The Villar Perosa Model of 1915, or VP M1915, was an Italian portable automatic firearm developed during World War I. As it was designed to use 9mm pistol ammunition, it is said to be the first true submachine gun.[1]

The Villar Perosa was designed as a portable double-barrel machine gun firing a 9mm round. It consisted of two independent coupled weapons, each with its own barrel, firing mechanism, and separate 25-round magazine. It was intended to be used by the second crew member/observer onboard military airplanes. Because it was intended to be operated from an airplane, it had a high rate of fire of over 1,500 rounds per minute. However, in practice the 9mm round was not sufficiently powerful to shoot down enemy aircraft, which had become ever more resistant over the course of the war. In addition, the pistol caliber cartridge did not possess the range needed to function in an anti-aircraft capacity.

Despite not being an adequate weapon for its intended combat role as an aircraft gunner's weapon, this wasn't the end for the VP1915, as it would begin to be issued to Italian ground troops. Between May and November of 1916, one VP1915 would be deployed to each infantry battalion of the Italian army, and from May 1917 to the end of the war this would be increased to 3 per battalion. With its high rate of fire and 50 round total capacity, it proved to be very effective at short ranges.

Character Background

A calm and intellectual Doll, she's gifted at chess-like games and possesses a wealth of combat experience and knowledge on tactical theory, which means she is often tapped to mentor other Dolls. While she's strict and cold on the job, often barking fierce warnings, the fact that said warnings are usually impractical and that she is surprisingly adept at judging the feelings of others has instead made her very popular.
