Nemhran can use four skills:

  • Orb of Light: Summons an orb of light besides self. After every five summons, all remaining orbs of light damage and silence random enemies.
  • Scale Powder: Creates a disruption zone ahead of self. Enemies within its area cannot use skills and their accuracy is decreased.
  • Butterfly Dance: Generates a large disruption zone and then flies backward. Enemies within its area cannot use skills.
  • Peerless Domain: Flies into the sky and summons many energy balls, then continuously fires them at random enemies, damaging them.

Nemhran's original name is Hanna von Oberstein, the mother of Lunasia and William and Rudolf von Oberstein's wife. She clearly favored her daughter over her son.[1] During the latter half of World War Three, she suffered from mental issues and a faith crisis, and the family fragmented after its transfer to Heidelberg by the US Army in 2049.[2] Hanna took her children to join Evangel Portal, a cult based in the Rhine region, where she was appointed a the Holy Mother and Lunasia as the Holy Maiden.[3][4] The same year,[3] Hanna was reportedly killed during the First Purge, the German government's crackdown on Yellow Zone violence.[4] The reports are contradicted by Lunasia's own memories: according to her, her mother actually died from ritual suicide, cutting her throat along with many other cultists to reach the Promised Land.[5]

The ritual was arranged by Lunasia herself, who had grown extremely hateful of humanity and used her influence to contact Martha Meitner, ordering her to turn her into a "miracle" that would destroy mankind, using the cultists for her experiments. Lunasia specified that her mother be the first sacrifice, and asked her brother to turn her corpse into one of Meitner's Nytos.[6] Using Hanna's pseudonym in Evagel Portal, the Nyto was named Nemhran.[5] She still used her identity as Hanna on occasions when William recreated scenes from his past life, which caused her temporary memory loss.[7]

At Paradeus, Nemhran was considered an outcast, a fact she was keenly aware of. She was the only abnormality tolerated but exiled to Moscow by “Father”, yet was given the core position of supervising the Bee Sting System. According to other high-ranking Nytos, she was an anomaly due to having emotions, but no desires. As ruthless as any high-grade Nyto, she frequently killed her disposable Nyto White assistants for displeasing her with minor blunders.[8] Nemhran had a fondness for the proto-Nyto Sana, sneaking various objects of interest to her, such as plant specimens, past the security of Avernus.[9][10] The two grew close due to their similar natures as "replacements", Sana being a replacement for Meitner's daughter, and Nemhran a replacement for William's mother.[11]

It's possible that Nemhran's deployment in Moscow was never an exile, but rather a necessity for the “Expedition”, a mission to uncover Promethean influence in the Neo-Soviet Union.[12] To take advantage of Nemhran's position as the main Paradeus asset in Moscow, “Evangelist”, a supervisor of Paradeus' assets in the German Stasi, designated Nemhran to act as the liaison between the secret agent “Polar Bear” and the Stasi, nominally making Nemhran a Stasi collaborator.[8][13] She supervised the recruitment of top scientists into Galatea Corporation so that Paradeus would profit from their research, and attempted to take actions against Gray Blackwell for opposing them, but Meitner forbade her from acting against her former pupil.[14] In 2062, Nemhran reluctantly approved to give Maggie access to Bee Sting after she was vetted by Gray. Though they couldn't entirely scan Maggie's Neural Cloud, Gray argued that only an agent capable of circumventing Bee Sting could be trusted with it.[15] Nemhran being away in Moscow caused issues for the original version of Project Cocoon, as she couldn't prevent Morridow from sabotaging it in her personal quest for perfection.[16]

During Project Cocoon in Berlin, Nemhran took control of the operation, exchanging with Morridow temporary authority in Germany in exchange for information on Machlian's, whom Morridow was obsessed with eliminating. Carefully curating information delivered to the Commander, she steered them away from the main production lines of Iaso's Boxes in Berlin.[8] Q has suggested that Nemhran was the one who revealed Polar Bear to the Soviet, around the same time the Stasi got rid of “Evangelist”.[13] Nemhran's betrayal may have been caused by the completion of the “Expedition”.[12] At the same time, Nemhran left Moscow[17] and returned to Avernus.[7] M16A1 tracked her down on behalf of Statesec, but failed to eliminate her.[18][7] She authorized MG RPK-16RPK-16RPK-16 to be brought to Avernus,[19] a critical mistake as RPK was a Promethean sleeper agent.[20] She made another mistake while supervising Tareus's mission to disrupt Operation Eclipse, accepting Tareus' report about successfully intercepting the delivery of “Grand Duke”[21] when it was in fact successfully delivered,[22] enabling the Commander to maintain communications while battling in the Dead Sea.[23]

At the start of the Battle of the Dead Sea, Nemhran initially took little action to prevent Operation Aeneas members from entering the Dead Sea, only raising security when they actually reached Avernus, ordering to only leave one intruder alive for interrogation.[24][25] She however failed to detect Team Wolf Pack until they actively engaged Gray and Bramedb in the main building. Nemhran personally battled with Team Nitrogen,[26] preventing them from reinforcing other teams[27][28] and eventually utterly destroying them.[14] As the assault continued, Nemhran authorized the expedited activation of Sana,[29][30] and started purging all data and materials in preparation for abandoning Avernus.[9] Nemhran and Sana were the last two high-ranking Nytos to defend the roof of Avernus. However, Nemhran was unaware that Sana couldn't actually evacuate due to being the only Nyto requiring a connection to the Evangel Axis to function. Both jumped on their evacuation aircraft, but Sana promptly jumped off after it took off so that Nemhran wouldn't try to follow her. Nemhran caught her before she could fall, and Sana called her “mama” for the last time before falling back to Avernus.[11]

After reaching Frankfurt, Nemhran reported the results of the “Expedition” to Laplace, revealing the existence and responsibility of the Promethean agency Clarion in the campaign against Paradeus.[12] “Father” then gave her the lead of Operation Cocoon in Germany, overruling Morridow and Hebe's respective authority over the Berlin and Frankfurt theaters. Nemhran declared Berlin a lost cause and ordered all Paradeus assets in Berin, Bremen and Moscow to regroup in Frankfurt in order to expedite the production of Iaso's Boxes and complete Project Cocoon as fast as possible.[12] This caused Paradeus' factories to be detected more easily due to their increased consumption of resources.[31] Even after all connection to the Lake of Cognition was cut by SMG ErmaErmaErma and Embla sabotaged “All Hallows' Eve”, Nemhran insisted to continue as planned.[32][31]

When Task Force DEFY moved to counter Embla's “All Hallows' Eve” plan, AK-12 planned to take on Nemhran herself,[33] but they only fought later during DEFY's raid on Paradeus' factories.[34] Nemhran also indirectly clashed with Squad 404, falling into their trap when her attention was distracted by the sudden appearance of a copy of Arthur Hume's fundamental research,[35] which turned out to be a fake designed to facilitate 404's infiltration of Bee Sting. Nemhran personally confronted 404 in virtual space until they escaped. Hebe planted a virus made from an unused Cocoon in AR HK416HK416HK416,[36] but Nemhran warned her not to take unauthorized action because her “play in the game” was “not necessarily to win”.[37] With Project Cocoon estimated to be started soon, Nemhran contacted Rudolf to announce that “Coronation Storm” would soon occur. At the same time, William prepared his own moves against Rudolf and Nemhran with Morridow and Bramedb.[38] Nemhran started suspecting the presence of traitors as their forces kept being efficiently whittled down by the Commander.[39]
