Weapon Background

Unveiled to public in 1999, OTs-39 is a selective fire, blow-back operated SMG developed by TsKIB SOO. Designed to chamber the 7.62x25mm Tokarev cartridge, OTs-39 have access to the 20, 30 or 42-rounds magazines from the other Tokarev cartridge firing weapons.

OTs-39 has an ambidextrous fire selector switch on each side of the weapon allowing instant access to the user, the weapon can be equipped with an integral laser aiming module for close quarters use. OTs-39 also features a right side folding weapon stock.

Trivia

• OTs-39 is only the Russian SMG that utilize an old Soviet 7,62x25mm Tokarev which mainly used in TT pistol, PPSh-41 and PPS-43 after the Fall of Soviet Union. Also, OTs-39 Rate of Fire is considered as a slowest among SMG that utilize 7,62x25mm Tokarev as their primary ammunition.
  • Aside of 7,62x25mm Tokarev use as primary ammunition, OTs-39 should be compatible with 7,63x25mm Mauser.
  • OTs-39P is the 9mm variant of it's predecessor, which uses 9x19mm Parabellum or Russian 7N31 Overpressured 9mm caliber. This variant significantly improves stopping power over the original variant does.
