Record 1
The woman who reigned over Griffin's Integrated Logistics Department did not fall into a slump because of Griffin's reorganization. Rather, she worked tirelessly to follow her desires, and through personal effort came into ownership of her cafe, the Zucchero. Until she reunited with the most important person to her on the Elmo, she did not relax for even a moment.
Even among the Dolls the Commander has become acquainted with, Springfield is special. She is gentle, kind, and strong, as if no problem could overcome her. No matter who requests her help and what troubles they may have, she always provides appropriate advice for the situation, or assistance and comfort should they come to a difficult junction in their life. As a result, even immensely capable or dispositionally prideful elite Dolls do not hide their respect for Springfield.
Springfield herself, however, has never considered it a source of pride. She is akin to a cup of pristine tea, always giving off a fine aroma, seeking nothing in return.
Record 2
Springfield is fond of gatherings. Not the sorts of chaotic parties you tend to see outside, but assemblies of those important to her, whatever the reason for the gathering may be. There need not be a special theme or occasion. Merely seeing everyone together makes her happy.
While at Griffin, she'd often hold events at the cafe for various reasons. Like many others, she enjoyed herself in the moment. On this hobby of hers, Springfield would consider herself far too selfish. If it were possible, she'd wish for those times to forever stop in those delightful moments, and for the people of Griffin to never be separated.
When everything happened for real, Springfield's spirits remained high. She knew that one day that person would return, leading everyone in unison.
If everyone from Griffin is still here, then anywhere can be Griffin.
Record 3
Perhaps unexpectedly, Springfield wasn't particularly proficient at preparing the latest trending snacks, which was perhaps related to her leisurely disposition. Springfield is without a doubt a diligent person, but her grasp on current trends is tenuous at best. Save for the evergreen coffee and black tea, she rarely prepared any morsels following popular trends.
Biscuits and carrot cakes were the two recipes she was best versed in. While she was not thoroughly incapable when it comes to layered cream cakes that are delightful in both taste and appearance, she was by no means an expert. As such, those matters were often handled by Centaureissi.
Springfield is not one to fall behind, however. These responsibilities have fallen onto her, especially before Centaureissi's arrival at the Zucchero. To prevent the horrifying possibility of Makiatto stepping up to the task, Springfield dedicated a significant amount of time to studying these desserts. Now, she has completely overcome her previous weaknesses.
A foremost beneficiary, the Commander often enjoys an afternoon tea personally crafted by Springfield. The dishes are rarely the same.
Record 4
"I really do long for Miss Springfield's tea. Even now, I think back to its flavor."
Springfield stays appropriately in touch with past associates. A wide range of contacts is indeed helpful for the Zucchero's intelligence network, but it's more that Springfield wants to find out how they're doing, whether their lives have been prosperous, and if they've encountered any difficulties. These appear to be only commonplace enquiries, but Springfield is always prepared to be at her friends' side at any sign of trouble.
She even took to keeping a mechanical hawk, naming it Taryz and having it deliver letters between her and her friends. Even with communications technology available just a touch away, Springfield remains rather fond of this archaic method, writing about her circumstances and recent events of interest to Lee, Kar, and other old friends. By virtue of this habit, Taryz has grown used to long-distance travel, and is adept at low-altitude reconnaissance.
Before reconvening with the Commander, she gathered two old friends–Makiatto and Centaureissi–at the Zucchero. And they, like Springfield, returned to the Commander's side.
Perhaps Springfield wishes for old friends to gather again even more than the Commander. She waits quietly, believing that the day will come.
Record 5
Springfield often prepares breakfast for the Commander. No one else gets to have Springfield's breakfasts full of love.
When the Commander's morning routine is complete, she sits down at her very own seat in the public area. Springfield will then appear with the meal she has prepared for the Commander, the contents of which are always different. Even the almost immutable coffee might be adjusted according to the Commander's previous day of work. If the Commander had too much overtime, there'll be vegetable juice in the coffee's place.
The main part of the meal is usually a more traditional carrot cake or a sandwich, but sometimes Springfield will produce waffles or slices of cake. The occasional Chinese dishes such as buns or siu mai appear as well, though they are rare due to their unavoidable incompatibility with coffee.
As time goes on, an observant Doll might realize that the differences in the meals seem to represent Springfield's mood. If Springfield presents a slice of cake, then the Commander must have done something to make her happy. If it is something that is painfully incompatible with coffee, everyone immediately reminds the Commander that she ought to apologize. Even if the Commander does actually go and apologize, Springfield will only say that she wasn't angry at all.
She will produce a delicious snack for the Commander afterwards, though.
Record 6
You know, I've always had a suspicion–isn't Springfield pretty good at being in command?
As everyone knows, she used to be in charge of the Integrated Logistics Department back in Griffin, and her duties on the Elmo are mostly similar. The Zucchero has allowed her to reveal her prowess as the leader of an intelligence organization.
After a bit of pondering, I realized that no matter what Springfield was tasked with, she would always produce a satisfying result. And so, I suddenly had a thought–is it not a waste of fine talent to have her only be responsible for logistics?
With that in mind, I asked Springfield to help out at the ops room for a day, handling dispatch and command for the Elmo with Groza and Colphne. She did not betray my expectations. That day, despite never having come in contact with the Elmo's operational work, she handled all of the work with ease, with some guidance from Groza.
