on the other, I kind of resonate with it.
More and more Dolls are joining the Elmo crew as of late. They’re all so mighty and have their own unique personalities.
In comparison, I… whether it's in terms of physical prowess or neural capabilities, I stand no chance… I can’t even be of help to anyone while in the field.
And so, I started taking part in less and less missions, instead spending most of my time doing logistics or just helping where I could.
…Ah, I don't mean to blame you, Commander; I know the difficulties you face, so I wanted to help in my own way.
That’s when I noticed the City Warden sitting in the Elmo’s storeroom....So you’ve been working on the Warden with those feelings in mind, Papasha.

Yeah. The only thought on my mind was… if I can successfully remodel it, maybe it can help you in some way, Commander…
But alas… just like me, it too is unable to keep up with the times.
Even with your help, it’s still only good for doing house chores–and probably just get in the way if you try to use it in battle. That thought alone makes me feel at a loss....Come here, Papasha.

...Eh? C-Commander! The synchronization module interface just popped up again! I-I can’t control myself!
A straight-up hug this time, huh? Let me guess… after installing the cleaning module last time, you also added a “healing hug module”?

Hmm, yes… I can’t control my body right now. I have no choice but to keep holding you like this, Commander.
…Does this bother you? I apologize in advance if I’m taking up your time. How could I find this bothersome when you’re this cute? The force of the hug is just right too. It’s nothing like last time when you almost crushed my hand.

I-I’m glad to hear that… When the error pop-up ends, I’ll go remove the synchronization module.
If it keeps executing the wrong command like this, it may just put everyone in danger on the battlefield…
…Even with the best effort, a rust bucket really is worthless at the end of the day.I say we should keep the synchronization module for now. You’ve poured so much time and effort into it, and it’s simply not achieving its best potential right now.
Whether it's you or the Warden, what you need is more time. It has nothing to do with being outdated or not performing on part–I’m just happy that you are here to help.
C-Commander…
Hmm? I think your arms are loosening up. Did the module stop running?

N-not yet! I think it’s still malfunctioning, I need to hug you a little longer…
I see… we’ll do as you say then. But from now on, you must only activate the Warden after finishing a full diagnostic, okay?

R-right, that must be why this is happening… even though the training made clear mention of this.
Commander, I’m so sorry. It’s okay. Just remember, safety comes first.
True To The Roots IV
Papasha, your teamwork with the City Warden during that mission was pretty good.
I reckon that seamless coordination can even let you go toe-to-toe against a proper elite unit of today. Guess that’s the synchronization module’s true power.
I owe it all to you, Commander–without you, I wouldn’t be able to stand on my own…
But that’s not enough… I’ll keep working hard so that I can contribute more for you....I really appreciate your effort, Papasha, but I don't want you to think your contribution is all that makes you worthwhile.

When you left Griffin… I cried all the time. And it’s not just me, many of our old comrades too… It was when we truly understood the meaning of tears.
Was our weakness the reason you left us, we wondered, especially after learning what you sacrificed for our freedom…Papasha…
Sorry for causing such painful memories.
No, Commander. Even though these are painful memories, I can finally understand what you were thinking… now that we’ve reunited and I’ve learned more about you…
Had you stayed, I would’ve been perfectly content with just following you around. It was precisely that separation that taught even someone like me how to work hard.
There was a time I was afraid of being left behind, of repeating what happened at the Green Zone’s satellite city.
But now I’ve seen through it all: things like that will never happen as long as you're around.
And during these times together, I’ve also realized what kind of feeling I’m harbouring for you.
Ah, the synchronization module is running again. I feel like I’m about to hug you…
Sorry, Commander. After this is over, I’ll go cut the Warden’s power.Leave it to me this time.
You've worked hard for a long time, Papasha.
I won't leave you again.
Commander… M-my Commander!
Actually… there’s something I want to confess… This time around… And last time too… I…If you're trying to say that the synchronization module isn’t actually malfunctioning, I already knew.
You know, you can be a little too considerate at times, Papasha. You always think for everyone else and keep repressing your own feelings.
When we’re together like this, it’s okay if you want to act all spoiled. I don't mind it.
Hmm, okay… Thank you, Commander. If that's the case…

Hehe, I’ll slowly learn how to act spoiled. Please keep watching over me, Commander.
