Weapon BackgroundEdit
QBZ-03 is a recently designed Chinese selective fire assault rifle released in 2003, designed to be compatible with the Chinese 5.8x42mm intermediate rifle cartridge, this rifle is often addressed as Type 03 reflecting the year that it entered service. Type 03 is not a new standard service rifle to replace the Type 95, but various detachments of People's Liberation Army are starting to equip Type 03, such as the People's Armed Police, marines and air force Paratroopers.
While the standard service rifle Type 95 has a bullpup design, Type 03 is a conventional layout rifle, utilizes the short-stroke gas-piston rotating bolt operating mechanism derived from the previous Chinese made Type 81 assault rifle. Type 03 boasts a higher cyclic rate of fire than Type 95, around 700-750 rounds per minute, effective firing range is around 400-500 metres, aiming relies on the fixed Type 56 style front sight coupled with a flip-up diopter rear sight, other than iron sights, a scope rail is available for mounting optics. The rifle itself is fed with Type 95's 30-round capacity 5.8mm magazine and it is likely compatible with the 75-round capacity drum magazine.
Type 03's conventional layout provides a familiar operation feel for soldiers who were used to the old Type 81 rifles, being a conventional layout design, Type 03 is longer than Type 95, measuring 950mm in length with the stock unfolded. Rifle build material is industrial grade polymer and aluminum alloy, Type 03 weights 3.5kg unloaded.
On top of being a stand alone rifle, Type 03 can also be fitted with a 20mm air-burst grenade launcher, forming the QTS-11 (Type 11) individual integrated combat system, the third air-burst grenade integrated rifle in the world following the United States XM29 OICW and the South Korean K11.
Other than QTS-11, Type 03 also has an upgraded variant featuring Picatinny rail placements, a carbine variant with shorter barrel, and a 5.56x45mm calibre export variant with compatibility with STANAG magazines named T03.[1]
Character Design
Type 03 appears to be a tall and slim built lady, measures around 155-160cm of body height when using her rifle as a comparison. Her outfit is a Cheongsam, a traditional Chinese dress for women originated in Shanghai, a blue Chinese knotting ornament can also be found on her outfit, another traditional decoration symbolizes the bonding between people.
She carries the standard issue Type 03 rifle evident from the lack of Picatinny rails, the 5.8mm magazine and the barrel/arm-guard length.
Character Background
Official character sheet comments that Type 03 is an active learner, has strong faith in the Commander, she would note down various speeches from the Commander and treat them as golden quotes, and studies them repetitively. She has a friendly relationship with Type 95, but she hates being compared to Type 95, she believes that both her and Type 95 are irreplaceable entities of each other.
