Weapon Background

The MG338 is a gas-operated lightweight machine gun developed by SIG Sauer. The design was first shown to the public in 2017, and takes inspiration from the General Dynamics LWMMG project from 2012.

The lightweight medium machine gun project dates back a number of years to a solicitation launched in May 2017 by a joint USMC & US SOCOM source. The general concept is for a squad automatic weapon that could bridge the gap between the 7.62 NATO M240 and the M2 Browning in .50BMG. Such a weapon could have almost the same range and even stopping power of the M2 with a platform that could still be mobile and man-portable.

The MG338 was designed to be such a weapon. To this end, the SIG MG338 is chambered for the .338 Norma Magnum round, a 300-grain belted magnum round that is reported to have recoil similar to a 7.62mm NATO cartridge yet be lethal to 1,700 meters or more. It has been reported that even at 1,000 meters the .338NM can defeat Level III body armor while also being capable of penetrating lightly armored vehicles. The weapon is belt-fed, and uses a short-stroke gas piston system. The MG338 makes use of SIG Sauer's proprietary recoil mitigation system, which helps to soften the recoil of the powerful .338NM cartridge. The gun is designed to be modular, with a free-floating quick-change barrel, ambidextrous controls, a switchable feed tray, and a charging handle that can be alternated to either side depending on operator preference. In addition, by having the feed tray and barrel be removable and swappable, the MG338 can be easily switched over to firing the 7.62mm ammo used in the Army's current machine gun. The MG338 was also designed to be incredibly lightweight for a belt-fed machine gun. In comparison to the current M240 machine gun, the MG338 is noticeably lighter at only 20 pounds. This also makes the MG338 a quarter of the weight of the M2 Browning.[1]

In January of 2020, SIG Sauer announced that the MG338 and its ammunition had undergone safety testing with USSOCOM, where it completed function, drop, stress, and various endurance and cook-off tests.[2] The machine gun is expected to enter field testing some time in late 2021/early 2022.

Character Background

She has a dual personality - in daily life she is polite and reserved, addressing everyone with formal language. After battle starts, she shifts to another persona, becoming a fiery unbound lord of war, though she never goes truly berserk. Her black eye functions the same as other Dolls, but the white eye can pick up faint shifts in human emotions, making it very handy for interrogations.
