Weapon Background
The Howa Type 89 Assault Rifle (89式小銃 hachi-kyū-shiki-shōjū) is a gas-operated assault rifle used by the Japan Self-Defense Forces, the Japan Coast Guard's Special Security Team units, and the Special Assault Team. It is the current standard issue rifle of the JSDF, and was introduced to replace the Howa Type 64 battle rifle. It is chambered for the 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge.
In 1989 the Japanese Defense Agency (later renamed to the Ministry of Defense) began developing a replacement for its Type 64 battle rifle, which had been in service with the JSDF for around 25 years at that point. This new rifle would chamber the 5.56x45mm NATO intermediate cartridge, instead of the larger 7.62x51mm round used in the Type 64. The 5.56 cartridge had far less recoil that its larger counterpart, and weighed less. This allowed for more control of the weapon during automatic fire. This change from the Type 64 to the Type 89 was similar to that made by the US military during the early years of the Vietnam War, when it replaced the M14 battle rifle currently in service with the M16. Development of this new rifle was to be handled by Howa. At the time, Howa was able to produce AR-180 rifles under license, and these were tested as part of the development process of the Type 89.
The Type 89 featured a number of improvements over the Type 64. As opposed to the wood and steel used for the Type 64, the Type 89 was constructed using polymer and aluminum, which helped to cut down on weight. The Type 89 also features vastly simplified internals and fewer parts that the Type 64, which makes disassembly and cleaning much easier. As a result of using fewer parts, the Type 89 was also significantly cheaper than its predecessor.
The only variant of the Type 89 that is serving in the field is the Type 89-F rifle, which uses a folding stock unlike the original Type 89 which sported a solid stock. The former has been referred to as the Type 89 Para, and was issued to airborne soldiers, tankers, recon soldiers, and armored infantry soldiers. The folding stock folds to the left side, so as not to cover the selector lever on the right side. The stock is locked weakly when folded, making it difficult to carry by sling when in the folded position.[1]
On December 6, 2019, the Japanese Ministry of Defense announced that plans were started to eventually replace the Type 89 with a new 5.56x45mm infantry rifle.

- Originally released on December 30th 2019 on the JP servers, this makes AR Howa Type 89
Howa Type 89 
the 2nd JP exclusive T-doll to be released in a server before the original CN servers. Like other Server exclusive T-dolls, she may eventually be implemented into the remaining servers at an undetermined date. - During the 2020 January 25 ~ 26th basic construction rate-up event on the CN servers, AR Howa Type 89Howa Type 89 was mistakenly added to the construction pool during this rate up, however she lacked all forms of text and dialogue as well as not having any skill description. Making her effectively useless despite being temporarily obtainable, compensation mail was given out to players and those who managed to obtain her during said rate up were allowed to keep her. She was eventually added into the construction pool following the February 6th maintenance.
