*Prior to the success of the StG44 on the Eastern Front, the weapon was designated as a machine pistol (SMG) due to political reasons with the Nazi party. As such, 7.92 Kurz was originally designated as Pistolenpatrone M43 (Pistol Cartridge 1943) despite it not really being a pistol caliber. After the recognition of the merits of the StG44 as an infantry rifle, the ammo was redesignated as Kurzpatrone 43 (Short Cartridge 1943).
*Today, Prvi Partizan is the only ammunition manufacturer which still produces 7.92 Kurz.
