Weapon Background

K11 is the designation for a multi-weapon in service with the Armed Forces of Republic of Korea, the concept is very similar to the US XM29 Objective Individual Combat Weapon project, combining a 5.56x45mm calibre rifle and an air-burst launcher into a singular unit. Designed in between 2000 to 2008 by various companies, manufactured by S&T Motiv, the rifle itself undergone an overhaul in 2017, improved physical weight and grenade performance.

The weapon consist of two parts, the bottom module is a 5.56mm calibre assault rifle, the top module is a bullpup configured 20x30mm calibre grenade launcher chambered for both air-burst "smart" grenades and conventional grenades. The grenade launcher module uses the rifle's trigger group to fire, it is unlikely it can function as a stand-alone weapon, while the rifle itself can potentially operate on its own. Fully assembled weapon measures 860mm in length and weights 6.1kg empty.

Rifle section effectively functions as the weapon's receiver group, the action relies on gas-operated, rotating bolt. Able to achieve 700 rounds per minute of cyclic rate of fire while compatible with 5.56mm STANAG magazines of various capacity. Effective cover range is up to 300 metres while using a 310mm long barrel. A Fire selector is located on left side of the receiver which toggles between 3-round burst, semi automatic firing and safe position. The fourth position allows the fire selector to toggle grenade launching function, which also meant the rifle and launcher cannot fire at the same time.

Grenade launcher module itself is more complex due to the integrated fuse setter for the use of smart grenades. A large module consist of laser range finder and ballistic computer is situated on top of the multi-weapon, it assists in finding range to the target, with the processed data the weapon itself can set fuse for the smart grenades to detonate mid-air near the enemies' position. Grenade launcher is fed with a 5-round capacity magazine, reloading relies on bolt action by the operator.

K11 achieved satisfying results in both the weapon weight and grenade combat performances, despite the defects found, K11 is still the first air-burst rifle that entered military service and took part in the conflicts in Afghanistan. ROK Army issued two K11's per squadron, but they are supplementary weapon and the primary grenadiers remains to be K201 underslung grenade launcher from the K2 riflemen.

Character Design

By observation, K11 measures around 160cm in body height when compared to the rifle. The overcoat she wears (or rather, poorly wears) appears to carry most of her gadget for combat and hobbies, identified items strapped on her coat includes name tag, 5.56 STANAG magazines, 20x30mm grenade magazine, spare 20x30mm grenades (blue coated HEAB rounds) and a electric multimeter.
