RO635: Are you awake?

M4 SOPMOD II: How long was I out?
M4 SOPMOD II: How long has it been?

RO635: About… 2 hours?
RO635: Around…two hours?

M4 SOPMOD II: That long, huh… what are you doing?
M4 SOPMOD II: Has it been that long already? …What are you doing?

RO635: Wasn’t M16’s box fitted with a small transmitter?
RO635: A small transmitter was installed on M16’s case, right?
I was trying to boost its signal so the Commander would detect it. If we can make contact, we have a chance of getting away.
I’m trying to amplify its signal. The Commander must be looking for us, so if we can get in touch then we’ll have a chance at escape.

M4 SOPMOD II: Really? You can do that too?
M4 SOPMOD II: Really? You can do stuff like that?

RO635: Well, I can’t compete with you in terms of physical ability, but I’m still stronger than you in other areas.
RO635: Well, I certainly must be better than you in some respects if I’m weaker when it comes to stamina.
Hm, alright, now we just need to wait for it to charge up.
Alright, I guess we’ll need to wait some time for it to recharge.

M4 SOPMOD II: Does it still need to be charged?
M4 SOPMOD II: This needs recharging?

RO635: Well, broadcasting an effective signal takes a certain amount of power.
RO635: Transmitting a powerful signal does require a certain amount of energy.
I’ve been slowly transferring power to it from my backup power supply, so I can continue charging it without freezing up.
I’m slowly transferring energy from my backup battery so that I won’t collapse while charging it.

M4 SOPMOD II: That… that sounds really high-tech. Nobody in the AR Team’s done that before. This is a first.
M4 SOPMOD II: S-sounds very high tech. The AR Team has never done something like this before; this is probably the first time.

RO635: Haha, I feel honored.
RO635: Haha, then I’m honored to be the first.
Oh yes, this is a good time to tell me stories about the AR Team in the past. Besides, charging the transmitter is going to take some time.
Ah right, why don’t you tell me stories about the AR Team? We’re gonna have to wait a while anyway.

M4 SOPMOD II: Hm...
M4 SOPMOD II: Hmm...
Stories about the past, let me think...
Past stories huh? Let me think.
…
Ah, I thought of something!
I’ve got it!
I remember when the AR Team had our first exercise, and it was a complete disaster!
I remember the AR Team’s first exercise, that was a disaster!
...we spent a total of 5 hours on it.
...We spent a total of five hours.
2 hours of that was spent on M4A1 correcting her own orders.
M4A1 along wasted us two hours on correcting her orders.
During that time, we went into the wrong rooms, ended up soaking in cold water for about 20 minutes, shot the wrong target drones, and M4 even wrecked three clocks that startled her while they were reporting the time.
In those two hours, we entered the wrong rooms, spent 20 minutes wading through cold water, shot the wrong targets, and broke three clocks that happened to chime and startle M4.

RO635: Huh… I didn’t expect that. Even a normal doll team leader wouldn’t make so many mistakes.
RO635: Wow… That’s really out of my expectations. Even an average T-Doll team leader wouldn’t make so many mistakes in one exercise...

M4 SOPMOD II: It’s probably because she was a new model of command doll. You know, we thought we were in an elite team, but then we found out our team leader was unreliable.
M4 SOPMOD II: Probably because she was a new model of command-type T-Doll. You know, we thought we had joined an elite squad only to realize that the leader was such an unreliable person.
And AR15… she’s the sort who focuses on the outcome. In the end, she practically had “I hate you” written on her face.
And AR15 is…you know, the type to value results the most, and she had hatred written all over her face by the end of it.
M4 was terribly frightened back then, and she asked M16 what to do. After all, M16-nee was the only one who would talk to her.
M4 was so frightened, so she kept asking M16 what to do since M16 was the only one willing to talk to her.
M16 told M4 not to worry about AR15, otherwise she’d only make more mistakes and make more people mad.
M16 told M4 not to worry about AR15, because she would make even more mistakes and anger even more people if she dwelled on it.
M4 went quiet for a bit, and then she told M16 that it wouldn’t solve the problem.
M4 stayed silent for a while, then told M16 that she couldn’t do that because it wouldn’t solve the problem.
So she ran up to AR15 and apologized to her and said it wasn’t on purpose. In the end, AR15 glared at her and said, “You should have listened to M16” and walked off.
So she went over to AR15 to apologize and said it wasn’t on purpose. AR15 just glared at her and said, “You should’ve listened to M16” and walked away.
M4 was super scared, and she probably wanted to explain to M16 again, so she turned around but forgot that M16 was right behind her. So she practically ran into M16’s arms.
M4 was super frightened and probably wanted to return and explain to M16, so she immediately turned around. She forgot that M16 was right behind her and ended up crashing straight into M16.
And the worst part was, M4’s buttstock smacked into M16’s tummy!
And the worst part was that M4’s gun stock smacked into M16’s stomach!

