[1810 hours, in a certain corner of Belgrade city's plaza.]

[......]

M4 SOPMOD II: RO, so when you said you were going to borrow the city’s strength, you actually meant… hacking into its cameras?
That sounds so ordinary…

RO635: Ordinary implies that it’s a classic.
Cities in the Green Zone have comparatively high security, and making use of the camera heads can greatly increase our search radius.
I had experience syncing up with similar systems when I did law enforcement work in the past. Granted, it wasn’t a city, but the systems were almost the same. I should be able to secretly get some information out of this with my new modules.

M4 SOPMOD II: That said… shouldn’t we find some cover? This plaza isn’t a good place for spying on people.

RO635: My scans tell me that this place has the most layer access points. I can’t hack in for too long and I need a stable signal, which is why we’re here.
After this, my mind is going to be stuck in Level Two while I scan through the footage of this week. I mustn’t let any details slip me by. I’ll leave the outside to you. Remember to keep a low profile and keep a distance from everyone here and for heaven’s sake don’t start any trouble, got that?

M4 SOPMOD II: Okay. We’re just two dolls sitting in a plaza, watching three electronic Persian cats fighting with a real Shiba Inu. It’s not like there’s any SF or those white guys around or anything, so I won’t cause trouble.
RO635: Hah… well, as long as you behave. I’m going to be really busy for the next part...
Who knows how my EW module is going to simulate this city’s information databases...

M4 SOPMOD II: Keep on sleepwalking, I’ll watch the surroundings for youー

[With that RO635 gives the activation command, and the EW module begins rendering a world around her.]

RO635: How much longer… is my mind going to fall...

[Her surroundings keep changing.]

RO635: Am I going to fall out of the other side of the world?
Ah… Alice, Alice, do you remember who you are?

[Thump!]
[RO’s consciousness suddenly lands on a solid surface.]

RO635: Good, that was a safe descent.
However… the upcoming work might not go too well.

???:  ??
Warning, warning.

[A garbled electronic entity raises its weapon and approaches.]

???: ??
This sector is sealed. Intruders are not welcome.

[Bang!]
[RO shoots the enemy in the core.]

RO635: Well, of course. Otherwise why would I be here?

[RO carefully observes her surroundings.]

RO635: These are enemies generated by the EW module after it read the local information… A standardized firewall system.
They really do look weird once they’re visualized. I’ll just substitute the images of previously-encountered enemies for them.
I need to think of a way to avoid them and get inside, or destroy them if need be, and then finish my scan ASAP.

[More electronic defender signals approach, and RO quickly spoofs her own signal.]

RO635: Alright… you can do this, RO.
This isn’t any different from the systems you interfaced with during law enforcement ops. It’s illegal, but it’s for the mission, for a righteous outcome…
I have to find that source, no matter where he’s hiding!
