M16A1:You’re sure you want me to go in alone?
Persica: Don’t forget, M16, you now have access to the Sangvis mainframe.
A quick glance tells me that the layout of the interior is very complicated. I don’t know how long I’ll take to find it.
Scan the terrain features and see if they match the data in your neural cloud.

Persica: Don’t forget, M16, you can enter the SF network now.
[M16 walks toward the entrance and starts scanning and matching.]
Scan the special features of the terrain and see it it matches anything in your neural cloud.

M16A1:Huh? This record...
I seem to possess parts of this factory’s blueprint in my neural cloud?
When was it...saved in here...?

[M16 walks toward the entrance of the factory and begins scanning and matching.]
Persica: So it’s true...
M16, you’ve been here before. Your neural cloud has the authorization to download the blueprint.

M16A1:I’ve..been here before?
But I...don’t remember it at all...

M16A1:Eh? These records are...
Persica: Neural clouds can be modified. Some records in yours have been completely wiped.
Why do I have a partial map of this factory in my neural cloud?
You know, of course...that your neural cloud can’t be duplicated?
When... was this map saved...

Persica: As I thought...
M16A1:Indeed...
M16, you came here once, and your neural cloud contains the authorization needed to download the map.
Once you connected to the factory’s network, you re-downloaded it.

M16A1:I… came here once?
Persica: Which means, all your memories are singular. No back-up.
But I… don’t remember doing so...
If they’re wiped...those memories will really cease to exist...
...!

Persica: Neural clouds can be altered. Several parts of your neural cloud’s records have been completely erased.
M16A1:What. Isn’t that just stating the obvious?
You should still remember that your neural cloud can’t be replicated, right?

M16A1:Yes, that’s true...
Persica: So that’s what it is...! So...they’ve exploited this...! Dammit!
This operation really is a crazy gamble...
I’ve been pretty lucky so far judging from things.

Persica: That would imply that all your memories are unique and can’t be replicated.
[...M16 lets out a heavy sigh.]
So if your memories were wiped… then those memories would no longer exist...

Persica: …!
M16A1:Persica...what the hell are you talking about?

M16A1:What is it, isn’t what you said simple common sense?
Persica: M16A1, do you know...about the Butterfly Incident?
Persica: So that was it, huh… so it was… making use of that feature… dammit!
It would seem that operation really was a huge gamble…
Given the present circumstances,, I guess I was pretty lucky.

M16A1:Hmm. The accident that Lyco died in?

[M16 sighs long and deeply.]
Persica: That’s right... A riot took place in a Sangvis factory within a single night. Reason unknown. A complete mystery.
Lyco also died in this accident, and Sangvis Ferri has been the enemy of mankind ever since.

M16A1:So this factory...is where all this trouble started?

M16A1:Persica… what exactly are you saying?
Persica: By the look of things...that’s the only possible thought.

Persica: M16A1, do you know about the Butterfly Incident?
M16A1:Still, that's not a particularly useful piece of information to have now. I've taken over the factory's authorization and opened the door.
I'm now moving inside the factory. It's full of bullet holes, blood stains and broken parts.
Nothing important though. Somebody must've cleaned up.

M16A1:Is that the one where Lyco met with an accident?
Persica: Which is why we need to investigate the signal.
M16, ignore these trivial things and head deeper. You're running out of time.

Persica: That’s right… there was a riot in the Sangvis Ferri factory one night. The reasons for it were unknown and the matter was shrouded in secrecy.
M16A1:Ha, I honestly don't give a damn about what happened here, or how my neural cloud has been tampered with.
Lyco died in that incident, and from then on SF became an enemy of mankind.
But I must remind you again of the reason I accepted this order even though it meant not telling my friends and the Commander the truth. You know why...

M16A1:So this factory… was the source of all the trouble?

Persica: Based on how things are right now… that appears to be the case.

M16A1:Still, there’s no point knowing about that now, right? I’ve gained access to the factory. Even the main door’s open to me.
I’m heading deeper into the factory now. There’s bullet holes everywhere, as well as blood and smashed-up parts.
But there’s nothing important here. Looks like it must have been cleaned up.

Persica: That’s why we need to investigate that signal.
M16, go further in and check. Don’t worry about unnecessary things. You don’t have much time.

M16A1:Hah. I don’t care about what happened here, or what happened to my neural cloud.
But let me remind you again; the reason why I’m willing to accept this order while keeping it from my friends and the Commander is because...

Persica: Because it is your only order, and an absolute one, of the highest priority.
Don’t worry, M16. On that point, you and I are of one mind.

Persica: This is the one and only order I’m giving you. It’s of the highest priority, and it’s absolute.
Don’t worry, M16. We’re on the same page about this.

[An hour later. M16 approaches the signal source.]

M16A1:The signal should be coming from here.
It's a factory. Abandoned, of course.

Persica: Head inside, M16.
Find the signal and confirm it.

M16A1:You sure you want me to go in there alone?
I gave the factory a quick scan and the internal structure seems incredibly complex. I’m not sure how long it’s gonna take to find it.

Persica: Don’t forget, M16, you now have access to the Sangvis mainframe.
Scan the terrain features and see if they match the data in your neural cloud.

[M16 walks toward the entrance and starts scanning and matching.]

M16A1:Huh? This record...
I seem to possess parts of this factory’s blueprint in my neural cloud?
When was it...saved in here...?

Persica: So it’s true...
M16, you’ve been here before. Your neural cloud has the authorization to download the blueprint.
Once you connect to the factory’s network, it should start downloading again.

M16A1:I’ve..been here before?
But I...don’t remember it at all...

Persica: Neural clouds can be modified. Some records in yours have been completely wiped.
You know, of course...that your neural cloud can’t be duplicated?

M16A1:Indeed...

Persica: Which means, all your memories are singular. No back-up.
If they’re wiped...those memories will really cease to exist...

...!

M16A1:What. Isn’t that just stating the obvious?

Persica: So that’s what it is...! So...they’ve exploited this...! Dammit!
This operation really is a crazy gamble...
I’ve been pretty lucky so far judging from things.

[...M16 lets out a heavy sigh.]

M16A1:Persica...what the hell are you talking about?

Persica: M16A1, do you know...about the Butterfly Incident?

M16A1:Hmm. The accident that Lyco died in?

Persica: That’s right... A riot took place in a Sangvis factory within a single night. Reason unknown. A complete mystery.
Lyco also died in this accident, and Sangvis Ferri has been the enemy of mankind ever since.

M16A1:So this factory...is where all this trouble started?

Persica: By the look of things...that’s the only possible thought.

M16A1:Still, that's not a particularly useful piece of information to have now. I've taken over the factory's authorization and opened the door.
I'm now moving inside the factory. It's full of bullet holes, blood stains and broken parts.
Nothing important though. Somebody must've cleaned up.

Persica: Which is why we need to investigate the signal.
M16, ignore these trivial things and head deeper. You're running out of time.

M16A1:Ha, I honestly don't give a damn about what happened here, or how my neural cloud has been tampered with.
But I must remind you again of the reason I accepted this order even though it meant not telling my friends and the Commander the truth. You know why...

Persica: This is the one and only order I’m giving you. It’s of the highest priority, and it’s absolute.
Don’t worry, M16. We’re on the same page about this.