RO635: That… must have hurt.
RO635: Ouch…that must’ve hurt.

M4 SOPMOD II: Oh yes, almost nobody saw M16 make that face before.
M4 SOPMOD II: Yeah, pretty sure no one had seen M16 make an expression like that before.
After that, M16 grit her teeth and said, “See, you made a bigger mistake. Now I’m mad too.”
Then, M16 gritted her teeth and said, “Look, now you’ve made an even bigger mistake of pissing me off.”

RO635: Haha, and did you complete that operation?
RO635: Haha, so did you guys manage to complete that exercise?

M4 SOPMOD II: Somehow, but right at the end… here’s the important part, you have to hear this!
M4 SOPMOD II: We barely made it. Just at the end...and this is the best part, you gotta listen to this!

RO635: What is it?
RO635: What?

M4 SOPMOD II: M4 did something shocking that made everyone cry!
M4 SOPMOD II: M4 did something so shocking that we all ended up in tears!

RO635: Everyone? Did she do something that moved everybody?
RO635: Everyone? Did she do something touching?

M4 SOPMOD II: Well, ah… she set off a tear gas grenade.
M4 SOPMOD II: Well…she messed up with the tear gas grenade.
We should have destroyed the last target, but M4 was too nervous…
We were about to destroy the final target, but M4 was so nervous…
She was the only one who messed up her actions. She was supposed to throw it while we were shooting, but she got the angle wrong, and so… it bounced back.
She made a mistake and tossed that thing out while we were all firing. What’s worse is that she miscalculated the angle, so...it bounced back at us.

RO635: Hey… that isn’t something a doll ought to get wrong.
RO635: Hey…that’s not really a mistake a Doll is capable of making.

M4 SOPMOD II: So we were all screwed and we had a good time crying in the tear gas.
M4 SOPMOD II: So we were all up the creek without a paddle. Everyone ended up crying their hearts out in the tear gas.
AR15 was crying as she went over to hit M4. As in, physically beat her up, you know?
AR15 was crying while trying to smack M4, you know? She was seriously trying to hit her...
But she couldn’t see anything, so she just stuck out her hand and shouted, “M4! You idiot!”
But she couldn’t see properly, so she stuck her arm out and yelled, “M4! You idiot!”
“You’re hopeless! Your brain is biological garbage, just like a lobster! I’m going to grab you by the collar and smack you a few times to physically detoxify your neural cloud! Just you wait! Just you wait till I grab you!”
“You’re hopeless! Your brain is biowaste just like a lobster! I’m going to grab you by the collar and smack that idiocy out of your neural cloud once I catch you! Once I catch you!”
And then M16 said, “Don’t be mad, AR15, at least we took out the target. Besides, M4 doesn’t wear anything with a collar, so all you can do is pull her hair like how human girls fight.”
Then M16 said, “Now, now, AR15. We got the target at least. Besides, M4’s shirt doesn’t even have a collar, so you’ll only be able to yank her hair like how human females fight.”

RO635: Haha, I saw that in my previous team several times, over a packet of rations or two cases of mineral water...
RO635: Haha, I’ve seen that happen several times in my old team over a bag of rations or some bottles of water...
Was M16 crying as well?
Was M16 crying too?

M4 SOPMOD II: Of course she was. That was pretty much the only time M16 cried so badly, thought I didn’t get a good look.
M4 SOPMOD II: Of course. This was probably the only time M16 ever cried so much, but I wasn’t able to see clearly.
I was crying myself, of course, but I was also laughing… yeah, don’t you think it was super funny?
That’s because I was crying too, but I was also laughing at the same time… Yeah, don’t you think it was super funny?
Everyone was so serious before the op started, but when they were crying and leaking snot and flailing around, I realised that they were just like me.
Everyone was so serious before the exercise. It was only when everyone was wailing and sniffling that I felt they were just like me.

RO635: Then what about M4? What did she do while she was crying?
RO635: Then what about M4? Did she do anything while she was crying?

