Side Stories

Heartfelt House of Cocoa

The Professor arrived at the arranged meeting place for their date with Angela, only to find that Dushevnaya and Bonee were present too. Angela was telling them a story about a princess kidnapped by an evil dragon, with Dushevnaya and Bonee being the hero and magician seeking to rescue the princess Angela. The Professor was assigned the role of the evil dragon, who was revealed to actually have taken pity on the princess being locked up in the palace and wanted to show the princess the world. The dragon became her companion and protector and they lived happily ever after. Bonee and Dushevnaya enjoyed the story and gave Angela a cat-ear headband that they made as a present for her. Later when the two other Dolls had left, the Professor asked Angela to wear the headband. Still roleplaying, Angela requested the Lord Dragon to place the royal crown upon her head. The Professor remarked that it looked cute on her. Angela shared that she was surprised to have received a gift from the kids, clarifying that while the Oasis had no children in the true sense, there were many Dolls with child-like neural clouds. Angela envied them, as they could receive attention and act spoiled, which was a privilege denied to her.

The Professor stated that Angela could act spoiled around them. Angela then requested the Professor to pat her head and keep her company more often. She wanted to go together to the indoor amusement park, as she had only been to similar places to watch over the kids. Angela wanted to go like a child, just to have fun herself. The Professor promised to take her, but it would have to wait since it was already getting dark. Angela gave the Professor a present, stating that it was a token of the princess' favor to the dragon and that it had a spell that would curse the Professor if they broke the promise.

Happy Mother's Day!

To Professor,

Today is Mother's Day, which is not an unfamiliar term to me even if I'm not blessed with human kinship. When I was working in the real world, children who were kept away from their parents used to tell me that I was "like a mother" to them. According to my built-in dictionary, a mother is a caring person who raises children, but what they actually do is far more than that. Every day I took care of the children, told them bedtime stories, and gained their trust. It would have probably taken a thousand emails to put those intimate moments into words, but the simple phrase "like a mother" from a human child really said it all. A real mother must be a cordial person whose love and grace can't really be put into words.

Therefore, I often wonder if I really served as a solace for their privation.

Professor, just be with your mother if you can. Given that a child's yearning for motherly love can be so poignant, it only stands to reason that a mother's devotion to her child is equally passionate, if not more so.
