Trivia
- Prior to the success of the StG44 on the Eastern Front, the weapon was designated as a machine pistol (SMG). As such, 7.92 Kurz was originally designated as Pistolenpatrone M43 (Pistol Cartridge 1943) due to political reasons with the Nazi party, despite it not really being a pistol caliber. After the recognition of the merits of the StG44 as an infantry rifle, the ammo was redesignated as Kurzpatrone 43 (Short Cartridge 1943).
