Revision as of 11:33, 14 December 2020

Animations on the Girls' Frontline Wiki try to give the user a first impression of how the animation will look in the game. It is not possible to recreate the animations from the game 1:1.

The animations shown are rendered and do not have a video format (GIF, WEBM, MP4,...). There is no easy way to record (GIF, MP4, WEBM,...) the animations.

Spine by Esoteric Software

The chibi animations seen ingame are rendered with the Spine framework by Esoteric Software in version 2.1.17. Spine is a bone based animation framework created 2013 via Kickstarter campaign.

The Girl's Frontline Wiki uses the framework with a paid license. You are not allowed to use the framework without a registered license. Please see the Spine homepage for further details and price listing.

Chibi animations on the Girl's Frontline Wiki are rendered with a JavaScript implementation of the framework rendered via pixi.js. Not all rendering issues can be fixed as there is no support for the old Spine version. An upgrade is not possible as newer Spine versions are not compatible to the game's assets.

Chibi animation panels usually provide a button to create a snapshot of the currently shown frame.

T-Doll animations

Chibi animations are rendered real time. They are no videos and no GIF files. As such it is not possible to download a GIF or WEBM file of the animations. Previous attempts to record the animation failed.

To make a screenshot of the animation, click on the camera icon. This will let you save the scene as a PNG file to your computer. Please note that the whole rendering area is saved and you will need to crop the image as needed.

Some Chibi animations have different animations depending on the place they are used (battle/dormitory). Use the dormitory icon (if available) to switch between the animations.

Heavy Ordnance Corps animations

Please see T-Doll animations.

HOC animations consist of four individual animations. One for the battle animation and one dormitory animation for each unit of the HOC team.

Enemy animations

Please see T-Doll animations.

Some enemies are too big in size. Because of this the animation had to be scaled down to fit the animation panel.

Fairy animations

Fairy animations consist of a floating drone and an still image of the fairy in chibi form. As the fairy itself does not have an animation no animation will be shown on the wiki. For the chibi images please see the "Gallery" section of the Fairy.

Live2D by Tetsuya Nakajo

Live2D animations are special animations simulating human behaviour (blinking, breathing,...) in addition to body movement for a more lifelike appearance. Girls' Frontline uses the old Live2D standard. Project: Neural Cloud uses the Cubism3 standard of Live2D.

The wiki tries to show the animation as close to the game as possible. Due to different technical limitations it is not possible to display the animations 1:1. Errors in displaying animations may occur and may not be possible to fix.

T-Doll Live2D animations

Some T-Doll costumes (both normal and damaged variant) have a Live2D animation. Live2D animations are shown on the "Live2D" tab on the T-Doll's page.

On the Live2D page of a T-Doll the first entry of the animation dropdown will be shown by default.

Live2D animations of T-Dolls follow the mouse cursor when it moves over the animation. Clicking the doll on various parts will trigger different animations. The parts which have a trigger vary between Live2D animations.

Background Live2D animations

Please see T-Doll Live2D animations.

Story sequences

Story sequences in the game are rendered entirely with Unity functions. Special effects and movements are defined via text files stored as assets. The Girl's Frontline Wiki can not reproduce animations. Story sequences will be shown as still images. The main focus is to provide the story.
