Weapon Background

PP-19 Bizon (Bison) is a Russian lightweight selective fire submachine gun designed in 1993 by Izhmash. Design team was lead by Victor Kalashnikov, son of the famous Mikhail Kalashnikov, youngest son of Evgeny Dragunov, Alexei Dragunov was also part of the development team. Bizon's development was a request from Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), with the uprising conflicts around Dagestan and Chechen regions, the Federal Security Service (FSB) needed a weapon capable of fast and accurate firing at close quarter range for their counter terrorism campaign.

Straight blowback operated, Bizon have many variants designed to chamber 9x18mm Makarov, 9x19mm Parabellum, .380 ACP and the 7.62x25mm Tokarev, primary production variant is chambered for 9x18mm Makarov though. The wide range of calibre boosted the product's commercial appear and demonstrated the weapon's versatility. Bizon as a SMG had undergone continuous modifications during it's production life, original Bizon was retroactively designated Bizon-1, the production variant is dubbed as Bizon-2. Bizon is able to achieve various rate of fire with different cartridges all in between 650 to 700 rounds per minute.

Bizon is fed with an unique large capacity bottom mount helical magazine, which is often mistaken as a grenade launcher due to it's tubular appearance, the magazine's build material is glass reinforced polyamide. It attaches itself on a hinge right beneath the muzzle, and locked in place with a Kalashnikov pattern spring-loaded paddle type magazine catch/release in front of the trigger guard. Magazine capacity differs with calibre, range from 64 rounds of 9x18mm Makarov or 53 rounds of 9x19mm Parabellum.

Bizon has approximately 60% parts compatibility with the AKS-74, the shoulder stock of AKS-74 is compatible with Bizon, but instead of right side folding it folds to the left. Bizon also make use of AKS-74's trigger and safety mechanism, fire mode selector leaver allows Bizon to fire as semi-automatic or fully automatic. For iron sights, Bizon make use of the AKS-74U's sights, side optics mount is available should the user make use of Russian issue optics such as Kobra, sound suppressor accessory is also available for Bizon operators.

With it's superior performance, Bizon prototype passed the trials set by the Special Equipment Research Institute in 1995 and outperformed many competitors, the weapon was accepted into service in 1996. Bizon is no longer in production right now however, the production line is now focused on producing Bizon's modernized derivative and successor product, the PP-19-01 Vityaz-SN.[1]

Character Design

A shorter SMG T-doll with slim body build, Bizon can be identified by her blue eyes and short white hair. Her outfit itself is likely designed with reference to the FSB service uniform.

Trivia

  • The magazine is actually able to hold 67 rounds of 9x18mm Makarov, but it was reduced to 64 because Makarov cartridge comes in boxes of 16.
  • PP-19 shares the same headset that AR M16A1 M16A1      and SMG SCW SCW      wear, which is the MSA Sordin Supreme.
