Weapon BackgroundEdit

The Saab Bofors Dynamics CBJ-MS, also called the C-MS, is a personal defense weapon/submachine gun designed by Swedish weapon developer CBJ Tech AB, and manufactured by both CBJ and Saab Bofors Dynamics. It can be chambered for both 6.5×25mm CBJ and 9×19mm Parabellum cartridges via simple barrel changes.

CBJ Tech AB and Saab Bofors Dynamics presented the design in 2000. It is an unusual weapon in several respects, not the least because it is meant to fulfill the roles of several different weapon types. This is achieved through the weapon being modular and highly adaptable, with parts able to be switched out according to the situation.

The C-MS sports a visual appearance similar to the Israeli Uzi and Ingram Mac-10, but the weapon has several interesting features that help distinguish it from the rest of the SMG/PDW crowd. The gun features a top-mounted Picatinny rail for attaching optics, a progressive trigger for semiautomatic and fully automatic fire, a collapsing wire stock, a grip safety, a threaded barrel, and a hollow foregrip which can be used to hold a spare magazine. But perhaps the biggest unique feature of the C-MS is its ability to be easily rechambered for different ammunition types. By default, the weapon is chambered for the proprietary 6.5x25mm CBJ cartridge, but can be converted to fire 9mm Parabellum by simply changing the barrel.

The 6.5mm CBJ is a light weight, hyper-sonic cartridge designed to be a universal cartridge for use against both hard and soft targets. It features similar dimensions and recoil levels as 9mm Parabellum. The projectile used by the 6.5×25mm CBJ can be a normal ball bullet, but can also be a 4 mm tungsten kinetic penetrator held inside a non-disintegrating plastic sabot, fired at a high muzzle velocity of 815 m/s (2,670 ft/s). Developers claim that it is able to defeat both current and future body armors, and even go as far as boasting it can penetrate lightly armored vehicles and APCs.[1]

The C-MS is a relatively small and lightweight weapon, measuring 363mm in length with the stock folded. As a compact weapon, the C-MS relies on simple blowback operation, which also helps make the weapon mechanically simpler. The rate of fire for is set to around 700 rounds per minute, feeding from either 20 round or 30 round magazines. When fitted with a specially-designed proprietary bipod and a 100-round drum magazine, the C-MS can also function as a light support weapon.

The CBJ-MS is advertised as a compact and lightweight PDW, and is currently on the lookout for potential clients. With its armor-piercing capabilities and simple construction, it would be a suitable weapon for non-frontline military personnel such as vehicle crews, pilots, medical units, and as a sidearm for machine gunners/field officers. When refitted for 9mm Parabellum, it would be a decent choice for law enforcement units.[2][3]

Character Design

C-MS measures 152cm in height, a number taken from the artist's reference sheet. Definitely not an ordinary T-doll by design, artist Xiao Chi commented on the design inspiration of C-MS on this character sheet. According to her, the overall appearance of C-MS is based on a particular vagabond known only as 'Brother Sharp', who became a popular an internet topic of interest in the 2010s. The vagrant's identity was not revealed by local authorities out of consideration and personal respect.[4] Various features of C-MS's design reflects this:

  • An oversized and loose-fitting coat, the colors worn off to reflect its age and/or the harsh environments it has endured.
  • Messy black hair so greasy that it has a somewhat blue shine over it.
  • A pair of large shoes, ill-fitting for a small girl.

These features give C-MS a rag-tag, almost nomadic overall appearance. In regards to why this theme was chosen, Xiao Chi simply replied that if no one else had thought of going with this style for a character, that she'd be the first.

Other features shown on the character sheet include:

  • A pair of goose yellow boxers, which are comfy to wear and do not easily expose the contents.
  • The zipper head marked with 'X C', the artist's initials.
  • An additional large bag, inside of which are a lot of spare parts and different types of munitions.

Character Background

Being in her presence will probably cause you to doubt who's the real commander. She willfully gives orders to those around her as if they are her subordinates, using her unruly manner to fulfill all kinds of capricious wishes. However, don't worry. She's always fair towards her obedient followers. Perhaps, in exchange for a trivial errand of buying her snacks, she might just bring about the victory you so desire. [5]

Trivia

  • Her skill itself may be a reference to the different 6.5mm CBJ cartridge types available:
    • The CBJ 6.5x25mm Subsonic AP cartridge as the 'subsonic' setting (or it could be the 9mm Parabellum)
    • The CBJ 6.5x25mm Spoon Tip cartridge as the 'Spoon Tip' setting
    • The CBJ 6.5x25mm standard cartridge as the 'Standard' setting
  • The character sprite animation set has a reloading animation. This was probably intended to play when C-MS loads a different type of munition. However, the skill switches ammo types instantly and the animation does not play in-game.
  • The title of SMG C-MS C-MS     's "The Wonderful Adventures of Swan" outfit is possibly a reference to "The Wonderful Adventures of Nils", a 1907 piece of Swedish literature revolving around a boy who, after being shrunken by a local spirit, journeys across Sweden with a wild geese. The book was adapted into an anime in 1980.
  • Her "Advance of the Flying Fish" poster is hanging on a wall in episode 6 of the 2022 anime adaptation.
  • C-MS is listed in the pre-release Griffin transfer file from Project Neural Cloud under the name Clara, Doll model WARO. She is not currently in the game.
