The rifle has a rather futuristic look because of the polymer lower receiver / stock. The lower receiver is compatible with AR-15 triggers, has a push-button safety, AR-15 style magazine release, bolt hold open mechanism and takes AR-15 magazines. The stock features two sling loops inside the cutout and QD sling swivel sockets right behind the wrist. Judging by the amount of drop this stock has, it should work best with scopes and sights in low profile mounts (AR-height sights will probably be excessively high for this gun even with the cheek riser installed).

Weapon Background[edit]

The VRB is a spring-assisted pump-action rifle designed and produced by German firearms and accessories manufacturer Hera Arms. The name of the rifle is an acronym for 'Vorderschaftrepetierbüchse', and literally means 'pump-action rifle' in German.[1]

The VRB rifle has a rather futuristic look with its polymer lower receiver/stock, which sports Hera Arms' distinctive angular styling. The lower receiver is compatible with AR-15 triggers and magazine releases, and the rifle is capable of taking standard AR-15 magazines. The stock features two sling loops inside the cutout and QD sling swivel sockets right behind the wrist. Judging by the amount of drop this stock has, it should work best with scopes and sights attached to low profile mounts (AR-height sights will probably be excessively high for this gun even with the cheek riser installed). Other features include a push-button safety and a bolt hold-open mechanism.

Where the lower receiver of the VRB is constructed of polymer, the upper receiver of the rifle is made of aluminum. Like many modern rifles based on the AR platform, the VRB sports a top-mounted Picatinny rail running along the entire top section of the gun, and a spring-loaded dust cover over the ejection port. The rifle is equipped with a 16-3/4″ barrel with a 1:9″ twist rate. The muzzle is threaded with a 5/8×24 thread pitch and comes with a birdcage-style flash hider installed. The overall length of the rifle is 38″ and it weighs in at about 6.8 lbs.

The Picatinny rail section running along the bottom portion of the KeyMod handguard is the part that slides back and forth to cycle the action, and is capable of accepting various types of foregrip attachments. Hera Arms describes the VRB as a 'spring-assisted pump-action firearm': the gun features a large spring around the barrel, and while pulling the slide back the operator is also compressing that coil spring. The spring then extends back out on the forward stroke of the slide, assisting the forward motion of your hand. The spring-assisted design will also send the bolt and sliding forearm forward when you hit the bolt release. The pump-style action of the VRB, as well as the design of the stock, are aimed at allowing the gun to be sold in states and countries with restrictive firearms legislation that limits or prohibits the use of semi-auto rifles or certain features such as pistol grips.

Character Background

A big fan of roleplaying who loves talking to people in a "space explorer" persona. She insists on interacting with the people around her in that capacity and seems to be using the backstory of "being separated from her crew and trying to establish communications with her home planet" as her rationale for working with Griffin. She's crafted an elaborate backstory for her home and crewmates and imagines that she's battling a villainous "Empire" that spans the entire universe.

Trivia

  • VRB is currently one of the only non-shotgun units in the game to have a ROF cap of 60 (the standard ROF cap for SG units in GFL). This is likely due to the VRB using a pump-action design similar to many shotguns.
  • Like most skills that feature mechanics based on the number of allied units present on-field, VRB's skill does not account for dummy links, and only counts the mainframes of units.
    • If VRB's skill is activated again while she hasn't used up all of her enhanced shots, then the new shots will be added on to however many shots she has remaining from her previous skill activation. For example, if VRB has 2 empowered shots still remaining when she activates her skill a second time, the 5 empowered shots she gains from her skill are added on to the two shots still left over from the previous skill activation, leaving her with a total of 7 empowered shots.
