| weaponinfo = The KS-23 is a Russian shotgun, although because it uses a rifled barrel it is officially designated by the Russian military as a carbine. KS stands for Karabin Spetsialniy, "Special Carbine". It is renowned for its large caliber, firing a 23 mm round, equating to 6.27 gauge using the British and American standards of shotgun gauges and approximately 4 gauge using the current European standards (based on the metric CIP tables), making it the largest-bore shotgun in use today.
| trivia =*The KS-23 is the shotgun with the largest bore size, but curiously it may not be the most powerful one. A 23mm buckshot is roughly equal to a 3.5inch 12gauge 00 buckshot. Apparently the designer chose such a big bore size due to the large variety of non-lethal rounds It can fire, not for maximum firepower.
*Another prototype of KS-23, KS-23K uses bullpup mechanism and later used by Russian MVD. Instead using tubular magazine that could only held 3 shells, KS-23K used detachable box magazine that held up to 7 shells while uses a same ammunition and same mechanism as the earlier version does.
