Weapon Background
The CZ Scorpion EVO 3 is a modern submachine gun/carbine manufactured by Czech firearm manufacturer Česká zbrojovka Uherský Brod (usually just referred to as CZ). The EVO 3 designation denotes that the firearm is the third generation of CZ's line of small submachine guns started by the Škorpion vz. 61. The weapon is characterized by exceptional ergonomics, durability, and ease of use, and used by security forces and armies around the world.
The EVO 3 is a blowback operated carbine chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum, and is evolved from a Slovak prototype submachine gun called the 'Laugo'. The weapon is constructed of mostly polymer, making it a lightweight and compact firearm. Several variants of the EVO 3 are produced by CZ: a select-fire submachine gun variant designated the EVO 3 A1, and a semi-automatic carbine variant designated as EVO 3 S1. The A1 variant features a charging handle that can be swapped to either side of the gun, along with an ambidextrous select fire switch, giving the operator the choice of "safe", semi-automatic, three-round burst, or fully automatic fire. Meanwhile, the S1's switch only features the "safe" and semi-automatic fire options. The standard version comes equipped with a folding, adjustable and fully removable stock for easy transport. The hand guard is lined with multiple Picatinny rails for the addition of attachments such as grips, sights, flashlights, and lasers. The hand guard on the American semi-automatic version features M-LOK attachment points, with a single Picatinny rail on top.[1]
No tools are necessary for routine maintenance disassembly. The EVO 3's low weight and small dimensions facilitate concealed carry and use in very confined spaces. Some of the characteristic features of this weapon include: good balancing making for quick and easy aiming, highly accurate fire, a long service life, and impressive reliability under all conditions.
