Trivia
- The actual name of the sight itself is the 'SWORD' Multi-Weapon Sight. Developed by SAFRAN Sagem, it features an adjustable day/night 4x optical sight, an uncooled thermal imager with video sequence capture capability, and a laser rangefinder all combined into one sighting device. As a part of the FELIN combat system, modified FAMAS rifles compatible with the SWORD sight featured a control button, which let them cycle through the various sight functions. This was used to maximize the potential and usability of the FELIN system. An operator doesn't require the FELIN combat suit or other related equipment to use the 'SWORD' Multi-Weapon sight, and some FAMAS variants excluded the controllable second grip (this variant was known as the FAMAS 'Valorisé' or "upgraded").
- Despite its large size, the weight of the scope is only around 1.2 lbs or 0.544 kg, which is lighter than a Vietnam-Era AN/PVS-2 Small Starlight Night Vision Scope.
- The SWORD Multi-Weapon Sight is capable of being attached to other assault/sniper rifles, or even to machine guns with a mounting rail on them, and is not limited to the FAMAS Valorisé only.
