Weapon Background
The original Steyr AUG Para is a reversible conversion of the original Steyr AUG assault rifle, intended mostly for short-range police and special operations work. This weapons combines relatively compact dimensions with very good accuracy (compared with other 9 mm submachine guns), thanks to a long barrel and closed-bolt firing. If necessary, Steyr AUG 9 mm submachine gun also can be fitted with silencer.
Steyr AUG Para utilizes basic components (aluminum receiver and polymer stock of bullpup configuration) from the Steyr AUG assault rifle. The 9 mm barrel is installed (original Steyr AUG assault rifles have quick detachable barrels), and a gas-operated locked bolt action is replaced with simple blowback (unlocked) bolt. Original firing system with hammer and pull-through selective trigger (short pull results in single shots, long pull – in full automatic fire) is retained, and a special magazine adapter is installed into the magazine housing. Depending on the basic version of the Steyr AUG assault rifle, which is used for conversion, 9mm version will retain its parent sighting equipment – 1.5X telescope sight in A1 version of Picatinny rail with optional open or optical sights in A2 and A3 versions.[1]
- The Steyr AUG A3 Para XS is a 9mm variant of the AUG A3. It features a 325 mm (12.8 in) barrel and a Picatinny rail system.
- The Steyr AUG 40 is a .40 S&W variant of the AUG Para that uses Glock compatible double stack .40 S&W magazines.[2]

Trivia
- According to RIRE, SMG AUG ParaAUG ParaAUG Para is sisters with AR AUGAUGAUG and AR Steyr ACRSteyr ACRSteyr ACR however it remains as artist canon unless proven otherwise by the developers.
- AR AUGAUGAUG and AR Steyr ACRSteyr ACRSteyr ACR however are confirmed to be sisters from the latter's official character sheet.
- SMG AUG ParaAUG ParaAUG Para refers to AR AUGAUGAUG as "AUG-san" on one of her secretary quotes mentioning that something is familiar about her. It is likely that it has something to do with her internal memories having issues and that they're actually siblings or simply just a reference to the AUG Para being a SMG conversion of the standard AUG.
