During a collaboration between the US Army Delta Force R&D department with the German fire arm company H&K, an European distant relative of the AR-15 platform of assault rifles was born. The new carbine project was originally named HK M4, later on changed to HK416 after law suit filed by Colt Defense regarding trademark infringement.
Primarily chambered with the 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge, HK416 is a short-stroke gas piston operated, rotating bolt, selective fire carbine. Feeding on standard issue NATO STANAG magazines HK416 is able achieve a rate of fire of 700-900 rounds per minute, default iron sight provides an effective firing range of 300 metres.
416 features Picatinny rail placements all over the gun, top of the receiver, top/side/bottom of the barrel forearm. Compatible with and able to attach all forms of combat accessories of NATO member states, the rail forearm does not come in contact with the barrel, the barrel is "free-floating" in effort to improve accuracy. Bottom rails can mount accessories such as a fore-grip or a 40mm grenade launcher (Usually the AG36/M320 style), while the side rails for tactical lights/laser and/or other combat accessories. The weapon also features a folding front Iron sight paired with a rear sight similar to that of a G3, the operator can make use of it should they not wish to mount optics.
The HK416 may be visually similar to that of a AR-15 rifle, it features several technology innovations of H&K, their HK50, XM8 and L85A2 projects has provided valuable experience in the development of HK416. Different from the other AR-15 derivatives with the direct impingement mechanism, HK416 uses the proprietary short-stroke piston mechanism developed by H&K, which was derived from G36. Other minor features includes newly designed adjustable telescopic butt stock and pistol grip to improve user comfort.
Military/policing units all over the world are adapting the HK416 (Variants or derivatives) into their arsenal due to it's undeniable reliability, performance and modularity. Starting with the Norwegian army (HK416N), United States special operation groups such as Delta Force and DEVGRU SEALs has also followed the foot step and replaced their M4A1 out of service with the HK416, French army is also planning on gradually replacing their FAMAS F1 with the HK416F.
There is a "blood tear" tattoo under HK416's left eye. It is based on the HK's defeated in a lawsuit against Colt about the copyright infringement of the name of "HK M4". This incident is also built up HK416's hatred and sour rivalry against the AR squad.
Personality
HK 416 holds a deep disgust against the members of the AR squad (especially against AR M16A1M16A1M16A1) despite being a AR-15 derivative.
As one of the furniture stated of "Don't give Alcohol to HK-416" might stated that she has a poor tolerance to them aka "gets drunk easily".
Variant of HK416 chambered to fire the 7.62x51mm NATO is called HK417, Bundeswehr enlisted the DMR variant of HK417 to service under the designation G28, hence HK416 and RF G28G28G28 are described as sisters by the player base. Some of G28's quotations even mentions her big sister 416.
In-Game
HK416 have the anti-personal grenade launching skill with the highest damage multiplier among all grenadier ARs, combined with her relatively high default damage stat, her grenade skill have the most devastating grenade hit in the game. She also provides the highest damage tile buff to SMGs in the game, HK416 is often seen put behind SMG VectorVectorVector, SMG PP-19PP-19PP-19 or SMG SR-3MPSR-3MPSR-3MP to maximize the SMG damage output as well as receiving their buffs.
During Singularity 416 received her exclusive equipment, the XPS3 holographic optic. This peculiar optic can gives the same damage and accuracy stats as a max leveled gold Holographic sight, however it also gives 25% added critical hit rate while not having a rate of fire penalty. As an unit with a grenade skill, it is advised to have the holographic type optic equipped since it adds damage attribute, this equipment is a fine addition to the T-doll and improves her combat efficiency by a fair margin, should the player upgrade it to max level.
Reported by some players as the most common 5* rating unit in the game as they received an overwhelming level of HK416 from their constructions.
Story Involvement
HK416 is a member of the Task force 404, along with SMG UMP45UMP45UMP45, SMG UMP9UMP9UMP9, and AR G11G11G11. She have major involvements in both the main, side story line and various events.

Butterfly Event
Liberation of Sector S09
As contract requested, HK416 made her first story appearance when Task force 404 assisted the liberation of Sector S09 from Sangvis Ferri.
Special Delivery to Sector S09
SMG MP5MP5MP5 was tasked with resupply and Intel collection mission in Sector S09, HK416 made an minor appearance with G11 during this small covert operation.
Arctic Warfare
Taking up another contract, Task force 404 was sent to aid AR squadron from the event of Arctic Warfare.
Deep Dive
A later contract would require Task force 404 to dive deep into Ferri controlled territory sector S15 and recover an UAV, but it wasn't as straight forward as it sounds. Deep Dive is an immediate follow up to chapter 8's story, where the UAV containing sensitive Intel was shot down by Dreamer after M16 launched it, the UAV itself crash landed inside Dreamer's control territory.
Deep Dive began with Task force 404 woken up in a basement of a coffee shop. HK416 expressed her frustrations regarding waking up in a messy basement all the time, which immediately backfired, G11 replied with "You always have something to complain about", 45 replied with "You missed the big and clean maintenance room of G&K?". The new contract would require all members of Task force 404 to fit a software for electronic infiltration purposes, 404 was asked to lie down on the maintenance desk again right after their usual maintenance routine to fit the new modules. The newly fitted module would require immediate testing, a combat simulation was set up for them right away to infiltrate a nearby Ferri network, G11 and 416 never took part in electronic attacks before, this would be their very first time entering the Atlas space.
Several tests runs later, the rest of 404 are beginning to notice 45's condition being sub-optimal, she is clearly agitated by something but she does not wish to share with the rest of the team. 416 spoke out for the team, she states that the rest of 404 is worried about 45's condition, with her being the team leader, anything happens to her would drastically effect 404's performance.
Suddenly a signal entered the network uninvited, though it's just a clumsy T-doll of G&K goes by the name SMG KLINKLINKLIN, she logged in from the wrong terminal and trapped her Cloud Atlas in the wrong section of the server. Despite KLIN being unable to discover 404 from that terminal, afraid of the missing T-doll signal being suspicious 45 ordered the team to rescue her in the Atlas space as a training exercise. With KLIN rescue and woke up again at the G&K HQ, 404 disconnected from the network. 45 states that they are use to this module now and the retrieval operation will begin in 12 hours, she informed the team to get some rest.
Singularity
404's latest contract, at the request of Angelica, they are to assist the newly formed Defiance squadron in their operations against SOCOM units.
HK416, original name was HKM4 when the exhibition took place, then it was taken away from... Why me? (Heh) Reason is obvious enough. After that I gained a new name and underwent severe modifications, caused a lot of controversy during that era. Commander I will make you forget about all of them, Only me, all you need is me.
