The FARA 83 (Fusil Automático República Argentina, or "Argentine Republic Automatic Rifle") was a rifle locally designed and developed for the Argentine Army in the 1980s. It was one of the first indigenously-designed assault rifles in South America.[1]

Argentina began development for a natively designed assault rifle in the early 1980s, when the government was still controlled by the National Reorganization Process. The DGFM (Dirección General de Fabricaciones Militares, or "General Government Directorate for Military Procurements") ordered a replacement be designed for the FMAP FAL, a licensed copy of the Belgian FN FAL that Argentina had been using as its primary service arm. The first prototypes were completed in 1981, but production didn't start until 1984.

During the late 1980s, under Carlos Menem's tenure as president, the country was undergoing economic difficulties. The economic crisis severely limited the production of modern weapons. President Menem, in an effort to help cut back on spending, cancelled several military projects, including the Condor I and Condor II, the FARA 83, and the SAIA 90. He was also forced to close several armament factories, including TAMSE (Tanque Argentino Mediano Sociedad del Estado), which was responsible for TAM tanks, and the Domecq Garcia Shipyard (the only submarine-related shipyard in the country). Production of the FARA 83 rifle ground to a halt after 1193 rifles had been completed. However, production was resumed in 1990. It is unknown exactly how many rifles were made, but for the most part the Argentine Armed Forces are still armed with the FAL rifle, while the FARA 83 is used as a secondary weapon.

Character Background

She's used to playing the observer when it comes to interpersonal relationships. She's very alert and very skilled at capturing evanescent shifts and changes. Her hobby is photography but she only ever uses instant cameras. She often climbs freestyle to strange places in order to take pictures which satisfy her inner principles, and then ends up getting stuck there... After she is rescued, she gifts the pictures to her rescuer as a token of thanks.