Thus, I simply spoke to Springfield, asking if she would be willing to come work at the ops room.
"Sorry, Commander, I'm afraid I can't accept that offer..." She was a little troubled, but still rejected me with a smile.
"Why, though? You did well yesterday, and Groza commended you too, saying that she would have expected nothing less of Springfield." I was a little confused. I had no plans to force her, but I was quite curious as to her reasons.
"There are many Dolls who can alleviate your worries, and I am one of them. But if I were to leave for the ops room, who would take care of everyone else?" She smiled as she continued. "Miss Centaureissi is quite happy to listen to others' concerns, but often gets caught up in the minutiae along with the person she's speaking to. Makiatto isn't suitable for most logistics tasks, and although Mayling has a few shades of how Miss Kalina used to be, wouldn't it be too cruel to put all of that on her shoulders?"
"With the number of Dolls on the Elmo always increasing... logistics will only get more difficult to manage. You already have many Dolls who can be of help in the ops room, but logistics... This might sound like me giving myself too much credit, but no one else can do it better than me, right?"
"Besides..."
Springfield gazed at me, smiling with a thousand words unsaid.
"I still want to put together three meals a day for you, Commander."
...I eventually gave up on poaching her over to the ops room. In return, the Elmo's logistics flow flawlessly most of the time.
The lovely meals I get to have are nice, too.
Record 7
Before Springfield came to the Elmo, I made all of my coffee myself.
This isn't because Mayling or the others weren't willing to do it for me. In fact, they often complained that I shouldn't trouble myself with such trivial things, and that they can handle it for me. It's become a little hobby of mine, really. The first time I made coffee myself, the result was a cup of water with a faint hint of coffee. This ignited my competitive side, and soon enough I proclaimed myself a coffee master.
When Springfield returned, though, I discovered her coffee was simply better than mine.
Was it a difference in the beans? No, Springfield used the same beans
that we bulk-buy on the Elmo. I observed her in secret and found out that she used the same grinder as me... with hardly any difference in extraction time. Just what caused the difference in flavor?
Of course, if I had asked, Springfield would surely have explained it in excruciating detail and tutored me until I had gained an understanding, but my competitive side perked up again. I could not bring myself to simply ask her and chose to observe instead. To avoid being discovered, I watched her in secret, leaving after I had learned even a tiny snippet.
One day, while I observed her serving coffee for others from the shadows, Centaureissi approached me as I was taking notes. An issue with something at the depot, I believe.
"Ah, C-Centaureissi!" I was a little startled. I was engaging in something of a clandestine nature after all, and I had no idea whether or not Centaureissi had noticed what I was writing down.
"You're studying Springfield again." A nonchalant mention from Centaureissi exposed my secret. She spoke like she found out long ago, shocking me.
"Of course I found out long ago..." Centaureissi seemed a bit lost for words. "Miss Springfield did, too. She hasn't broken her silence on it, as she seems to quite enjoy being the sole subject of your attention... I thought you ought to have noticed, too."
I turned to look at Springfield not far away, only to meet her eyes. The look in her eyes told me that she's seen through everything as she smiled gently.
...I did not seek to learn Springfield's secrets after that. Her coffee remains better than mine.
Record 8
Springfield enjoys being with everyone. Even simply observing without joining the conversation makes her content. Occasionally, though, she wishes to be with me and only me.
In the small hours of the night when most Dolls had already retired, I sometimes remain awake occupied with work or things on my mind. On those nights, I will go to the cafe to find Springfield still behind the counter, as if she had been waiting for me.
What she serves me on nights like these depends on the circumstances. If I have to return to work soon after, she presents me with a bitter cup of espresso. If my work is complete and I'm headed to rest, she has a cup of whisky for me.
I used to not understand why M16 was so fond of it, but now I get it.
On one day, because of some things on my mind, I came to the cafe after work and had several drinks in a row. When I wanted another drink, Springfield gave me a cup of warm water.
"...This is water?"
I downed half the cup and felt somewhat more lucid, but still gave Springfield a confused look.
"I was somewhat looking forward to seeing you drunk and escorting you back to your room a little, I must admit. Though it does certainly make me unhappy to see you treat your body like this."
She spoke with a smile, but the concern in her eyes was evident.
"If there is something on your mind, might you tell me about it before you're completely drunk?"
Springfield walked out from behind the bar, sat beside me, and grasped my hand.
"..."
I don't quite remember what exactly transpired later that night, only that I talked a lot with Springfield. I only passed out as light was beginning to return to the sky. It was afternoon the next day when I woke up.
I found pajamas on my body and a certain comfort that comes with being showered and cleaned in Springfield's room.
And Springfield was her usual self at the cafe, serving our companions.
I didn't ask questions, nor did I go out of my way to thank Springfield. I simply go to the cafe every night to have a drink and a little chat with Springfield.
That's enough to make us happy.

Pardon the intrusion, Commander. Are you free right now?
The Elmo's encountering some issues with the storage of food since our supplies rarely arrive at projected times.
I'd like to modify the cold storage unit on the Elmo and ask for your thoughts on the matter.
Thank you. I'll speak to Miss Mayling and see if she has any recommendations.
