Infected are hard to kill due to the layer of hard silicon formed over their skin. The Assault Artillery platform was originally designed to destroy ELIDs.
The world of Girls Frontline is build upon a world written in a fiction novel by the game's Producer Yuzhong. All the contents of this page are either based on "Girl's Frontline Griffin confidential file" written by the producer mention prior, or evident from part of the game itself. == Definition == == Causes and symptoms Symptoms==

Directly after being exposed to Collapse Fluid radiations, subjects start coughing blood, experience bodily pain and fatigue, and scorch marks appear on the skin. If they stay in a “Red Zone” radiations area, muscular damage and loss of certain body functions quickly follow, eventually leading to death from organ failure. “Yellow zone” levels of radiation are survivable for longer period of time, scorch marks will be lighter but organs damage, especially brain damage, will still occur with time, eventually leading to losing one's consciousness. When a subject dies to 'yellow zone' levels of radiation, they will eventually rise again as ELID infected since their motor system is still in working order, with their skins having hardened and joints stiffened due to siliconization.
After exposing to high concentration radiation from collapse reactionAdvanced ELID infection contracted by repeated exposure for short periods of time manifests physically as bluish-green skin, subject will experience immediate bodily pain extremely fast aging made evident by geriatric wrinkles and fatiguecrows' feet on the face, followed by loss of certain body functions due difficulty to pain breathe, muscular weakness and organs being affectedvery unstable vital signs. Being exposed to radiation will also scorch areas of subject's skin Body amino acids decompose, connective tissues break down throughout the body, red blood cell count falls rapidly along with blood oxygen carrying capacity and damage muscular structuresthe skeletal structure changes, continued exposure undergoing calcification and increasing the density and hardness of bones to 'red zone' level of radiation will lead numbers up to rapid organ failure then death from it400 HB, far beyond conventional steel'Yellow zone' level of radiation Onset period increases as the body is survivable by much longer period of time, but it repeatedly exposed to relics. Acute infection is still dangerousfatal within 61 hours. 'Yellow zone' level of radiation isn't strong enough Conversion to damage exterior skins infected can take 24 to the extend of scorching48 hours, but will continue necessitate the body to damage internal organs and most importantly begin be healthy enough to effect subject's brainsurvive DNA recombination.
Should the subject die ==ELID Infected==Standard ELID Infected are attracted to 'yellow zone' level radiation, they will eventually rise again as ELID mutantssound and moving objects not produced by other ELIDs. Since 'yellow zone' level radiation The source of their killing impulse is not strong enough unknown but they seem to damage motor systemsattack everything but themselves indiscriminately. Infected seem to retain a certain degree of subject's consciousness muscle memory, as demonstrated by infected soldiers actually firing their body will enter comatose and undergo some changes:*Siliconized lattice will form on the exterior skin, skins will be hardened and joints will become stiffrifles haphazardly.*
clrInfected staying in radiation zones for an extended periods of time will undergo more drastic physical changes, with D-Class infected being completely inhuman and monstrous in form, and extremely difficult to kill even for Assault Artillery platforms.
== ELID mutants History==ELID has been an ongoing problem during the exploration of sites, and spurred the development of the Weight Bearing protection system.jpg|thumb|right| In game icon early infection cases, before the 21st century, radiation sickness treatments were applied to no avail due to a lack of understanding of the mechanisms of ELID mutants. This posed considerable problems as relics research ramped up during the Cold War, left since infection vectors were unknown and no protection or treatment existed, leading to right: an estimated 150 000 ELID infections worldwide between the first documented case in 1976 and 1980, with about 10 000 infected. 50 000 new cases had appeared a year later, with a higher percentage of Infected civilianand new mutation forms. High variance in infection conditions and combat data rendered global studies useless. Countries started to create special units dedicated to manage ELID cases, Infected soldierlike the Chinese Special Circumstances Armed Police Force, Smasherbut infection rate of these agents was high. Note The Dresden Accords and détente between the collapse residue Soviet Union and hardened siliconized skinUnited Statespermitted Anti-ELID vaccine research to begin in 1983, gradually reducing the number of cases.
Zombie like mutants that are attracted By 2023, genetic augmentations were available to other moving objectsboost resistance against ELID. ELID vaccines were never particularly effective, but all research was lost during World War Three and the source of their killing impulse is unknown but they seem post-war world returned too quickly to attack everything but themselves indiscriminately. Infected mutants seem conflict with the First Antarctic War for ELID vaccines to retain certain degree of muscle memory, as demonstrated by infected soldiers actually firing their rifles (nowhere as accurate as their former self) at their preysbe rediscovered.
