The actual name of the sight itself is SWORD Multi-Weapon Sight. Developed by SAFRAN Sagem, it features adjustable day/night 4x Optical Sight, uncooled thermal imager with video sequence capture, and laser rangefinder which combined in one sighting device. As a part of FELIN combat system, modified FAMAS that exclusively compatible with SWORD sight which features control button was used to maximise the potential of the FELIN system itself. However, depending of the usage itself, operator doesn't require FELIN combat suit and related equipment to operate SWORD Multi-Weapon sight; some of FAMAS variant excluded the controllable second grip which is known as FAMAS Valorisé or upgraded.*Despite its size, the actual weight is around 1.2 lbs or 0.544 kg, which is lighter than Vietnam-Era AN/PVS-2 Small Starlight Night Vision Scope.*Technically, the SWORD Multi-Weapon Sight capable to be attached on all assault/sniper rifles, or machine guns with mounting rail on it and not limited to FAMAS Valorisé only.
