Weapon Background[edit]
Note that G36C is classified as an carbine in real life, but due to reasons from MICA Team G36C appears as a SMG class T-Doll in game.
The G36C is a compact subcarbine version of the German G36 rifle produced by defense firm Heckler and Koch. It was developed in late 2000, and entered production in early 2001. It represents an evolution from the earlier G36K short rifle.
The success of HK's G36 infantry rifle led to the development of several variants, each designed to fulfill a specific combat role. Among the numerous models produced was a carbine version. This version is designated the 'G36C', with the 'C' in the name standing for 'compact'. True to its name, the G36C is as compact as most modern SMGs, measuring only 500 mm in length with the stock folded and sporting a barrel length of 228 mm compared to original G36's 480 mm. Despite the new smaller size, it is still chambered in the 5.56x45mm NATO intermediate rifle round.
The mechanical operation of the gun remains the same as its larger counterpart. The weapon still utilizes a short-stroke gas piston and a rotating bolt. The major changes from the G36K include the significantly reduced barrel length, from 318mm down to 228mm, which reduces the effective range, muzzle velocity, and accuracy of the weapon. The shortened barrel also means the weapon's gas block had to be moved closer to the muzzle end, and the gas piston operating rod had to be reduced in length. The built-in optical scope of the G36K was removed on the G36C, and several other features were reduced in size like the carrying handle, handguard, and stock. With all these changes, the G36C managed to cut down around 0.48kg in weight, weighting only 2.82kg when empty.
The G36C features a 2-round burst fire mode on top of the standard semiautomatic and automatic fire options. It also features even more Picatinny rail placements, with mounting points on the top of the carrying handle (for mounting optics/detachable iron sight) and along the bottom and side of the weapon forearm (for mounting tactical accessories such as flash light and fore grips). Another notable change from its predecessors is the flash suppressor on the G36C, which is now a birdcage style, meaning it is no longer compatible with rifle grenades/bayonets.
Unlike its predecessors, the G36C does not have an 'E' variant for export. The weapon is, however, finding itself in service with the special policing units and military special forces of a number of nations, both inside and outside of NATO. This is all thanks to its impressive combat performance and compactness.[1]
Character Design
A T-Doll around 145-150cm in height, G36C is most easily identified by her red eyes and long silver hair with a short hair braid on the left. Her artist, Parsley, commented on G36C's character design inspirations in the March 2017 edition of the official art book The Art of Girls' Frontline—Until The Stars:[2]
"G36C being a German-made weapon, I incorporated aspects from the German military uniform when I designed her outfit, such as the colors and the pocket layouts (C36C[sic]作为德国制的枪械，在设计服装时吸收了一些德军军装的设计要素，比如颜色和口袋的布局。)."
"Originally I wanted her hair to be blonde, but after some consideration I chose silver instead (头发最开始是想画成金色，但是最后对比了一下还是选择了银色。)."

Trivia
- G36C being released as a SMG unit instead of an AR is due to the design and role of the weapon. The G36C, while being chambered for a full-power rifle cartridge, is a compact automatic weapon meant to fulfill a similar combat role to weapons like the MP7 and PP-19.
- In addition, the developers had to keep the balance of the game in mind. Since the game already have a lot of AR type T-Dolls, G36C was released as a SMG type T-Doll in order to not crowd out the AR class.[3]
- G36C is illustrated by the same artist as Kantai Collection character "Kashima"[4], パセリ (translated as 'Parsley'). Due to the similar art style, the expressions, and the silver hair, parts of the Chinese player base jokingly calls G36C "Kashima".[5] That said, G36C bears a stronger resemblance to Hamakaze, another of Parsley's shipgirls.

says that it gives them a shield with 9999 points of HP, in fact it actually doesn't. Instead, their shields give them a "Defense" value of 9999 points, which negates 100% of incoming damage as long as the shield remains at the max Defense Value. The only way for an enemy to punch through their shields is if they possess a "Defense Piercing" Stat as well as a "Shelling Damage" stat, a combination which only 1 enemy in the game currently has. - When SMG G36CG36C
procs her "Shelter" effect in her MOD2 passive, if the echelon has a T-Doll or fairy present which can grant HP shields immediately at the start of the battle, she will prioritise sacrificing the HP shields health instead of her own.