M4 SOPMOD II: She didn’t do anything!
M4 SOPMOD II: She didn’t do anything at all!
But she was really crying, and she was crying really loudly, and she kept going, “It’s my fault! It’s my fault! I’m sorry!”
But she was the only one seriously crying, and the loudest one as well. She kept saying, “It’s my fault, it’s my fault! I’m sorry!”
I’ve only ever seen them in movies, but she looked just like a bullied kid. I can’t believe she could imitate it so well!
She was just like a bullied kid I once saw in a movie. I have no idea how she managed to emulate the look so perfectly!
Anyway it was super embarrassing, I couldn’t believe our leader was so useless! Hahaha, that was a disgrace. I really wish I could see it again, hahaha!
It was super embarrassing how our leader was so useless! And making fools out of the rest of us as well, hahaha! I would love to see it happen again!
Ha…
Hahaha…
Aw… Although… I don’t think that’s quite likely any more...
Ha...
......
Though...it’s probably impossible at this point...

RO635: SOP2…
RO635: SOP II…
You’ll have your chance. M16 must be waiting somewhere for us. And AR15… there’s a lot of things we haven’t verified about her, aren’t there?
It’s still possible. M16 must be waiting for us somewhere, and AR15… Well, many things are still unconfirmed, right?
As long as we stay alive, there’ll be something we can do in the future.
As long as we survive, there will surely be a way in the future.

M4 SOPMOD II: Mm… RO, why do you think we have emotion modules?
M4 SOPMOD II: Yeah… RO, why do you think we have emotion modules?

RO635: Well...
RO635: About that...

M4 SOPMOD II: I once asked M16, and he said that might be to prove that we’re not just killing machines.
M4 SOPMOD II: I once asked M16. She said maybe it is to prove that we aren’t simply killing machines.

We possess emotions, so we’re different from those cold, emotionless military Dolls...
We have emotions, so we’re not like those cold, unfeeling military dolls....
But some people also said that emotions are our weakness and a proof of our defectiveness…
But some people also say that emotions are our weaknesses, a sign that we’re flawed products…
What do you think? Does the fact that we possess emotions...mean that we are defective?
What do you think? Are dolls defective because we have emotions?

RO635: I don’t know...
RO635: I don’t know...
But the humans gave us emotion modules. Nobody would go out of their way to make their products inferior, right?
But emotion modules are something humans gave to us. No one would intentionally make their own products defective, right?
So… there must be a purpose behind all that.
So…there must be some meaning to all of this.

M4 SOPMOD II: For all we know, they might have done it for fun. They might not care about us.

RO635: Hehe, if they really don’t care about us, then we’re free, aren’t we?
Not having an aim means not having order, Makarov once told me in a previous night battle.

M4 SOPMOD II: Wow… that’s… a very interesting way of looking at it, RO.
M4 SOPMOD II: Maybe they just thought that it’d be funny to do so. Maybe they don’t really care about us.
At least, I don’t regret being fitted with an emotion module, because that’s why I remember AR15 and M16 and work so hard to get back together with them again.

RO635: That’s true...
RO635: Heh, if they really didn’t care about us, we’d be free.
But unfortunately… emotions won’t help us in our current situation. Right now, we have to live.
Without an objective, there would be no order. That’s what Makarov said to me after returning from a night mission one time.

RO635: We must… survive…
M4 SOPMOD II: Wow… RO, that’s…an interesting way of thinking.
At the very least, I don’t regret being equipped with an emotion module. It’s thanks to this module that I can keep AR15 and M16 close to my heart and work hard toward reuniting with them.

RO635: Yeah...
Unfortunately…emotions aren’t gonna help right now. What we need to do is survive.
We absolutely...have to survive.

M4 SOPMOD II: RO…?

RO635: Are you awake?

M4 SOPMOD II: How long has it been?

RO635: Around…two hours?

M4 SOPMOD II: Has it been that long already? …What are you doing?

RO635: A small transmitter was installed on M16’s case, right?
I’m trying to amplify its signal. The Commander must be looking for us, so if we can get in touch then we’ll have a chance at escape.

M4 SOPMOD II: Really? You can do stuff like that?

RO635: Well, I certainly must be better than you in some respects if I’m weaker when it comes to stamina.
Alright, I guess we’ll need to wait some time for it to recharge.

M4 SOPMOD II: This needs recharging?

RO635: Transmitting a powerful signal does require a certain amount of energy.
I’m slowly transferring energy from my backup battery so that I won’t collapse while charging it.

M4 SOPMOD II: S-sounds very high tech. The AR Team has never done something like this before; this is probably the first time.

RO635: Haha, then I’m honored to be the first.
Ah right, why don’t you tell me stories about the AR Team? We’re gonna have to wait a while anyway.

Ah, I thought of something!

It’s still possible. M16 must be waiting for us somewhere, and AR15… Well, many things are still unconfirmed, right?
