Episode numbering is indicated in the game's Index. By community convention, stories are designated by chapter and section separated by a hyphen (5-2). Emergency and Night missions are appended with E and N respectively (5-2E, 5-2N), while event missions are preceded with E (E2-1). Nonlinear parts are appended with a letter (E1-2A,  inspired by game files notation and [[The Art of Girls' Frontline Vol.2]]). Sections are further divided in before and after battle parts (and sometimes during battle), but this type of story presentation has been mostly abandoned in favor of dedicated story missions.
